Two new bundles featuring United in Stormwind Packs and Legendary cards have appeared in Hearthstone's shop. These bundles are available for the next two weeks, through August 23, and more details on them, and whether or not they are worth buying, can be found below.
United in Stormwind Bundle
Available in-game and on Battle.net's shop.
The first bundle is available to all and contains the following for $20 USD:
- 10x United in Stormwind Packs
- 10x Standard Packs
- 2x Random United in Stormwind Legendaries
Is this bundle worth picking up? If you are still on the hunt for legendary cards, the answer is a very clear YES! If a pack on average nets you 100 Arcane Dust (okay, 98.25 if you want to be picky), you'd have to open 16 packs before you could craft a legendary card. The cheapest card pack that is available on both mobile and desktop is $1.25 USD, which means a single Legendary would cost $20 USD to obtain.
Now, obviously these are random legendary cards so their value may not actually be 1600 dust, but instead 400 since you don't want to play with the card. We'll also disregard the fact that each legendary you acquire makes it easier to get a legendary you actually want in the future, since that also has to have some value. In the case that the card isn't one you want though, each legendary is worth $5 for a total of $10. Adding in the 20 packs, that's a total value of around $35.
If you want to spend the money, this is great value.
Golden Stormwind Bundle
Available in-game to select players.
This bundle is not available to everyone. I can only assume this targeted the whale players of Hearthstone, though let us know in the comments if you don't fit that criteria and still see it. The bundle is a thing of beauty containing the following for $40 USD:
- 1x Random Golden United in Stormwind Legendary
- 10x Golden United in Stormwind Packs
Wow. That is an expensive bundle, but is it worth it?
If you aren't a player that goes after golden cards, this bundle will never be worth the value. Take your $40 USD and put it towards other card packs or wait for a new bundle.
Next, you have to remember that golden card packs do not have a pity timer. Opening a golden pack will always have the exact same odds for each of the card rarities.
For the players that love to make their decks glimmer though... there is some serious value here! I can't say I'm incredibly excited about getting a golden legendary though at this point in the expansion because I already have the legendary cards that I want so whatever card I do get, it's not going to be interesting and I'd be hoping it gets nerfed to later disenchant and use the dust elsewhere.
Assuming the absolute worst luck, and getting a golden legendary you don't want, this is what you'd be able to dust everything for:
- 1x Golden Legendary = 1600 Dust
- 40x Golden Commons = 2000 Dust
- 10x Golden Rares = 1000 Dust
For a grand total of 4600 Dust.
We previously established that a normal card pack gives you roughly 100 Arcane Dust at $1.25 (cheapest bundle available cross-platform). If you spent your $40 USD on packs at that price per pack, that would net you 32 packs or on average, 3200 Arcane Dust. So, assuming the absolute worst luck, and you just want to get dust to craft cards, this bundle is worth purchasing over regular cards if you want to disenchant the contents.
Now, as someone who loves golden cards, I'm still going to need to think about the purchase even though the value is clearly there. Its a solid chunk of change to spend towards flashy cards... though it is cheaper than if you were to try and craft all the cards individually.
Will you be picking up either bundle? Let us see your best pack openings from them in the comments below!

They should give us golden bundles earlier.. I bought both preorder bundles and use my gold to buy 70 more packs. With 3 legendaries from rewards track I complete everything. Now even i want to buy golden packs i wont. Just give us golden preorder bundle who wants golden packs. Also this way we can open guaranteed golden legendary first 10 packs too. I dont wanna buy golden bundles after i complete my normal set. 20 golden packs and 2 random golden legendary would be nice for 3rd preorder option.
Does anyone know how legendaries work with nerfs? Thinking about dusting the legendaries hit by the nerfs, then buying this 20$ set to get them back guaranteed and disenchant again. Will it work or do they disable duplicate protection for legendaries too following nerfs?
No, dusted cards still count as owned for exactly this reason. You won't re-open the same card again until you got every card of the rarity and set atleast once, at this point the card is completely random.
Good to know, thanks!
I wanted to buy the 20 bundle but i can't, i have paypal but without a card on it so i cant pay with my paypal even if there is enough money on it. And i dont have credit card, so basicly, i can't give blizzard money even if i want to...
They seem desperate, clearly Activision needs money to pay all those defense attorneys... Come on guys, they need your money!
The expansion came out just a week ago and they are already milking customers with an overpriced bundle? Pathetic... But do you know what is even more pathetic? Paying money for the current state of the game. Maybe Blizzard should worry about fixing the game first, before milking us for cash...
This game costs more than any other game if you buy all the bundles for each expansion... and even then you are not guaranteed to have the complete collection. I'm sure Blizzard is easily milking some people 500 to 1000 bucks a year, which is absurd.
I'm a whale, I'm addicted to buying all the bundles for the mere fact of buying everything they put on sale, but enough is enough, I can't give them so much money anymore when I see all these women and men treated like shit. Also, when I see that Bobby receives a $ 100,000,000 bonus, it means that I am paying too much for his product. I'm not going to be a part of this greedy mob. Not anymore.
this has happened for the past two years?
Preorder, mega preorder, tavern pass, bundle no.1, bundle no.2, book of heroes, book of mercenaries, battlegrounds bundle no.1, battlegrounds bundle no.2. It disgusts me really..
I got offered the golden bundle and I am a mini whale, spending an average of 20 per expansion. Not buying it but the 20 one seems pretty good
I got offered the whale bundle but haven't bought anything from Blizzard for over 20 bucks since 2019.
So it must calculating from beginning of time.
I bought a couple bundles back in 2019/early 2020 myself. I've probably only spend around $100 ever on this game, and I haven't spend a cent in over a year. They still offered me the whale bundle.
Got 3 extra legendaries from 20 packs. Total of 5 legendaries for $20!
I've been very lucky for the last two expansions. But the new reward system and legendary offerings helped a lot.
I was able to collect all the legendaries in Barrens (I think I've crafted only 2 of them) with buying the small pre-order, tavern pass and a similar offer like this one.
For Stormwind, I'm missing only 3 legendaries (again only bought small pre-order, tavern pass and this offer). When I reach lvl 50, I'll get another one so most probably I'll be able to collect all legendaries by crafting only two legendaries again.
Very tempted to buy this, since I’ve only opened 3 legendaries (Rat King, Bolner, Jaxon, no quests) in about 80 packs since launch. No preorders but I bought tavern pass, I guess that extra 20$ might be well spent.
Its actually a break from the usual, because convention would be to offer 20 packs from the previous expansion now, and then two months later to offer another with 20 of the current expansion.
Well, this deal does get you 10 more packs from stormwind, but the split can mean you're a little less likely to get a legendary off the 20 packs since they're 10 each rather than 20 of the same.
I got The Demon Seed, Maestra of the Masquerade and Kargath Bladefist.
Finally getting the Warlock questline, I attempted to revitalize my old Stealer of Souls deck. While it's still fun, I figured that with the questline and all the new Warlock spells, it would be both possible and rewarding to go all-in on Stealer of Souls, which led to this:
Was offered the whale bundle but price is way to steep I think. Did buy the other one, and ended up with 4 or five legendaries, so that was ok (counting the two from the bundle)
2 or 3 legendaries in 20 packs is hella nice. OK is mildly putting it.
EDIT: Just opened 4 out of 20 myself just now...6 legendaries total. I'd say I pulled in a good awesome amount. Even good stuff from previous expansions like Deck of Lunacy that I DE'd for the free dust.
Auctioneer Jaxon and Command the Elements, plus a Voidtouched Attendant from the packs. That's okay, I guess.
I got offered the whale bundle as well but I'm not much interested in golden cards.
Did buy the other one though and got Highlord Fordragon and [Hearthstone Card (the final showdown) Not Found] as well as Lothar from the packs. Diamond Benedictus I'm coming for you!
If you’re calculating the value of this deal, I recommend that you don’t think about the cost of individual packs or Legendaries. Instead, think about what you need to have fun with the game.
If you accept that a pack of 5 cards is worth $1.25, or a Legendary is worth $10, then guess what? Blizzard will keep offering you deals better than that, and you’ll sink hundreds of dollars into the game. The reality is that cards don’t have a static value to YOU. Your first 60 packs are vital to get all the Commons and Rares. Your next 60 are important to get a few more Epics and Legendaries, along with the dust to craft more. The 60 after that are nice, but have diminishing returns because you’ll have already drawn or crafted the most important cards for you. The ones after that are even less important.
So what do you want from the game? Is it enough packs to play a few competitive decks per expansion? Most competitive decks per expansion? A complete set? Also some cosmetics? Ok, now that you’ve decided that, what is it worth to you? Divide that over 4 months and decide if that’s a fair “subscription” price for the enjoyment Hearthstone will give you.
When I first started playing, the $50 pre-orders gave me the cards I needed from the current set (when added to my gold, of course), and the occasional other deal helped me stretch my resources to catch up on the older sets I hadn’t gotten. Then as my collection fleshed out, I only wanted the pre-order deal. Just as I was thinking that I should pay a little less, the new rewards track came out. Now I get all the cards AND cosmetics I could want from buying that pass and sometimes the mini-set. Some of the other deals are tempting, but I pass on them because I don’t need to dump more cards into my collection. It would just be wasted money.
You may decide you want more (or less) than me. Your decision may involve the occasional mid-expansion deal like this. That’s fine. I just encourage you to decide on a budget and a goal ahead of time so you don’t get tricked into buying more “good deals” than you actually want.
