Blizzard has pushed a new bundle live into the Hearthstone shop this afternoon that gives you an easy way to add a couple of new Darkmoon Faire legendary cards to your collection.
The bundle is $20 USD and contains the following:
- 2 Random Legendary cards from Madness at the Darkmoon Faire.
- 20 Scholomance Academy packs
This is not only a solid boost to your collection if you're still missing cards from Scholomance Academy, but also one if you only care about the legendary cards. With a pack on average providing 102.71 arcane dust, the two legendary cards are worth just over 3200 dust or 32 packs, which is crazy good value for $20.

That's why I didn't want to get into pack value :)
I just thought it might be useful for someone thinking about buying the bundle, or as a general rule for evaluation of random legendaries. It's more important to be precise about them, since they are so expensive.
I don't like 100g=100d rule (but I do understand it), since I dust only duplicates, and I can't pay dust to enjoy Arena or new packs at the beginning of the expansion. Gold is, of course, much better to have than dust.
Exactly this!
Maybe i sounded very pedantic, But i really dislike when there are misconceptions if there are people's money on the line
EDIT: (sorry i edit a lot) thinking more about it (about the being pedantic...) my terms "wanted legendary" and "random legendary" as they have different value isn't true. A legendary has always the same value, and isn't subjective.
400 dust is the value of the legendary card; when we create one, and spend 1600 dust, we are just buying the item with a loss of 1200 dust. We perceive the item has having a value of 1600 dust, but in reality the exact moment that item is in our "hand" it's value is 400 dust.
Now, if we get the random legendary we exactly want, we aren't "gaining" 1600 dust (we gain 400), in truth we aren't "losing" 1200 dust; it sounds the same, but is fundamentally different
Just fix the rewards system.
The calculation that this site always uses for these deals bugs me: You get a legendary about every 20 packs, and the estimate that packs are worth 102 dust assumes that you’re disenchanting every card. But if you’re focused on earning legendaries, wouldn’t you keep the ones you drew from the packs?!?
My personal records have me earning about 70 dust per pack if I subtract the value of the legendaries. I’ll defer to others with larger data sets for exact numbers. But if we assume each pack has a 5% chance of drawing a legendary and gives you 70 dust (4.4% of 1600), then we see that one legendary is worth 10-11 packs.
Also, remember not to let Hearthstone trick you into thinking that anything better than its baseline prices are a good deal. The make the base shop prices ridiculously high so that deals like these seem hard to pass up.
Are you picking up the bundle?
Nope.
20 Scholomance packs at the launch of a new expansion? Hard No.
No more money from me unless they honor their word and fix the system
FWIW Redit says it the patch has gone live to fix the quest issue. At least one use claims he got the XP credit after a game. They did not mention if they had to check their XP or it showed an pop-up.
Just wanted to point out that there's still the midexpansion and very likely there would be a bundle for 20 bucks offering darkmoon packs during that time.
I would probably hold back, given that unlike scholomance, only a few darkmoon cards are actually being played right now. Unless this offers the old gods straight up, it'll probably be better to pass.
"Darkmon Legendary" on main page art LUL
But hey kinda worth it... Scholomance is jsut dust for me, but Darkmoon legendaries are nice to have
