After we're sustainable, the main question becomes how can we use extra revenue to grow even more. There are a lot of things that we could do for the card game community as a whole, and more dedicated people on the staff is always going to be a good goal to reach.
On a more charity note though, I always love the "random" charity events held in the gaming community throughout the year. I think it would be really cool to get some awesome people together to do something similar, using the platform for a good cause. Not something we can immediately jump into, but it has definitely crossed my mind.
I looked into this and have deployed a fix. There were a couple of oddities with some people not getting proper credit and it looks like this should be the last case covered. So sorry for the trouble!
If you end up stopping your support on Patreon in the future, please reach out and I'll credit your account with extra supporter time. The same goes for anyone else who has had issues and I can verify that it is the case.
We're going to be getting some nerfs soon to a bunch of stuff, including Deathrattle Rogue, so there's a decent chance mage can pickup some steam from that. We've also got 35 new cards coming out at some point in the near future which could open up a lot of new and exciting options.
You will never see anything that overlays the site or intentionally redirects you. If a bad advertisement that redirects does show up, we'll squash it as soon as we know about it.
December would have been the most interesting with the expansion launch, though it probably would have just heavily diluted the results, adding tons of junk data to the rank 25-16 area. November is likely a more accurate representation of the majority of the year since it wasn't a crazy hype area of the year. It would be interesting to see if December buffed up the low end back up to 75% of the player base, or even higher.
I recommend you bookmark this page if you only want to see Hearthstone stuff. It is accessible by the "HS" part of the navigation on the site, or if no game has been selected, using the game select dropdown and clicking on Hearthstone. That is our Hearthstone portal on the site. https://outof.cards/hearthstone/
Three months should always be remembered by Hearthstone players - the months expansions launch! Those are always April, August, and December. Every 4 months = an expansion.
I love the "lASOIA!@#!$FGDASGB!#&^SDG!)*$" aspect :D
Ehhh they weren't too bad. There have certainly been times in the part where hunter was crazy good to the point where it felt wrong, but the start of last year didn't feel like that, at least to me. Could be a case of Hunter being more overpowered before then so any big advantage they had early last year didn't seem to be a big deal.
I'd definitely like to see some more mill cards added to the game, but nothing to make it really shine as an archetype again.
A couple of cards could help punish players that have their hand constantly full, which can change up strategies for the better. It would be really interesting to see Hearthstone implement something like that in the upcoming 35 card mini-set with the Descent of Dragons adventure. It wouldn't have enough of an impact to be super meta-changing, but it at least makes people think and would be a cool tool in the overall arsenal.
I'll be honest, I don't ever check mobile stuff on Firefox since I assume it works much like the browser itself. Have you not updated your mobile Firefox in a while maybe?
A deploy is going out now that will enable ads on the site again.
These are all manually placed ads, nothing will be inside of comments. If you see ads, you'll see a unit in the header, the footer, and some sidebars. There will also be an ad above comment sections.
I'll continue to evaluate placement and such. No more should we have stuff showing up in bad places though, so that's great!
Sorry for the delay in responding here, the Christmas season has kept myself and others away for the most part.
I've gone ahead and disabled ads for now. We were using tech from Google called "auto ads" and we've reached the limit of how many areas of the site I'm able to blacklist and that didn't help ads not display in comments or inside of some posts. The way forward will be to manually add the ad units exactly where we do want them. It was an experiment and an easy way to get ads on the site which didn't really work out in the end.
I'm making it my target to get ads back on the site within 24 hours so we don't lose too much revenue. December is one of the best times of the year for ads since you can pretty easily earn double the income from them (yay higher advertiser budgets) so it would be a shame to miss out on it for too long.
Agreed, total weirdos! DARK MODE LIFE!

<3 Thanks for the support!
Thank you so much for your support over the years Wolfgang!
Definitely plan on doing more "insightful" stuff as time permits and there is interesting enough stuff to talk about, so I'm glad you like the format.

I can agree though, I haven't been too excited about Mage in a while even though it is my favourite class.

We have a thread open for this already, so this thread will be locked.

Bias is a funny thing.

Oh my. Well, that's a gaffe!
Made a correction in the article >.> thank you!
Happy New Year friends!
43 minutes to go here, looking forward to 2020!
Yeah, this year was insane for Hearthstone *stuff*. This took more hours than I'd like to admit to make happen thanks to how busy the year was :D
Word on the block is next year is going to be even more action-packed!
Check your spam folder! I had one show up there once, other than that, I've gotten them monthly.
Bookmark this instead for now.

Also, I really hope you're not including a Site News update for the holidays in that number.
