or will they nerf CC?
Since they printed 10/10 taunt guy and I believe conjurer spell is a silly card. I think nerf would be good idea so Mage can do something else than relying on conjurer spell only.
Nerfing a core card on mage can ruin the deck archetype, but I think its still gonna be good card after it receives a nerf.
I think there are some very fun and interesting cards being released for mage this expansion.
I don't think any of them are better than something big > CC.
As such the new mage cards will see play for a bit as they're new but then once the novelty wears off every mage will be back to cyclone / freeze mage.
Same with warrior, new cards look fun but everyone knows Dr Boom is OP and they will be back to control warrior as no deck can out value a warrior with infinite rush mechs plus the barrage of removal at warriors disposal.
I was kind of expecting a nerf to CC (maybe indirect) and to HoF Brawl.
Its likely that it won't be printed until next set or the one after as they usually work a few sets ahead and probably hadn't noticed an issue by the time this set hit the final design stages
3 mana Conjurer's Calling is a stupid card that shouldn't exist.
I like the idea behind the spell and I find it incredibly amusing: I've tried it myself playing understatted big minions (Meteorologist, Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk) and it has always given me something better than what I offered.
The fact is that this card highrolls really hard: despite needing a bit more set up, the principle is the same that brought Naga Sea Witch to her nerf. Big minions in the early games for little mana that most classes can't deal with.
The situation has become even more problematic with the buff of Luna's Pocket Galaxy, despite not being this last card's fault at all.
Being 3 mana means that it can be discovered with Magic Trick too, and I'm not even considering all the other "created by" effects. I think some time ago I conceded a game where I killed fifteen giants or so.
As I was saying at the beginning, the card concept is cool, but its cost is absolutely ridiculous. If you bump it to 4 mana, it means that mages won't be able to use it before turn 7 and (starting from turn 10) 3 times per turn.
Conjurer's Calling is not the only stupid card in Standard right now, but it certainly ruin the ladder experience as it is right now. Adding two bad minions to the 10 mana pool will bring you little to nothing unfortunately, cause you can always use it again.

On top of that with twinspell. What were they even thinking when they printed it
I'm totally fine with the Twinspell part. Every class should have powerful tools. But the cost is what makes this card beyond reason: not that the deck's win rate is sky high (I currently have a 60% winrate against it as a Tier 3 Midrange Hunter), but it really feels bad to play against it: you mulligan for your removals knowing that, even killing everything your opponent plays, he can always summon a big board of 12 drop from hand. And you can do nothing but playing aggro.

Give the new expansion a chance already. Both priest and warlock get hard boardclears. Shamans Earthquake almost does the trick aswell. Other decks get fast and sticky minions and may be able to outtempo the mages.
Btw, conjurers itself is a strong card but not broken. The synergy with 12-Mana minions played on turn 4 is. Conjuring astromancers is rarely that big of a deal.
The giants are dictating the meta once again. Unable to remove a 8/8 on turn 4? Well your deck is tier 2 at best. It has been the same with different handlock versions over the years and it‘s pieking with the conjurers synergy right now.
Remember how everyone cried because of good old 4 mana 7/7? Well giants are bigger and don‘t overload.
If they ever nerf or Hof cards, i would be happy if they do so, a couple weeks into the new expansion to shake up things once again.
Winner winner chicken dinner
Yes, I was expecting such an indirect nerf. Something like King Phaoris which now muddies the 10-mana slot. Of course, they also added Colossus of the Moon so obviously Blizzard was sending us a mixed message.
Well first off I am a mage fan so I will not say anything bad about conjurer's calling, but lets summarize:
1. Your first 4 turns are weak since you have to keep your hand-size big meaning you can only play stuff that draws or discovers, which have lower stats on average. If Opponent curves out standard 1, 2, 3, 4 drops he will have 8 dmg on bord as minions easily. So you expect the opponent to be able to kill that first giant.
2. You have to draw/mulligan a giant, chances are about 50%.
3. Then you have to draw a conjurer's calling, chances are 60%.
4. The holy grail combo with Khadgar: 30% chance to draw the Khadgar in time.
So basically, opponent faces a giant on 4 half of the time. If it is not killed, say opponent can also kill it half of the time based on his luck with draw, then you have 60% chances to face 2 giants and .6 * .3 = 12% chance to face 4 giants+khadgar. In all other cases, you just got 4 turns to do whatever you want. I say these are not bad odds, and that 's why mages are not overpowered. If any aggro deck hits the nut draw (which I did not calculate the chances for) you can also pack your bags and conceide.
Let me summarize:
50% chance = you start with 4 turns to do what you want so you will be ahead 10 mana worth of bord.
50% chance = you have to kill 1 giant
30% chance = you have to kill 2 giants or face another conjurer;s calling next turn
12% chance = you have to kill 4 giants and khadgar on turn 5 and boy you will be in a lot of pain.
I do not see a reason to nerf conjurer's calling for this. Silence priest can have a 4-5 and a 5-5 minion ready to rumble on turn 3, which is way stronger. But they do not have conjurer's calling to keep going I admit.
That there needs to be more counters to Dr. Boom. Mage is one of the only consistent counters
