- Rubs hands greedily.
I think Valdris Felgorge will shine more in Wild than in Standard. I feel Standard does not have the enough cards to make this card shine. Well, we'll see how it goes when this set goes live.
So, what class is going to receive a card that ‘’reduces max hand size” ???
Tempo Warlock definitely will need this, cause you draw a nice number of cards without losing that much HP
for some reason Arch-Villain Rafaam seems viable at late games once Valdris Felgorge and Veiled Worshipper get's useless... there are so many synergies warlock gets in this expansion.
Rise of Shadows:
Blizzard: Hey Control Warlocks, here is some handlock stuff to replace the DK stuff! Enjoy!
Players: That looks cool, were excited for it! Cool combos with Rafaam!
like at most week after the expansion....
Players: Handlock is the worst archetype in the game.. (Competing with Priest)
Saviors Of Uldum:
Blizzard: Here is some more support for handlock!
Players: oooh, this might make it viable!
Few months later....
Players: Still worst archetype in the game, at least it's a meme deck now!
Doom of the tomb event hits
Quest Handlock Players: our time has come! laughs in mecha'thun combo against n'zoth players... till evolve shamans appear and absolutely crush them.
Descent of Dragons:
Blizzard: okay, it is time.... PRINT THEM OP CARDS, GIVE THEM BIGGER HANDS! LETS LET THIS ARCHETYPE LIFT OFF!
Okay okay, i LOVE these new cards and i'm hyped for Dragon Quest Handlock control styled deck. Still hyped to see if we get even more support! The deck might, FINALLY.... be pretty good! i have been waiting for a viable control warlock deck & Archetype in standard for so long....
a month later.....

My opinion will seem unpopular, but I rated 2 stars for Valdris Felgorge and 3 stars for Abyssal Summoner. Let me explain:
The biggest problem for handlock in standard is not value - it has a ton; neither is its hand size after turn 7; the problem is how it can survive against aggro prior to turn 5 and how it can turn the board over without a flexible card like Defile. Either with or without quest, Handlock hardly has anything to play before turn 5. Twilight Drake or Hellfire are the best card you can hope for but often you will die even after playing them. New dragon cards (lifesteal Eviscerate and the 5 mana Duskbreaker) will help but certainly not enough to make the strategy work.
As far as I like the conceptual innovation behind Valdris Felgorge, it is still a win-more card. Sprint wouldn't see play in warlock and a 4/4 body is not enough to push it over the edge. Abyssal Summoner, on the other hand, can help stablize and I can see it being played in Even Warlock in wild. But my prediction is that Valdris Felgorge won't make it into a competitive deck.
I completely agree with you on Valdris Felgorge. Despite what people seem to believe, I don't think this card will be useful for HandLock. As someone who played nothing else for almost a year I can safely say that card draw isn't an issue for the archetype, and the handsize thing is negletable imo. I do however think this card is useful in something like Quest Malygos Warlock, potentially opening an OTK (Soulfire and Nether Breath), since the cards drawn cost 0 after quest completion. Just hoping for some more good Dragons for the class and the deck seems viable :)
how good would 7 mana 4/4 battlecry draw 4 be?
Well it's a Sprint with a free 4/4 included, so I'd say it's pretty good.
Wow... Such BIG, strong Hands...
12 cards!? The technology is there!
Uh oh - better make the most of squelch, clicking on collection manager and changing deck names now because there's no way the code changes for 12 cards in hand won't raise mega bugs :)
Seriously though so many possibilities with 12 cards - wow. People love hand lock :)
Warlock hype is getting real, tempo and more tempo, how much tempo does warlock need?, even the quest seems very considerable with all these drawing mechanics.
The Warlock dream is no longer gonna be a meme?
So warlock get support on 3 archetype eh.. galakrond zoo, 12 handlock, and a nether dragon that has yet to be revealed. I hope DoD can bounce warlock back in to action.
Valdris Felgorge is awesome, regardless of whether or not it's good. Increasing max hand size is a phenomenal effect, and drawing 4 cards is certainly worth 7 mana (Sprint), so the extra 4/4 body is just a nice bonus. Not immediately obvious to me what you do with a 12 card hand, but with the various discard tools that generate extra copies of cards (e.g. Expired Merchant, High Priestess Jeklik, and Soulwarden), the space could be very useful.
Abyssal Summoner, on the other hand, is kind of meh. To be worth it, you'd probably need at least five cards in hand, and you're probably not really excited about this card until you've got 7 or 8 cards in hand. That's probably only happening once you get all your "Giant Handlock" win conditions lined up, so this feels like a very late game 6-drop that's hard to be super excited about.
Question - Does "hand size" = "cards in hand"?
Valdris shows they are not and both cards are using same wording.
So it means Abyssal Summoner always summons 10/10 (sometimes 12/12) for 6 mana.
Skorpionex, that's a misreading of Valdris Felgorge. He impacts your "maximum hand size," whereas Abyssal Summoner's battlecry is impacted by "hand size," much the way that "hand size" in Astromancer's text uses number of cards in hand to determine the cost of the summoned minion.
