As many have pointed out, it's probably best with Restless Mummy but I'm most excited to try and stick this on 3 and curve into Doctor Krastinov with a weapon equipped. Maybe in a Galakrond deck with Ritual Chopper to really curve out.
Art wise I feel they missed an opportunity here. If this is a reimagining of how Scholomance was in the past, perhaps the Lab Partner art should have been more similar to Lab Recruiter, to represent this minion in his younger, college days.
I have no words for this monstrosity. Sure it does nothing, but it's 1 mana 1/4... in Priest! Where Inner Fire is still in Standard. I kind of want to put in a trash can, like how people used to do to real freshmen in high school.
High potential, not something I can really look at and think "Oh, this would be perfect in X". But I'm sure someone will find a broken deck to run this in.
At first I thought this would be a bad card, but I'm not so sure. I think it may depend on when the Spellburst effect occurs. If it happens after things like Brawl it could be a really nice effect to have a 5/5 taunt on board regardless of whether or not you won the brawl.
I was just thinking of this too. I think Spellburst effects happen after a spell, so Trimutius's thoughts about the interaction with Brawl should be correct.
At first I thought this was really good, but the inconsistency isn't great. In Standard this should be fine because Devolve is in Wild. But not sure this would see play in Wild because Devolve is in Wild. Most effective when you are playing a Priest with a single Infiltrator on board that has had Grave Runes cast on it.
Gandling made me rate this card 5 stars under threat of punishment if I didn't.
Anything to do with the new Soul Fragments mechanic gets 5 stars from me! Especially this easy to set up 5 mana 8/9.
A few interesting dual class cards that will interact in some way with weapons, so this could be good.

A nice "combo" of Rogue's ability to damage or kill undamaged minions, and a Warrior's ability to Execute damaged minions.
Would this go into a Big Priest deck in Wild? I mean it could, but... what would you cut from it? And why are you still playing Big Priest?!
Oh good! Enrage Warrior is staying in the meta.
Randomized Crystology (kind of)!
Interesting design. I think this is most likely a Quest Warlock tool to try and guarantee you get the most value from your new hero power.

Spellburst converting this weapon to Frostmourne for a turn. I approve!
Well deserved promotion!

New shaman weapon that gains 1 spell damage for that turn when you attack would go nicely with this minion.
Great card. Just fantastic! Getting extra copies of specific spells could make for potential combos or more burst damage to close out a game.

Mini Loatheb! Not bad, but increasing by 1 mana next turn isn't that great. Especially compared to Loatheb.
