Happy New Year! Some items in this changelog have been previously deployed and were added just to keep you in the loop.
New Features
Added Discord integration
You can connect a Discord account to your Out of Cards account.
Currently, this is only used for giving our Premium members a special role on Discord.
We run checks every 10 minutes, so it may take a little bit of time before new premium members get their role.
New Ad Provider
We've changed ad providers, to NitroPay!
If you are in certain regions and are a non-premium user, you'll have some options.
European members will receive a GDPR prompt their first time visiting the site and any time they don't have the proper GDPR cookie set.
California members can click on a "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link in the footer and on our privacy policy.
Game Portals!
These are customizable homepages for an individual game. If you don't want to see anything from a particular game, you can visit them and bookmark them instead.
There is a known issue with forum threads showing up from all forums. We're not quite ready with that part yet ;)
If we're talking purely from a monetary point of view, Patreon is better because it is a reliable source of income and more likely to give the site more money on a per user basis. Ads have so much variability, it isn't easy to say if it would be more beneficial for us for any particular user to have them subscribe or just use the site the way they normally do with ads enabled, though it certainly could be possible.
After we're sustainable, the main question becomes how can we use extra revenue to grow even more. There are a lot of things that we could do for the card game community as a whole, and more dedicated people on the staff is always going to be a good goal to reach.
On a more charity note though, I always love the "random" charity events held in the gaming community throughout the year. I think it would be really cool to get some awesome people together to do something similar, using the platform for a good cause. Not something we can immediately jump into, but it has definitely crossed my mind.
I looked into this and have deployed a fix. There were a couple of oddities with some people not getting proper credit and it looks like this should be the last case covered. So sorry for the trouble!
If you end up stopping your support on Patreon in the future, please reach out and I'll credit your account with extra supporter time. The same goes for anyone else who has had issues and I can verify that it is the case.
We're going to be getting some nerfs soon to a bunch of stuff, including Deathrattle Rogue, so there's a decent chance mage can pickup some steam from that. We've also got 35 new cards coming out at some point in the near future which could open up a lot of new and exciting options.
You will never see anything that overlays the site or intentionally redirects you. If a bad advertisement that redirects does show up, we'll squash it as soon as we know about it.
December would have been the most interesting with the expansion launch, though it probably would have just heavily diluted the results, adding tons of junk data to the rank 25-16 area. November is likely a more accurate representation of the majority of the year since it wasn't a crazy hype area of the year. It would be interesting to see if December buffed up the low end back up to 75% of the player base, or even higher.
I recommend you bookmark this page if you only want to see Hearthstone stuff. It is accessible by the "HS" part of the navigation on the site, or if no game has been selected, using the game select dropdown and clicking on Hearthstone. That is our Hearthstone portal on the site. https://outof.cards/hearthstone/
Three months should always be remembered by Hearthstone players - the months expansions launch! Those are always April, August, and December. Every 4 months = an expansion.
I love the "lASOIA!@#!$FGDASGB!#&^SDG!)*$" aspect :D
Ehhh they weren't too bad. There have certainly been times in the part where hunter was crazy good to the point where it felt wrong, but the start of last year didn't feel like that, at least to me. Could be a case of Hunter being more overpowered before then so any big advantage they had early last year didn't seem to be a big deal.
I'd definitely like to see some more mill cards added to the game, but nothing to make it really shine as an archetype again.
A couple of cards could help punish players that have their hand constantly full, which can change up strategies for the better. It would be really interesting to see Hearthstone implement something like that in the upcoming 35 card mini-set with the Descent of Dragons adventure. It wouldn't have enough of an impact to be super meta-changing, but it at least makes people think and would be a cool tool in the overall arsenal.
I'll be honest, I don't ever check mobile stuff on Firefox since I assume it works much like the browser itself. Have you not updated your mobile Firefox in a while maybe?
The effect being changed is indeed a nerf so you'll be able to full dust refund.

You can use the "display" filter to change it to card images! UI for this could definitely be improved.
Thanks for disabling adblock and the kind comments <3

Emptyness, thanks so much for your support! I feel like a broken record every time I say it, but I really do mean it.
Everyone has been so awesome with the site and I can't wait to give everyone more fun stuff to play with.

If you can, I recommend sticking with Patreon!
Agreed, total weirdos! DARK MODE LIFE!

<3 Thanks for the support!
Thank you so much for your support over the years Wolfgang!
Definitely plan on doing more "insightful" stuff as time permits and there is interesting enough stuff to talk about, so I'm glad you like the format.

I can agree though, I haven't been too excited about Mage in a while even though it is my favourite class.

We have a thread open for this already, so this thread will be locked.

Bias is a funny thing.
