Wow! All of these look pretty strong! Let's look at the them one by one:
Soulciologist Malicia: The legendary seems to be the weakest of all these cards because it costs 7 mana and these two classes draw a lot of cards which could result in you drawing most of your soul fragments before playing her. Also, the other cards destroy the soul fragments in the deck and then she could end up as a 7 mana 5/5 which is absolutely terrible. Kinda weird because it looks totally out of sync with the other cards.
Spirit Jailer: A 1 mana 1/3 is always going to see play and this is a must have card for this new archetype for both classes.
Soul Shear: 2 mana deal 3 damage to a minion is meh. Both classes have better cards for shuffling soul fragments but running this might be a necessary evil as the archetype probably needs all the soul fragments it can possibly get.
Marrowslicer: Maybe DH can afford to skip on Soul Shear if they go for Tempo. This could enable such possibility.
Soulshard Lapidary: It's pretty much a 5 mana 5/5 that deals 5 damage. They need to tank a hit to remove something but it will most likely always go face anyway.
Shardshatter Mystic: Wow! That's some crazy early AoE right there! And it comes with a body?! Insane! Could this finally be the enabler of Control DH?
School Spirits: That's a pretty good early game AoE for Warlock (similar to Breath of the Infinite) and it also shuffles soul fragments into the deck. Control Warlock is going to benefit a lot from this.
Void Drinker: 5 mana 7/8 taunt? I approve this! A pretty good demon for Warlock.
Shadowlight Scholar: Premium 3 drop with a big upside. Very powerful. Shadow Boltcries in the corner.
Overall, this is a pretty exciting new mechanic and it could spark some interest to play DH in me. But only if Control becomes viable.
TBH after reviewing all the cards and seeing all the package as a whole this seems like galakround shaman all over again I agree with AngryShuckle... the enablers are good cards, and the payoff cards are TOO GOOD it's quite obvious to me this will become quite oppressive and will be nerfed.. they could made some generators have some cost to them instead of this being "extra" like they did back then with bomb warrior which was balanced.. those cards are insane and will be too much.
Hm, potential synergy with Lorekeeper Polkelt? Polkelt would sort all your soul fragments to the bottom, keeping them safe for your other cards that need them. You just have to be careful not to create any more soul fragments, since they'd get shuffled into the deck, ruining that nice order Polkelt gave you.
Nicely done! I like how the dual class cards support both class identities at the same time.
The warlock package seems like a strong anti aggro shel while the demon hunter probably just goes smorc and clears small boards simultaneously.
The new mechanic that requires soul fragments in deck for bonuses given to 2 of the most efficient draw classes.
The effect of using these fragments are really insane. Nearly all these cards are good enough, if a little too good, to build around so the soul fragment decks are likely to see play at high levels. At first I thought it too gimmicky, but turns out there's plenty of good cards that shuffles these fragments in deck like Spirit Jailer and Soul Shear, just enough to justify the synergy cards.
Soulciologist Malicia is a little problematic. You need only 1 soul fragment to make it an 8/8 stats for 7, but at the same time since most of the other cards consumes these fragments for good effect, and you're constantly drawing cards means its most likely you'll only ever see her summoning 2 3/3s with rush, and that might be too little to justify her inclusion. Its probably mostly a warlock card, since dhunters would prefer to just end games at that point of time with cards like [Hearthstone Card (soulshard lapidiary) Not Found]
Hm... Part of this package can be used even in zoo. Here is an idea:
Wow, totally didn't expect a new shuffle mechanic system, definitely look like fun!
Hopefully just one Fragment generator is not enough for Odd DH.
Interesting mechanic tho.
Scholomance Academy = Howgarts
Soul Fragment = Horcrux
Glad to see that so far DH has no odd cost cards that generate Soul Fragments!
EDIT: Oh, they have one... damn.
The mechanic is so cool.
Shardshatter is the most insane of the bunch
This is what Bomb Warrior should have been. No obnoxious RNG kills. Lots of variety in what the shuffles can do. Having the base cards not be horrible so you could actually just run them without parasitic support cards. No SMOrc encouraging. This is awesome.
Some of these are crazy overtuned. I predict at least Void Drinker and Shardshatter Mystic will be nerfed before the first month is over.
I have the same feeling about almost every second card that gets revealed - seems like the power level of this expansion is going to be high.
Although these cards look pretty sweet and fun to use, I feel bad for Dekkster. His video was pretty well made, and then these cards come along and steal all of the spotlight.
Funny how they release cards that revolve around a mechanic card that no one can see or know yet.
It's at the end of this post: Soul Fragment: Casts when Drawn, Restore 2 health to your hero.
Really interesting mechanic. This one I actually do find pretty cool.
From a balance perspective it should be noted this fills another weaknesses the class use to have (limited healing), but I suppose they have to widen DH's class focus to something that isn't just more aggression someway.
Warglaives of Azinoth combo...
Ooops. I smell an old interaction here. Nice to see it nerfed
