If there will be a combo Meta, this will mark the return of anti combo warlock
Hate it tbh. Messing with your opponent's deck should not be this easy (yes I do dislike Tickatus as well, thanks for asking).
Very easy card to use, and to destroy decks. I think it is quite powerful and helps with the warlock deck destroyer archetype.
At this point I have spent too much money on these games to quit.
Now pass me another pack, and lets see what I pull.
Oh god, I don't know. They are printing so much support for this "destroy your own deck" Warlock, but what if you burn Neeru Fireblade and he was your win condition?
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Mostly meme for now, but might become stronger if combo decks dominate.
Wow, what a great and totally not obnoxious way to support selfburn Warlock. Can't wait to win games at random because I happened to burn my opponent's win condition while not even trying to.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
5 stars just because thijs sold it so well
ok i thing discard your deck-lock will really be a thing
Really strong in a world where soul fragments are a thing, just negating 1 is good, negating 2-3 is incredible and always is a welcome addition to disrupt your opponent deck.
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
For combo decks this is just fire to they're decks .You can kill c'thun pieces also so they can have a bad time or even c'thun.Maybe the no deck warlock can be a thing not a very op deck but one that can be annoying .
Interesting card, might be included in several decks. In Wild, this can destroy Reno Priest after the opponent plays [Hearthstone Card (Loremaster Polkelt) Not Found]. Even without having seen Polkelt, this getting rid of 3 cards from your opponents deck is potentially game breaking to any combo deck.
and so Warlock continues down a path or blowin up everyones decks. hard enough to see my cards go with tickatus.
players: Tickatus is mean!
Devs: Hold my beer
Its either going to be played in miracle warlock along with Neeru Fireblade, or its going to be played simply to shit on the opponent. Either way, I'm not exactly sure why this card need to exist, since Tickatus is bad enough, but to make it a 1 mana card, like c'mon team5.
I can still defend tickatus since a setup is needed and he's a 6 mana dude that doesn't have taunt or rush. But this card is indefensible. Just play it whenever and wherever. Its not like controlock never floats mana anyway.
People are gonna cry about this. I don't think a burn-your-own-deck warlock plays this on 1. Wait until the imp guy is in hand, then BURN IT ALL DOWN! HAIL SATAN, or Sargenterass, whatever. BURNINATE!
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
Ohohoooooooo!!!! Will play this in every Warlock!
-=alfi=-
Warlock will shuffle a ton of Soul shards into deck so it will destroy them
-=alfi=-
Ugh, I hate it already.
Not sure how viable it'll be though. I don't get this "mill yourself" archetype they're pushing for Warlock, it just seems so damaging. What if you burn Neeru Fireblade, or your other win conditions?
Altar of Fire is a decent tech card against combo decks, but will only really see consistent play if this new "Deck Destruction Warlock" archetype is good. The support is there, the payoffs are there, but since you'll be putting yourself into fatigue rather quickly, the big question is "can you get out of fatigue to survive long enough to make the payoffs work?" The "Prime Gaming" package is still available, as is Educated Elekk, so maybe there's something there. Regardless, it looks like a fun archetype to play (although maybe not as fun to play against).
Seems like a meme card
Rogue DH
Blizzard, why are you keeping printing toxic cards?!
Oooh, this is an evil one. Punishes your opponent at the same time as it synergises with some of your own card. Also great artwork!
Hmmmm yea... this is going to be an annoying card. Lets just hope it's not good and never sees play.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Need more 'destroy cards' combinations to make it work. Or wait till your own key cards in our hand to play it.
So, new archetype huh. What i dont like is, you have a chance to destroy your good cards. And for now, there is only 1 legendary and 2 rare cards to play with this archetype. If there isn't more cards to support this archetype it will not work very well...
Murlocs <3
Still not sold on deck destruction warlock. Hope they pkay it today to see how it fares
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
very hard to rate. Tickatus is played since it has no drawback. I still think you wouldnt want to destroy your deck as well. so I would say this "destroy your own deck" warlock will be a fail. it may come as "draw many cards" warlock with other synergy cards tho.
Auto include in almost any zoolock, I would run this in a control warlock deck but I'm too afraid to burn key cards
4 Mana 7/7
Good against any combo deck, can be played to fatigue your opponent while you shuffle infinite primes into your deck and the new discard your deck archetype.
Wait for the card that gives you back X destroyed cards and the circle is complete..
Don't think this will see any play :D Lovely if your opponent gets this from Yogg though
Not again. First tickatus then this? Alright, I guess I will keep playing aggro just to kill all annoying warlock decks.
Fitting for "destroyurdeckwarlock" type
If you hate warlock before, good news, you're going to hate them more now.
Yeah, this is kinda returning to the same issues "Random discard" warlock has had in the past, you can also burn other key cards you need. Maybe if this things targeted 3 mana or less or non-legendary it could be more consistent.
It has interesting interactions and you can reshuffle cards back into your deck with Envoy Rustwix and whatnot, but still I think too weird and niche of an effect to make sense
I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And even though it is impossible I exist. ©Trimutius
excellent companion to tickatus. it is all coming together for that type of deck now
Indeed Frosty, tired of these destroying deck card
I'm not online it's just your imagination
YIKES! This is 5 stars and going to be toxic to play against 2x of these. This will be nerfed the first month to 2 mana.
Now this card will be super annoying to play against. Not necessarily good, but it will be super triggering.
Okay i'm the kinda person who loves burning cards, for example i love playing Gnomeferatu and i'm impertial towards Tickatus (love to play it, hate to have it against me.). BUT honestly when i see Altar of Fire i HATE it. This effect is WAY too cheap, and WAY too good. I would have been fine with it IF it ONLY milled your own deck, but 1 mana destroy 3 card from BOTH players decks is just UNFAIR. Also be even more careful when playing Lorekeeper Polkelt, because your opponent may have an Altar of Fire ready for you.
Remember when Iksarr said in a AMA that they were fine with Tickatus as long as it doesn't see too much play? Well i feel like Altar of Fire will see so much play in the first few weeks that it will be nerfed 1000% and Warlock might be THE most unfun class to play against, which in turn results into everyone hate Warlock and Warlock players for the next upcoming expansions. (Just like the Shaman hate for a long time after Galakrond Shaman, and the DH hate after DHs dominating for quite a while.)
By the way, THANK YOGG Altar of Fire is a fire spell, because i think we all agree that if it was a shadow spell we would have been screwed because of Tamsin Roame. At least they DID think about THAT.
Alright decks i think it will slot into:
Standard: This new "destroy your deck" warlock, but it might also see play in Tickatus/control warlock as a tech card worst case scenerio. (And they will play it only when it's in their benefit.)
Wild: Mecha'thun warlock will 100% run it, and only use it after they have their combo in their hand. Renolock or Cubelock MIGHT tech in 1 Altar of Fire, in order to destroy Reno priests after they play Lorekeeper Polkelt. Who cares about losing something valueable, when Altar of Fire can win you the game?
As someone who frequently plays Warlock i certainly hope that i'm overreacting, because i REALLY do NOT want to see Altar of Fire ruining the game for a lot of people, myself included.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
I like it, but I don't know if there is a deck you want to destroy willingly. Discardlock started to work when we've got targetable-discard cards or cards that return discards to your hand.
OBLIVION!
Ready to hate this card for the next two years. Thanks again blizzard, after Tickatus, we were hoping for an easier one to destroy opponent game
bah ... very niche applications. One star
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
Destroy your deck warlock is so stupid as many others have pointed out unless you just draw fast and skip the destroy part. Either way this card is just bad
I'm waiting for an epic spell that return X destroyed cards to your hand/deck.
By The Holy Light!
Nice disruption tool, but won't see play outside of Discard Deck archetypes in Warlock (if it becomes a thing) or if a combo deck breaks the game.
Good disruption tool, especially if you already have a combo in hand!
I hate it already. 5 Stars.
Tech card against combo decks and decent in a heavy Soul shards deck. The main problem with milling yourself is the chance to lose your win condition (Neeru Fireblade). RIght now i don't like too much
Hard to say if this card will do well since it wont be so consisent but its a good way to deal with more combo or control decks
I really hate this burn cards, mostly when you can destroy your oponents cards too. Feels really frustrating, isn´t 2x Tickatus in one game already enough? You can easily get rid of 16 cards of your opponents deck this way, that doesn´t sound fun at all to me.
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
Unbelievably bad card to support an even worse card. Only playable if the absolute best deck in the game relies on playing Lorekeeper Polkelt and not drawing cards in the same turn.
Surprised on the Spell school here, would have assumed fire would be for mage, Druid, maybe Warrior.
I mean....fuck this. Its not interesting design Blizzard, stop it. This card is just the the embodiment of some angry child being like "If I can't have fun you can't either!"
Nice simple disruption. Especially if you wait to draw out as much of your deck as possible. Free cards burned.
Might be too easy. I do think Tickatus is a bit easy too. However deck disruption is good for the game. We'll see how it plays out.
Casual Dragon Cardgame enthusiast.
So ... OBVIOUSLY ... and I don't know why I should even have to point this out ... you hold on to this until AFTER Neeru Fireblade is already in your hand. Why do n00bs always act like there's some rule that says you have to play every card as soon as possible?
I'm not saying this will be a great archetype. In fact, it still seems very meme-y to me. But it's definitely starting to feel like it could work.
And for the record, I love that it destroys combos. Every time a combo deck goes down in flames, an angel gets its wings.
Originally I felt that this was going to be awful. But then I started thinking about Zoo in Wild and how wonderful it would be to just watch your opponent's deck go away.
What the cluck? Well at least we have some more Neeru Fireblade synergy. It's interesting because enemy decks are able to come back from one or two Tickatus being played (sometimes...), so Warlock might not mind losing 3 cards all that much, especially if the enemy is also losing some.
My one main problem is that deck burning is a thing. I don't want to say pattern because we've only seen Tickatus be as devastating, but I do worry about any card that can screw with your opponent's deck without any serious consequences.
Started playing HS in May, 2015. The bad news: I missed the excitement of 'Naxx out?' and GvG. The good news: I never met an Undertaker.
Excellent! Just end the game quickly so those 3/6 cards the Warlock destroys are equivalent to 3/6 cards at the bottom of your deck. The game ends before you can play them.
4Head
People are gonna hate this card. I don't think it's good, but people are going to hate it a lot.
me, in tears: "this is fun. I am having fun."
As someone who hates combo decks with a fiery passion, I welcome this card. However, it still surprises me that Blizzard continues supporting archetypes and designs that people continue to pan. At least this makes [Hearthstone Card (Neeru Firelade) Not Found] and Blood Shard Bristleback a bit more interesting.
I doubt it will be used to discard your own deck but rather to mess with your opponents deck. A hard counter to combo decks, nothing more.
And here I was thinking I would give standard a go again. Oh well I guess I'll just stay in wild. This almost ensures I will not preorder. Is it just me or does it seems like the designers are now incapable of designing a balanced control meta. I'm starting to think they are putting degenerate cards like Tickatus and this new abomination to ensure aggro reigns supreme and they don't have to worry about anything past turn 6 or 7.
On the plus side, this does give me hope that we might finally see some tech cards that revive burned, milled, or destroyed cards in the card dump later today. I would like to see a neutral legendary that puts these cards back into your hand. I would also like to see an epic or rare that would shuffle them back into your deck.
I don't know if it will be good, but I already hate it. I'm one of those players that gets the feels bad from any kind of card removal by my opponent. I've always hesitated to play the original tracking because I focus too much on what I lose instead of what I draw, I hate Tickatus, the Warlock Gnome bugs me. This will just be further triggers. Hopefully the no deck Warlock doesn't become a thing.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
This is on the line between "Oh no, this is too good!" and "Oh no, I unpacked this."
I feel it's more of the latter.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Discarding cards from your deck without being able to control what they are most of the time is a serious downside that risks you losing your win conditions. Warlock already has draw that can help them reach fatigue quickly whether it be Life Tap, Free Admission, or Mortal Coil. I don't think Warlock needs to destroy their own deck to achieve the fatigue synergies or destroy their opponent's deck with Altar of Fire when Tickatus exists and doesn't destroy your own deck when corrupted.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Sinergy with Neeru Fireblade, but I don´t like it anyway because of destroy.
If it was discard would be better.
I love Disruption.
I love the Republic.
I don't like it, but might be ok if a deck emerges that successfully destroys opponents deck faster than yours. Seems like a tough task to accomplish reliably. For the memes?
If Polkelt Priest is still as strong as ever come this new meta, then this will probably be a decent warlock tech card just for that. In other cases, it is a good card for control warlock to get a control mirror into fatigue and into a more even playing field when the deck size is for example 1 (warlock) to 3 (other deck). It is also good when the deck sizes are incredibly when hitting a potentially deadly card is very likely (if it still happens to be in their deck). It is also of course good in standard deck destruction warlock.
Ribbit
I really hope this "Fatigue Warlock" deck works. If it does, this will be a staple. It pushes you 3 cards closer to where you want to be and is very frustrating for your opponent.
We just need more payoff for having little to no cards left in your deck.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
now I can see where lock is going this expansion... destroying decks lol
This and Tickatus will cause rage.
oof scared of mill warlock
Shame it is not common or rare, as it might fit in a budget deck.
solid
Kenny's little poet. 😇
Nice
Instant dislike
English is not my native language, so please excuse occasional mistakes
Already hate it, really hope it's just a meme.
meme card but could be fun
Nice support for that new legendary. Maybe wait until you draw it to play both copies of this.
Nice, meme card :) Only for fun games, maybe for some achievements
Not sure you want to run this even if Fatiguelock will be a thing. It'll soon be a dead card if you near the end of your deck.
Arena > Wild > Standard
Yes, I will love this card so much that blizzard will have to make a 10k wins portrait
But a meme that also applies to your opponent deck is something both serious and funny
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Thought it was memey at first but it's cheap and ruins combo decks - just might see play somewhere
Blizz is really pushing self-mill lock.
I don't see that deck working as a whole but as a standalone this card may have some fringe value as an anti combo card.
Tickatus + Uno Reverse card
At first glance this looked like a meme card to me but the more i think about it i think this will see more play than i imagened. Depending of course how the meta will emerge. But this can destroy combos and mess a lot up. And my guess is once you decided to play this you would not care about losing your own cards.
And with the new legendary that gives you the Portal once your deck is empty this could be pretty strong.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
that will be very frustating
good
Remember when you needed to pay 41 mana (over a lot of turns of setup and with the opponent knowing exactly what was happening and therefore being able to atleast attempt to counterplay) to destroy a shitload of cards as warlock? Pepperidge farms remembers.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Really good for annoying your opponent, but unlike Tickatus, you also pay the price. You're not running this unless you're in Toss Warlock and you're probably not playing Toss Warlock unless you're really looking to meme.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Unpopular opinion: Since Glide turned out weak, Team5 will keep doing the untapped disruption mechanics until something becomes mega frustrating finally works out. This is why I was really sad about Glide: not because it's OP, but because it means we'll see more stuff like it, cards which cause incredible frustration for the opponent when they work, and when they don't, they offer very little.
Worth noting that techs as a whole are not a problem at all, e.g. Tickatus is surprisingly fine in this case because he's always a good play when Corrupted, but you do need to Corrupt it and you can only have 1 copy (not counting Y'shaarj). What matters is that techs shouldn't be polarizing, but can instead be somewhat OK even when the tech fails. Dirty Rat is a great example with his high stats, but even with smaller techs like Secret-hate, we are about to get Horde Operative which has much better stats than Eater of Secrets if not facing a Secret deck, while the upside is less good vs. Secret decks.
tl;dr Cards like these shouldn't be so highrolly. This can have zero impact, or win you the game if you remove Mozaki. And it costs 1 Mana at that.
Nice
I hate Tickatus. I hate this. Destroy your own deck all you want, Warlock, but leave mine alone.
~ An expertly disguised dinosaur
The combo killer. I'm already predicting getting very upset due to this card
A More fair way to destroy decks than tictatus
For The HORDE!
maybe in wild, after you get all your pieces for the Mecha Cthun OTK
This doesn't count as Discard right?
I've been here a while; just hanging out in the background.
I think this is garbage in practice, but it's going to make reddit seethe so I like it.
Love it
hate it
People hate Tickatus already. Boy howdy are they going to cry about this one. Fortunately, I don't think this will get a ton of high level play. (Crosses fingers).
Fatigue Warlock, I like it!
As someone who enjoys giving my opponents pain, I like this card.
the only thing it can do is to disrupt combos. tech meme card
Love it. Anti combo and disrupted your opponents deck.
I always find it weird that I love Mill in MtG and Yugioh but hate the equivalent ideas in Hearthstone. Then I remember that Hearthstone has way smaller decks and no way to ever interact with your lost cards, and I stop finding it weird.
Welcome to the site!
May see play in wild to stop annoying combos. Maybe standard too, who knows.
I enjoy burning my opponent's cards so much! My own, not so much. But some of the best things in life require certain sacrifices to be made. Watching your opponent tilt as their win condition goes up in smoke is worth any price.
I can already watch the trolden highlight
