New Cards Revealed
It all comes via Hearthstone Twitter, with a special newspaper page fresh off the print.
Immune Effects
The rare Immune keyword has been greatly popularized since the introduction of Raid Boss Onyxia, but it's still capable of causing confusion among the playerbase. To recap its implications for greater clarity:
- Immune minions cannot be directly damaged or targeted by the opponent (you can still buff them yourself).
- Just like with Stealth, Immune minions won't be capable of having Taunt effects active.
- Non-targeted or AoE removal will still hit Immune targets - be it Twisting Nether or Deadly Shot.
- The same logic applies to effects that can Freeze and stop Immune enemies for a turn - think Flurry (Rank 1) or Blizzard.
Comments
Wait… this is just straight up 10 mana win the game in most decks. A lot of classes can’t deal with immune minions, so it just straight up wins games, but it is definitely a win-more card that maybe Druid or Hunter could abuse with their big and easy board fills.
This card is either really broken or bad, but I’m leaning towards bad as the metagame is quite fast rn and a 10 mana do nothing with downside will probably get you killed.
He was behind everything all along!!! Even Wrath of the Lich king!
Play this in ramp druid. Play jailer on turn 6, drop double Naga Giants and see if they can freeze or destroy board, and chances are good they can't do shit and proceeds to concedes. The paltry fact that the card destroys your deck can be mitigated somehow by cards like Kazakusan, or just plain nothing because at that point you'll only ever lose to stall or destroy effects, something not every class has or every deck wants to play.
A little worried because as of late hearthstone seems a lot like 'draw this and win', more rockpaperscissors than actually playing anything meaningful. Hopefully its just me.
It's not just you. It's splashy design that gets attention but is terrible for overall game health -- short-term benefits with long-term problems. It also tends to overwhelm and eliminates smaller, more subtle mechanics unless they, too, get massive over-the-top power-ups that shut down playstyles.
mechchtun tier s in wild
Custom Hearthstone is crying RN also golly we're starting to get rather wacky with what Hearthstone is willing to do aren't we?
Someone clarified on a Twitter thread that taunt minions effectively lose taunt when they go immune so that's a minor saving grace. It's one of those polarizing cards that IF it's playable it's going to be REALLY good. I could see Mage running some kind of insane deck with multiple Solid Alibi.
Aye. I've added a whole set of clarifications now to the article, since it can be one confusing keyword for players. Having Raid Boss Onyxia for a while did help with that knowledge.
This + Mal'Ganis.
Mal'Ganis? Pfft.
All classes have access to a cheaper option that does the same thing. May I introduce you to my friend, Bolf Ramshield?
If both players use The Jailer and Bolf, and neither has untargeted hard removal to get rid of the opponent's Bolf, won't it force a stalemate where neither player can win before the 45 turn limit kicks in? If it ever reaches meta status in Wild (at 10 mana we might hope not, but it can happen with druid, who incidentally has no reliable way to remove an immune Bolf), then that will lead to a lot of frustrating 'ends' to games.
Poison Seeds your opponent combo and play yours after. Still, agreed that it sound spretty toxic :)
Druid has been able to do Linecracker plays for the longest time. What is going to happen is people will start to run Mecha'thun alongside their Jailer/Bolfs, just like what Linecracker Druid used to do.
Who would have guessed that 6 mana "gain 9 armor" would potentially break the game one day.
...excuse me, what?
That might get annoying real fast
Anti-synergy with Annoy o Bots
Unique and over the top crazy design. That's how I like my card reveals.
Ehm... Kazakusan
Why even bother. This card should end games in 3 turns most of the time. That’s merely 6 damage from fatigue.
