In handlock, if you tap on turn 2, 3 and 4, you can play this on turn 5. While an 8/8 on turn 5 is good, it doesn't have taunt, so versus aggro you would need to instead summon or cast something defensive on one of your early turns and then drop this on turn 6 to counter-push for lethal.

I just saw you said Handlock. Otherwise effects like Flame Imp shouldn't be forgotten either

  • So if I'm not wrong the reduce cost is "perma" but only happens during your turn right? and no need for it to be on hand if I read it right unlike Jumbo Imp

  • No doubt a good card. The art is gloriously horrifying - me likey. I think it'll find a home in any Warlock deck, aggro or control, and should see some play in Priest as well. Low-cost big-stat minions are always good, and this looks like it'll easily drop down to (0). The fact that it doesn't have to be in your hand makes it even better.

  • VERY strong.

    But disgusting character...

  • The art is horrifying!

  • With no 'when in your hand' description, I would assume that the discount persist even if the card is still in your deck.

Again, this is mostly a warlock card, since its easier for them to deal damage to themselves without sacrificing tempo. This is easily a 0 mana 8/8 in many cases, almost mirroring  how Molten Giant worked in the old handlock days. But things have changed, and 8/8s are no longer as hard to remove now.

Its still a great card, above average from the rest. There's also a possibility of combo here somewhere. 0 mana stuff tend to be broken one way or another. Unlike the other cards we've seen, this can fit easily in any deck that would want a 0 mana 8/8 past turns 6-8.

    • I think Priests could make good use of this too with there healing power and Life steal effects they been getting.

      • Sure, but priest has the same problem that heal paladin had, you can't heal without first damaging yourself.

Assuming this hits on in priest, the appropriate counter is to simply ignore their face until at least turn 5. Not that priest has much initiative to play anything until turn 5 anyway. Its just not very consistent, similar to Zandalari Templar

Also, its more or less a dead card in control matches, being an 8/8 for 8 is not really that imposing. Its just my opinion, but warlock can juice this lemon way better and more consistently than priest.

    • I'm pretty sure it still only reduces the cost only when it's in your hand. Like Obsidian Shard, while there is no "While this is in your hand" in the card text, it still requires being in your hand to reduce.

Moreover, if Flesh Giant could reduce even if it's in your deck, there should have been "this game" or "wherever it is" phrase in the card text.

You are just wrong, even your example is wrong. Obsidian Shard quote from wiki

The cost reduction of this card is not dependent on the card being in the player's hand or deck or even on the card existing at the time the class card was played.

for those types of cards they specifically say while this is in your hand just like Jumbo Imp

  • My god, this is nuts in Even lock, i hope this will be enough to ressurect that deck, coz i love it.

  • 0 mana 8/8 in Heal Priest and Self Damage warlock... but mostly warlock

    • It's "each time", not "for every Health point changed" so you need to change Health more than once during your turn to cheat it out early

      • Yeah i know that... I just said that warlock has more opportunity to do so... And 0 mana part was just a joke. But priest need to gt face damage din a first palce while warlock can life tap then heal back and be done with it on turn 5-6 if you tap every turn and have a few self damage or heal cards...

  • If this is the direction Priest/Lock is going with their cards... I’m totally down for this! It looks hella interesting

    • it is actually not that hard to activate in warlock.

  • Decent card, but not too easy to cheat out super early.

But is that card art HS-friendly??

    • Well it’s art is pretty much the same as Rotface and Festergut from frozen thrones. So i dont think there is any issues with it

  • Molten Giant 2.0
