If you want to take part in tomorrow's Nozdormu Day event you best open up some space in your daily quest zone!
In patch 20.8 that dropped 2 weeks ago, Blizzard added a new quest that gives you 1500 XP on the rewards track for playing three games with Nozdormu the Eternal in your deck. This quest is going to be available monthly on the 15th, Nozdormu Day, and will take up a daily quest slot, in addition to your normal daily, (update: this IS your daily quest) so making sure you have room available is vital if you want to scoop up the XP boost.
This is the first month we'll be seeing the dedicated Nozdormu Day quest. With the XP reward, will you be taking part? Let us know in the comments what you are planning on playing with Nozdormu - you can share your decks with our deckbuilder.
Trivia Time!
The Hearthstone client doesn't support repeatable quests on a monthly schedule so implementing Nozdormu Day quests uses the regular quest system. Because of this, when you complete the Nozdormu Day quest that was given to you, it can never be completed again... so Blizzard duplicated the quest a dozen times.
If, in the future on Nozdormu Day, the quests don't activate, it is likely because of Blizzard not putting in a fresh round of these quests for us to complete. Game design is truly an art, and it's great to see they could leverage an existing system without new code to get this out quickly.
TL;DR: Hearthstone doesn't have a concept of repeatable quests outside the pool of dailies.

8 games played, no opponent with Nozdormu. Standard ranked EU
6 games in Wild so far, no Noz on the other side :-(
Commencement Dragon Paladin on wild ladder with all 3 Nozdormu! Such a fun deck that I use it even when not Nozdormu the Eternal day. Didn't hit any other Nozdormu decks but I won 2 of the 3 matches. Considering how weirdly I built the deck that was a nice surprise. I think I mostly confused my opponents especially with Nozdormu the Timeless.
Even with the quest complete I'll hit up that ladder later see if I can get at least one activation for Nozdormu the Eternal.
5 games, one hit. Both players emote spamming in a happy way isn't something you see everyday in Hearthstone so the quest's defintely a great addition to the game in my books :)
I played three games with Nozdormu in Wild and it activated 2 out of 3 times, so the quest seems to make a big difference compared to two months ago when I couldn't find a single opponent playing Nozdormu.
I'm really disappointed about that Nozdormu quest. I was expecting another quest besides regular daily ones. We have a special slot for legendary quests, so why not give us an additional quest once a month? Is that too much c'mon...
It really seems greedy, all we get is +500 xp a month, which seems like a joke.
I also thought it was going to be a legendary quest in addition to our daily one, but I wouldn't call this greedy.
They organized an event with the intent to utilize a meme card and gave us additional experience to participate in it. There is nothing bad here, where is the greed? It would have been nice to get an additional quest, but it is unfair to say they are greedy because they aren't as generous as we would like.
I think they didn't use the legendary quest slot because it might be taken up by other events. For example, people that didn't finish their Fire Festival questline yet will still have that in their legendary quest slot.
As for the reward, it's still 50% more XP for a quest that is relatively easy to complete. And while Hearthstone is expensive, I don't think a monthly event would be the way to fix that. It's much easier to increase the gold to XP ratio, if they wanted to make the economy more budget friendly.
I agree on all your points! I haven't had time to play a lot this week, so I'm still on the "Play 10 Shaman games" step of the Fire Festival questline. What's even better is that the Nozdormu quest works in Wild, so it's a perfect fit for aggressive Baku decks like paladin and demon hunter. Took me about 15 minutes to get 150 g (I completed 2 weekly quests at the same time), so quite efficient!
Seems like the Noz quest doesn't give you an additional quest, it simply replaces the quest you'll be getting that day.
Here I was thinking that we'll be getting two quests in one day. Oh well.
Same. Looked like it was going to be 1500XP = 50 gold a month extra at this point for most people.
If we say this is 500XP extra then it's 16 gold a month extra.
Ah well let's hope it leads to some fun games at least :)
Yeah il do it, itsa free quest, but i hope i wont run into anyone else with it. Its 1500 extra exp for little effort so why wouldnt i take even it.
But il just do those 3games and then imeadlty delete that deck and not touch it till next month nozdormu.
Will I swap out a Fire Elemental for Nozdormu for three games to get 1500xp? You betcha! I wonder if I will queue into anyone else running Noz. This is a fun way to try to goose a little something different for one day a month.
Are the quest activation's based on client time or server side time?
If the former then you could complete all 12 the same day. Though that sounds like a good way to get banned.
Just thinking out loud - I would have thought they should have already thought of this so it would use server side time.
edit: easy enough to answer my own question by setting my client date to tomorrow. No new quest so server side it is :)
Anything that is going to have a change in economy is handled server-side =)
It only occurred to me because I'd heard it was possible to buy wild adventures for gold again if you changed the time on the client.
No idea if that's true, been fixed, or bannable offense.
Just idle musings :)
I've never heard of being able to buy wild adventures for gold again if you change your clock, but I do know there is some wiggleroom.
Its possible to have Blizzard activate something on the server, but not tell clients the purchase is available yet. But, if you change your clock, the server will let you go through with the purchase early since its technically active.
There are also ways to buy bundles they don't give you access to, but that doesn't always work and I consider it slightly risky so I wouldn't encourage anyone to look into it. You can also just waste money as well, which I've done when trying to buy a bundle I didn't get. The bundle was supposed to give me 20 packs but I got one instead. Serves me right for trying to abuse the system :P
(None of that should ever hurt someone using the shop regularly though - I don't want to cause anyone any worries about potential purchases)
General rule, almost always, anything with date -> Server side
And if you do it by client side... You probably also add a validation on server side lol.
I think they also based on date... like they have one for July 15 one for August 15 one for September 15 and so on. But such stuff is of course always server side... whenever quest reset happens
Well I suppose I will play some dragon scam rogue in wild
