Wild Quest Priest Ranked

List was edited 8/27 due to things I saw working on ladder, this deck now obliterates aggro and simply survives forever due to the Spirit of the Dead

Deck Overview

This is a big minion priest deck that uses the quest to win once it takes the board. We finally have enough board clears with Mass Hysteria and Plague of Death to enable Priest to survive an onslaught of threatening boards. The deck has been nicknamed "Do Nothing Priest" by several streamers because the goal of the deck for turns 1-5 or so is to just use all of you healing cards to stay alive before playing big taunt minions and resurrecting them over and over again.

How to Activate the Obelisk

Against an aggressive deck this quest is quite easy to complete due doing pretty much nothing to stop the aggression unless absolutely necessary before turn 5. This makes getting the better hero power online pretty straighforward. Cards like Divine Hymn, Penance, and Sandhoof Waterbearer work well together with your hero power to give you the healing needed to complete the quest. Against control or combo decks you will need to get creative and try to heal your minions in order to get the quest online.

Mulligan Strategy

You always keep the quest so that will take up one of your mulligan slots, you need to play it to win the game.

Paladin, Warlock, Hunter, Shaman, and Rogue:

Mass Hysteria, Penance, and Zilliax

Warrior:

Archmage Vargoth and King Phaoris

Mage, Druid, and Priest:

Mass Hysteria and Shadow Word: Death

Matchups

Paladin, Warlock, Hunter, and Rogue:

These are the most aggressive decks in the game currently. You are playing a control game here with your resources until you can get a few minions online with the quest to value them out of the game when they run out of ways to kill your giant minions.

Shaman

Shaman is the hardest matchup for this deck because staying alive is not enough. Look to build as big of boards as possible as quickly as you can, once the quest is online you cannot outvalue the Shaman. Your best bet is to try and build a big board to finish them off with a potential Topsy Turvy + Mosh'Ogg Enforcer.

Mage, Druid, and Priest:

These decks look to make massive boards in order to win the game, fortunately we have a lot of board clears and a lot of taunts. You are playing a control game here with your resources until you can get a few minions online with the quest to value them out of the game.

Warrior:

Warrior is a rather boring and slow matchup, try to maximize each of your resources to ensure victory without overextending into board clears. Archmage Vargoth is a fantastic card to add to your resurect pool to improve Mass Resurrection dramatically. King Phaoris should be used while you have all of your unnecessary board clears in hand, it will create a massive board of 5 and 9 drops to get you into position to win the game. Maximize your hero power to make each minion as hard as possible to kill.
