  • lol, well there goes all those hopes and dreams.

  • Took them this long to realise that king krush is more likely to kill himself than actually accomplishing anything useful.

Sadly its simply not enough, even with his monstrous attack. PvP have no use for him, and PvE enemies now sport so much damage, even on blues, that even gaining 5 health per attack will still end up with a dead dino 90% of the time. Should've made it immune while attacking quite frankly, because why not? Krush is about as useless as it gets, especially considering that Ysharaaj is just objectively the better choice.

  • Judging by how they did it with diablo immortal, most of the best products would probably be about 100-200 runestones off the 500 round number. There's probably ways to earn these in-game, in such a way to encourage spending. I dont think we'll see those 50 runestone fuckyou deals but who can say, its certainly not beyond them at this point.

  • Its only a matter of time anyway. BG is coming up in popularity and blizz isn't going to let this slide without some wads of cash slipping into their pockets. So the next big thing is to bring up new currencies, remove gold from BG, and make tons of cash off their adoring fans. Here's an idea blizz, free of charge, just give BG its own server and client already and stop forcing me to update hearthstone for a mode I simply dont care about. At very least I'll be relieved to know some of the profits actually goes towards player experience and not into Bobby's ill-deserved bonus package.

But new currency. Nobody asked for it, but here it is. Wouldn't be too long before regular hearthstone gets stoned to death by it, so let's have a more positive perspective. We might be able to buy the stones using another currency to cheapen the costs, or buy it in bulk during promotions to be spent at a different date. What with USD going up and my own country's down in the pits, the exchange rate has gotten so insulting that Im tempted to buy these digital stones if only because I know it'll get worse later.

Certainly a step in the wrong direction. But with any luck the resulting furor and pitchforks might force a more amicable implementation that might just improve the gaming experience.

  • Is there a way to multiply the number of locations available per game? Two locations per game works up about 25 games and I'd much rather shorten it.

Far as I know there's no reliable way to do it.

  • Its actually been consistently dropping it to me after each 2 hours in the past, which is why its surprising that it didn't this time.

Did you get yours after 2 hours?

  • Pretty sure Ive watched 3 hours of GM so far, still no pack.

    Anyone with the same problem?

  • You'll probably put a better argument if you actually name those nerfs that were done apparently because of 'bronze players' so everyone here can have a cogent argument.

Because from what Ive seen I can't exactly argue with team5's decision here, with the exception of stag nerf.

  • Nerfs were pretty much as expected, and Im glad to know I'll be getting a bunch of dust thanks to the very slight wildseed nerf.

    But buffs hmmmm...

    - The buffs to the two relic cards in dhunter are a bit strange because I was sure they'd just buff Relic of Phantasms instead, that card being shit for obvious reasons at 3. I guess the idea here is that dhunter does so badly against implock that Relic of Extinction got the nod instead.

The change to Relic Vault makes it so it curves into Relic of Dimensions on second use. A not insignificant buff. Abyssal depths is at least competent, but I doubt it'll suddenly make the class tier 2.

    - Changes to pally's dude cards are still not going to make the class playable. Team5 should just bite the bullet and call this expansion a dud for paladin. And why not? Implock and hunters are too fast, build bigger boards, shaman and mage can freeze the board for 4-7 turns, and pure pally's a meme, even after this pathetic buff to the invitations.

Should have at least reverted Cariel's nerf. I doubt these changes bring pally anywhere above midtable.

    - Warrior buffs are good, but without any solid card draw options the class will remain weak. Probably at least they wont be below 40% power level. Honestly though, just revert the nerfs to From the Depths. I know its unpopular, but the power level of other decks have gone to the point that I dont think that matters too much. And besides which, there's no more scam nellie, so what's the problem with warrior having conditional discounts? We're quite content to have shaman cheat a billion murlocs out after 3, rogue playing their whole hand in one turn, or druid getting a 5 mana advantage, and apparently this is a problem?

    - Rogue buffs would be impactful. But secret rogue will remain shit. Halkias may have stealth now, which substantially makes the card more powerful but that wouldn't alter the fact that the secret package itself is shit. If Kidnap got buffed to 'when' instead of the current 'after' I'd be singing another tune. But guess that's not forthcoming.

The buffs to Bibliomite and Magnifying Glaive are perhaps an indication of how difficult it is to balance the game between 30 and 40 health. The mite can do about 10 damage or at least 5 early game before being removed. And that matters, but not so if you have 40 health. And so where does this end? Now every aggro deck has to have reload, or be able to push a massive minion by turn 3, because if they dont they get destroyed by value because with 40 health the opponent can afford to greed. Druids will likely never play without renathal for that reason.

Eventually we're going to reach a point where aggro decks simply destroys 30 health simpletons whereas struggle against 40 health chads. Is this really where we want to head towards? Game being decided after hearing the intro sound effects? Pally's too slow, warrior has no reload, dhunter can no longer burst, and they all suck because they're facing 40 health greed classes and 30 health ultra aggro decks.

Maybe team5 should review Prince Renathal before the damage gets worse.

  • 3 turns wait + the fact that getting stag isn't guaranteed? In my opinion, if there was a card that needed a nerf it would be Wild Spirits, a card that's practically carrying all versions of hunter including quest, which really shows how good the card is.

Face hunter already lost their cheese owing to the hotfix, and Im only afraid this change makes it twice as hard against renathal decks, pushing all hunter players towards quest instead.

  • Okay, nerfs, and a small part of buffs revealed. My opinions;

    - Vile Library nerf is small, very small, but to be expected. Early game this card easily snowballs, but implock being so easy to play against that Im not surprised that team5 only lightly tapped it on the hand. However, I think implock will continue to be that day 1 deck that at some point team5 would probably be forced to nerf it again, if only because the deck keeps traditional board classes like paladin unplayable. We'll see.

    - Snowfall Guardian nerf is necessary, because the mirror matches are getting absolutely atrocious to handle. I think the real culprit here is macaw, but technically this forces shamans to deckbuild in a different direction, so I guess its fine. No more auto wins against board decks.

    - Celestial Alignment may never recover from this. Good. I would prefer if team5 were to design the druid class away from that feast or famine identity, but this is a good decision nevertheless.

    - Stag nerf unnecessary. Quest hunter will continue to do what they do, and face hunter is only ever on fringes especially the higher up you go. Hopefully the dust refunds affect all its cards.

As for buffs, I think I'll touch on it when the full list comes out. But out of the bat I feel team5 is making a mistake with buffing edwin. Rogue is already scamming wins as we speak, and while overall their win rate may not be as good as it seems, Im getting tired of losing to a deck that essentially highrolls itself to victory. We already have druid bs to contend with, we certainly dont need another class doing it.

Apart from anything else, the correct set of buffs for rogue should be getting would be to their secret package which stink so hard you can smell it three rooms away 4 years ago. Is it so hard to make Kidnap prevent battlecries? Because that card is so underwhelming its comical.

I knew keeping all those kobold illusionist cards from the past was a good idea. Nice payoff after merely 5 years of waiting.

  • Hearthstone needs to be fun. And Brann is a fun card. As for whether something needs to be addressed, that one Im not exactly sure. Because Ive rarely ever see those cards combo out. Playing those decks myself, I rarely get to do it because there's no effective tutors to all those cards and the mad duke along with mutanus still exist to disrupt it.

That problem with guff is still mostly the amount of ramp rather than total mana in my opinion. We're talking a 4-5 mana advantage around turn 5-6, that's not normal. Even if we limit the total mana to 12 that's hardly going to help when your opponent has an extra 4 mana above you anyway.

  • Personally the biggest problem with guff isn't really the amount of mana available, its the terrible ease of which the class ramps after guff. 1 mana ramp is about as broken as it is, to the point that if I ever saw them draw with hp I immediately think Im going to win the game.

An appropriate nerf would be for the hp to grant empty mana crystals, and for the hero itself to cost 6. But since they're committed to banning it from duels, I guess that's an indication that a nerf to this card isn't forthcoming, much to my displeasure.

  • Quote From Aesan

In a way, Prince Renathal has certainly made the whole deck compilation business trickier than it used to be. And now there is always that question of whether it actually improves any of the existing archetypes compared to their 'base' 30-card versions, which only seems to encourage players to keep testing.

I think its fairly unanimous that the card is mostly beneficial to both hunter and druid. Quite a niche for other classes as it stands currently.

Renathal might as well be an exclusive druid card because I cannot imagine druid playing without it. The class has always, in my opinion stupidly, had 'inconsistency' as part of its identity so team5 justifies printing loads of OP cards for this one class because druids tend to die before they play them anyway. That 40 health helps a ton, and since druid tend to draw well enough and their cards are insane anyway the extra 10 cards might as well be part of the benefits.

Same with hunter. Loads of great end game stuff but without healing and only 30 health I think team5 calls it balanced. But here comes 40 health and suddenly hunters can actually ignore board, hp face, and play their end game so its all benefits to them. Suffering only the mild inconsistency, but high rolls make it insufferable nevertheless.

Im only afraid that team5 would now turn their attentions to dhunter's power level (or lack thereof) next and suddenly we're facing 15 damage to face on turn 6. And where does that end? 8/8 divine shield turn 4 for pally next? Rogue drawing their deck turn 5? Whatever it is, 40 health is not trifling, and a lot more difficult to balance without upping power levels.

I really feel Prince Renathal should grant 10 health but at the same time shuffle 10 random cards into their deck. That to me is a more balance card, but admitably I dont think its going to happen. And druids would probably still play it anyway.

  • Its likely pre-nerfed quest pirate is still better than implock, but only because its minions are more resilient to answers and it has a scam late game. I wouldn't say implock is a trashy zoo deck because you simply can't ignore any of the tokens it creates on board. Try not having a board clear by turn 4 and you just die. And even then if they answer with rafaam after that, that's another board clear needed or you die.

Of course, it doesn't help that every deck on earth is teching against it, and the deck has absolutely no burn plan or late game. But I wouldn't be too surprised if the deck gets nerfed at some point in the future.

  • I would discourage you from playing implock despite its hsreplay stats.

Every one and their mother's dog is playing around implock its not even funny. Ive seen decks play Wild Pyromancer just because of it. Feels really terrible to be honest, to see your deck being hard-targetted. The deck can still win of course, but every now and then you feel like a worm at the end of a fishing pole.

If you have the cards, definitely try minelock or curselock instead. Since practically no one is running viper right now it feels incredibly broken just playing rod on 5.

  • Alright, first impressions after about 5 days of the new expansion.

Best class currently is hunter. I dont think we need any explanation here. The game plan is simple, whether quest, big beast, or face, you're very likely not making real decisions but instead just dropping stuff and hp face. Basically as long as you're alive youre probably only ever losing to a big Sire Denathrius play, assuming of course the hunter games ever reaches 10 mana at all. Overwhelm with spirits, beasts, and hit face. What else is there?

After hunter, mage, warlock, and druid tugs it out for 2nd place and its again not very difficult to see why. Implock basically wins or lose around turn 5 and if you dont have a board clear by turn 4 you're probably dead. Mage plays a slower game, but with Nightcloak Sanctum and the plentiful of skeletons everywhere chances are good you'll either swing board or stall long enough to build up your hp to ridiculous levels and win there. And if that's not enough, there's lists playing the sire or modresh with Kael'thas Sinstrider, I think that's more than enough said.

Druid on the other hand is like all druids post AoO. Just draw the cards you need and win. Basically druids only loses to itself. Even implock can't fully deal with a druid that draws like god. I havent had the displeasure of playing against many Celestial Alignment druids but I pretty much expect the same result. Ramp, guff, scale, denathrius, win. Replace denathrius with whatever bs the deck is build with.

The other classes. Shaman, sometimes too slow against imps and hunter, basically a DoA if you dont scam a board out of nowhere, either via Clownfish or evolve cards by turn 4. Priest is good, but one board clear and its practically over. Paladin is dead, haven't played against one or with one. But based on my experience if the other party is faster with board paladin is dead and so happens we're in such a meta. Dhunter is also dead for the same reason. Even worse now, because if you ever see renathal trigger you're probably going to lose. Warrior is the only class I think can get better as the lists improve, but I havent got round to trying it myself.

In my opinion at some point of time, team5 would probably do something about Prince Renathal because Im getting increasing concerned over the power level needed to commensurate with 40 health.

Nerf targets (probably too early, but here's my take)

Something something quest hunter, druid might take a hit somewhere because Im 100% sure they will nerf everything else before actually nerfing Wildheart Guff, Impending Catastrophe or Vile Library might get moved to 3 mana, Nightcloak Sanctum might get its uses nerfed to 2.

Likely buffs are more needed this time rather than nerfs. But I think team5 would more likely do buffs at a later date than the usual first wave 1-2 weeks in.

  • Looks like the report feature will be a thing after all. Im not exactly sure I like the idea, because my opponent being a bot has in the past helped out tremendously whenever Im trying to complete those pesky expansion achievements.

Not even sure if anyone would actually report it. From my own experience, not only are there really, really complex bots out there (making it difficult to mark it as one) they all tend to wallow around the bottom barrel of bronze, likely very low MMR.

On the murloc holmes bug, I havent actually experienced it, because unlike nellie, mr holmes is fairly useless. I only saw it a couple of times so far, and it seems like you need to get all three correct to get even one card at all, making it even worse than first imagined.

  • Got 6 legendaries out of 100 packs.

    Kryxis the Voracious

    Artificer Xy'mox

    Remornia, Living Blade

    Imp King Rafaam

And of course, had to get the least useful legendaries in both The Countess & Stewart the Steward. Whenever I get some luck with the number the quality will then be in question.

Oh well, can't really complain too much since I got rafaam, likely one of the most useful legendary week 1. Implock have been practically winning everything, but being an aggro deck that's hardly unexpected in the first few weeks.

  • Unfortunately the war and sanctions go far enough that many western businesses simply withdrew their businesses, either out of moral reasons (which considering how business are run these days, moral fibre is not something we should be speaking about) or because they risk having their assets froze out if it escalates further.

But I do find it strange that russians dont get to buy stuff with the in-game gold. More likely its because the updates etc. cant reach there as yet. It'll make more sense if blizz bars russians from buying their stuff with rubles.
