Stay up to date with all the Return to Naxxramas card reveals in our dedicated guide!
Before we say anything else, let's make sure you know that nothing has been officially confirmed by Blizzard, and the title of this article is 100% taking an educated guess.
Blizzard has posted three new images onto the PlayHearthstone Twitter account along with some descriptions and alt text, confirming some interesting details. As you may well be aware, we're at that stage in March of the Lich King's expansion cycle where the next mini-set should be announced and then released. Blizzard appears to have begun teasing us!
Here are the three images Blizzard posted:
As you can see, we've got a lot of Silvermoon City, and what appears to be the underside of Naxxramas. Blizzard has been writing alt text descriptions to aid in accessibility on Twitter recently, which says a lot more than their actual tweets.
Quote From Blizzard A far-off view of Silvermoon City from the sky. An ominous shadow approaches the city, plunging it into darkness.
A view of the gates of Silvermoon City. Bubbling, green slime creeps towards the gates, withering the surrounding trees as it passes.
A view looking up at a statue in the middle of a plaza in Silvermoon City. Above the statue, floats the underside of an eerily familiar structure.
The "eerily familiar structure" is without a doubt Naxxramas.
What exactly Naxxramas is doing floating on over Silvermoon is anyone's guess, but it's sure going to be interesting to see what new cards we end up seeing as a result of NAXX OUT.
- Perhaps we'll see some reconfigurations of iconic cards from Hearthstone's past Curse of Naxxramas adventure.
- Maybe we'll get some new solo pve content since it's been a while since we've seen any of that.
- Could Curse of Naxxramas be brought back into Standard for a brief period to shake the meta up even more than the simple mini-set?
Let us know your predictions in the comments below. We're getting very close to the mini-set and expect news any day now.

Assuming Naxx is brought back:
Just like with Knights of the Frozen Throne and explicitly unlike Doom in the Tomb, introducing the Curse of Naxxramas will not likely devastate the meta because of how power-crept the game is compared to the the re-introduced cards. It will likely have a more intriguing affect, for the first few hours, because far more players weren't playing HS when Naxx first came out . . . but then that power disparity will kick that effect in the nads and no one will see those cards because the meta will crush them.
So with the exception of a tiny number of cards, this is an Arena/Duels thing.
There's only one card that people will want to play with though it will be hated by a slightly-smaller group. That one card will be 80% of the effect of reintroducing Naxx. Zombie Chow is the next runner-up in general utility; the problem is that control and slow decks don't need to bother with a speedbump so Chow might not even have a place. Everything else will be either utra specialized or tech --
Mad Scientist
Deathlord
-- or possible jank that will be tried and have a slim chance of mattering:
Dancing Swords
Unstable Ghoul -- how come this isn't Undead?
Kel'Thuzad -- ditto.
* The database hasn't been updated; those cards are Undead in the Collection Manager.
A lot of cards in that second category were traditionally good but it's hard to say how they'll fare nowadays. I think Haunted Creeper holds up.
Poison Seeds will see play and it will be awful and terrible and bad. I'm going to try to make Reincarnate work. It won't.
loatheb is still played in wild.
haunted creeper gives 3 corpses for DK (and two of them are undead).
mad scientist will always be good as it draws and plays a card.
nerubian egg might make it? but probably not.
Nerubian Egg is in the core set and hasn't seen much play.
It's probably just gonna be Loatheb that's playable.
