Friendly reminder that Wyrmrest Purifier exists. (in wild)
It's bad, but it exists.
Can still put neutrals in your deck if you plan to use this as a finisher once you've drawn all your neutrals. No idea of the viability of such an archetype but technically don't need a pure deck - like how some duplicate decks played zeph.
This expansion is so... Gimmicky
That is...weird. No. 1 what the hell is Paladin doing getting cards from other classes? Priest? Sure. Rogue? Absolutely. But Paladin?? No. 2 you're playing Pure Paladin yet your value wincon will be non-Paladin legendaries? Doesn't seem very Pure (also there will be like no synergy between your deck and what you discover). No. 3 faaack is this slow. It's a war golem until you pay an extra 3 mana to discover. And while we all wish our discovers consisted of 7+ mana cards, the result might be you get a 4 coster at best on your discover and then you start really wondering why the hell you bothered playing this card. Granted, in Standard the range of discovers is going to be more limited, so depending on the class-specific Legendary pool your odds might get better, but still, that's a lot of mana investment for unreliable results.
I like this archetype. Why don't they do the pure thing for other classes as well?
My guess is it is one of theme. The pure-paladin cards are (normally) thematic representations of intolerance, zealotry and a 'holier than thou' attitude, which are easy to map onto a lot of paladin characters. You could probably justify a very similar theme in DH, but I don't really see it fitting elsewhere.
It's also usually pretty easy to make a deck without neutrals, especially if they are centred around a class mechanic (tribal decks are much more difficult). It's significantly less restrictive than all-spell decks, for example. So I don't think there's that much motivation for the devs to spread the pure thing around more widely, since it only really tweaks archetypes and doesn't generate truly new ones.
This is a really good rogue card
This is so accurate it hurts.
Such a strange card. dont get me wrong 0 mana CLASS legendaries tend to be good. Still strange that paladin is taking other legendaries, especially as a pure mechanic. Yes you are inviting them rather than stealing them as Rogue does which is flavorful. However like others said Smite and Varrian are staples. You might even use Mutanus or the new Mad Lad for some disruption. Might mean this gets stuck inactive from time to time. Even when it does go off feels a bit slow.
Damn that's a strong effect, considering you can easily get 0 cost Colossals. As for the deckbuilding restriction, can't remember if there's any Bad Luck Albatross type cards in standard atm, but having no neutrals is a bit rough if you need certain tech cards like Viper
No Prince Renathal, Reno Jackson, Mr. Smite, Varian, King of Stormwind for Paladins if they use this card, daaaamn :D
well ... this is the best Legendary of the expansion IMNSHO :)
There's so many good neutrals though :(
Can't even have weapon removal in the deck ...
but that is a pretty strong effect.
Thief racist paladin now?
Unexpected, especially a class like paladin where mundane but effective cards are everywhere.
But is it any good? Well, the conditions forces you to drop cards like Mr. Smite and Varian, King of Stormwind, both of which are fairly staples in paladin decks nowadays. At least Lightray can be played alongside this so youre not exactly playing a 7 mana do nothing.
I suppose its playable in control paladin, and I say that only because Im sure you can still stick smite in there. Chances are good you'll be drawing that smite before this card even becomes useful. Because 3 legendaries or not, your win con will likely still be smite, not this card. But who knows, perhaps having three legendaries is more than enough a win con. Just dont let the mad duke steal this card or worse, the invitations.
That's a rogue/paladin dual class card. Flavourwise
Day 1 gold craft
At least now you can open packs first and if you open her just upgrade
