  • I've had 2 recent encounters with Secret Passage that I do not think are working as intended.

    1) Playing Rogue, I discovered Deck of Lunacy from a Wand Thief and played it, then later drew a 2-cost Blessing of Authority. After playing Secret Passage, I re-drew the Blessing and it cost 5. Cards you discount with Efficient Octo-bot keep their discounts after being shuffled around, but this one did not.

    2) My opponent (a Rogue) discovered Evocation, played it, then played Secret Passage. The unused "temporary" Mage spells were returned to his hand at the end of the turn, and never went away until cast. He played one of them the following turn, and another the turn after.

    Thoughts?

  • Well-done friend! That's a really sweet accomplishment that you can always look back on with pride!

Don't forget to make that new card back your favorite!

  • Could this possibly indicate Quillboars becoming a minion type in constructed as well? They don't seem to be the most likely candidate to be added, and you'd think they would have rolled it out with Barrens if they were going to.

  • Does anyone else feel like this round of achievements is, on average, a lot harder than last time? To be clear, I don't mind doing LENGTHY tasks like summoning 200 Greyboughs, and I don't consider that hard, just time-consuming. But this time, there are so many that require you to do a certain thing 5 times in a single turn, for example, or the one where you copy 5 secrets. Not only do you need to have the right combination of cards in hand, mana, etc., but most of the time, doing the thing you need to do for the achievement is NOT the optimal play. To pull some of these off, you need to build a deck specifically for that purpose, and play it over and over again INSTEAD of playing a deck you WANT to play, and actually trying to win. If they're going to throw all these hard-to-set-up tasks at us, they should let us complete them in Casual or Friendly matches. And of course, I wouldn't care if it was just for fun, but there are rewards that equal gold for these.

TLDR: A bunch of these achievements are too difficult to be fun, and can't be completed through normal play. Boo.

  • I was wondering that too!

  • I only played a handful of games post-nerf yesterday, but I did not face a single Mage or Paladin. I'd say (based on my admittedly small sample size) the nerfs succeeded.

    Similar stuff happened to me.

Played Illidari Studies twice and got 2 Kurtrus Ashfallen, they stay in hand at a 2 mana discount. Opponent plays Dirty Rat, 1 gets pulled, the other remains in hand for 4 mana.

I was achievement hunting, so I don't really care, but still, it's a bugged interaction.

I dont think that one is a bug, rather unfortunate scenario. The battlecry makes the opponent summon the minion, so as if they played it.

I respectfully disagree. If Dirty Rat summons a minion from your hand, it is not as if you played the minion yourself, so the discount (in this case from Illidari Studies) should remain for the other minion in hand. If you summon a minion using a spell (like Apexis Blast for example), it would not trigger a Mirror Entity or Snipe.

  • I have 3 mana, I play the Coin followed by Scabbs Cutterbutter and his combo is activated. I play Sparkjoy Cheat for free, which casts a secret from my hand, then all my other cards go back to their normal cost. The secret cast by the Sparkjoy counted as a discounted card from Scabbs and I was unable to play another card. That has to be a bug, right?

And fear not loyal readers, I still won the game!

  • Congrats, this deck IS fun! I'm 4-1 so far. Have pulled off some really insane shenanigans with Shadowjeweler Hanar, and in my last game, I was able to use both Shadowcaster and Potion of Illusion on Dragonqueen Alexstrasza for LOTS of free dragons. I'm so glad they unnerfed her!

  • I am a Premium member, but I was not Premium for maybe an hour or so in the middle of the day today. Seems like a temporary glitch.

  • I agree! As clearly powerful as Pen Flinger is when used by Rogues and Paladins, I hate his voice lines way more!

  • Yeah, Lunacy Mage is bonkers right now. I'm running into it about 50% of matches in Standard, and it's so good I started playing it myself!

    Turn 2: Deck of Lunacy

Turn 3/4: Arcane Intellect/Refreshing Spring Water

    Turn 5: you've already won

  • This card is getting out of hand very quickly. It used to be a total crapshoot, but now with the newly cultivated Core set, most of the "bad" spells have been removed so you are much more likely to get high-value stuff. I've been on the giving and receiving end of some seriously unfair swings. For one example, Turn 7 Nagrand Slam to clear my board, leaving all 4 Kodos alive, followed by Turn 8 Survival of the Fittest. I've had several opponents have the Deck in their opening hand, followed by Refreshing Spring Water (not that it matters, but why isn't that a Nature spell?) for some crazy early game nonsense.

  • I think "Do it for the Vines" is bugged. I've played 5 in a turn twice now, but it still reads 0/25. Yes, I am sure they were all Druid Nature spells. My only thought is that Lightning Bloom might not count since it's also a Shaman card (clearly this would be an unintended interaction).

  • Just rolled this guy up. Didn't they say they were removing it?

  • Nice one!

  • It's working now, I guess just bugs getting worked out.

  • Has anyone been able to actually play a game yet? I keep getting the message "Your deck is not valid". Yes, I checked, it's totally a standard deck.

  • Congrats winners! I hope you enjoy your PRIZES!!!

  • It's hard to come up with something original to say for 135 cards (some of which are always just "pack filler"), but it's clear that most of us have put in a good faith effort to do so. The issue is a few trolls who literally said "good card" over and over again. If they don't want to take the time to think about each card and say something worth saying, that's fine, but they shouldn't have the chance to win free packs for it.
