Year of the Dragon
This new Standard year took with it three sets to the Wild format as well as several cards to the Hall of Fame; as is tradition. This Standard year began in April 9th 2019 and was announced February 28th 2019.
Sets that left Standard format:
This year, nine cards in total became part of the Hall of Fame:
Developer's Notes: Over the past several years, we’ve seen a number of strong, aggressive Paladin decks. While we like Paladin’s identity as a minion-summoning and minion-buffing class with a fair amount of resource generation, card draw doesn’t also need to be one of the Paladin’s strengths. Divine Favor is one of the most cost-effective draw spells in the game, so to better emphasize other classes’ strengths and to provide better control over the power level of future aggressive Paladin decks, we are moving Divine Favor to the Hall of Fame. |
Developer's Notes: As masters of Demons, Warlocks have long been a powerful board-control class. While we like that minion combat is as much a part of the Warlock’s identity as destructive magic, we want to acknowledge and embrace the class’s weaknesses when they lose control of the board. To that end, we want to limit the amount of damage a Warlock can deal from their hand. As a powerful Charge minion, Doomguard pushes against the Warlock class identity, so we are moving it into the Hall of Fame. |
Developer's Notes: Druids have always had excellent flexibility and a number of different tools when it comes to generating mana, cards, and minions, but have long struggled to remove their opponent’s large minions. Naturalize effectively nullifies that weakness, giving Druids a powerful option in matchups where card advantage doesn’t matter. Moving it into the Hall of Fame enforces the Druid’s weakness in removing large minions, maintaining its class identity. |

I think you must add a fact that " The solo adventure content will be available over the course of 4 weeks".. similar to how previous adventures worked and not like these recent runs.
Heistbaron Togwaggle looks really fun
This expansion looks like the best one ever. Totaly cool cards doing really cool stuff. Good job Blizz.
Feeling like this expansion has some pretty cool idea's Always a fan of value oriented Hunter cards and I love the combo breaking that seem to be introducing.
Looks like value's back in the menu! Hoping to see a more balanced meta this time around where both value and tempo are viable strategies!
Kinda hyped for this expansion, there are already powerful cards that allow crazy combos, and all cards aren't revealed yet! Can't wait!
Excited for this new expansion and for the site. Hoping to see more paladin buffs though, to help put together an Immortal Undatakah Paladin deck, with buffs and magnetic effects on Prelates and Mechano-Eggs. So far looks like they are finally pushing the Dragon Paladin archetype more.
I'm looking at Mage and Paladin this expansion. Yay dragons!
I am super excited for this expansion. the new meta will be incredible with no more deathknights, baku+genn, and other random infinite junk.
hopefully things will slow down and be a little less hectic. I am moving from wild to standard for the next few months (maybe for good??) to enjoy the game without a crazy amount of combos and junk. I am especially excited to try out big shaman!
I'm so excited for the new expansion!!! I've been saving up my gold.
I love it, can't wait for the new meta!
This expansion is looking as promising as our new forum!!!! Looks amazing
Out with big spell mage, in with small spell mage?
I like the combo breakers, i hate to get them when most of combo decks die with rotation.
Cannot wait for the 9th of April, really good to see most DK's go and explore a new meta. Hopefully we get multiple playable decks for every class. Gonna try for legend, just like every other month an expansion hits.
Hype is increasing with each new card revealed. I cannot wait!
I am looking forward to OTK shenanigans!
Can't wait for the power level of cards to finally change, good bye sweet price Keleseth.
Nice complete guide. Ty.
Pretty good cards so far! I really hope that Fel Lord Betrug sees some play. Hopefully some stupid mechathun combo can be made involving him.
