Yes. Against Warlock. A deck notoriously terrible playing from behind.
This is supposed to help you offfset the loss of tempo from tapping but it just doesn't.
This is a legendary, needing more than one card to remove it should be the baseline, not the entire payoff. But hey, good luck playing Hearthstone like it's 2016. We no longer win by just playing slightly above average value, we need actual powerplays that put pressure on the opponent.
It's fine as a support for Handlock. Boring but doesn't seem weak. Well, at least there will be a lot of videos of people making the mistake of trying to Coin into this. Just like in the good old Mountain Giant days...
I understand that legendaries don't need to have flashy effects all the time (e.g. Aya Blackpaw, Infiltrator Lilian, and our lord and saviour Zilliax), but for a character as influential as Anetheron who led the Scourge in the Battle of Mount Hyjal, it's pretty underwhelming. The effect can potentially be very strong based on how quickly a Warlock can fill their hand, but it really feels like a Mountain Giant substitute for Standard.
My guess as to what happened during development was this was an epic or something, but they weren't able to balance it properly while allowing two copies of it to be run in a Warlock deck, so they made it legendary and slapped some canonically significant Nathrezim as a name.
And yes, Hearthstone doesn't have to be an accurate representation of WoW's universe (which is actually what makes the game's storytelling element more interesting in my opinion), but this card could literally have been any important bad guy. It completely fails to reflect his influence and his abilities in WoW.
Zilliax was flashy and amazing, Aya was a lot more interesting than this card and Lilian sees no play.
If this was a Rare or perhaps an Epic, it would be fine. But for a Legendary, that's pretty bland.
Should at least have Rush, or some other secondary ability, to be worthy of Legendary status.
I think is a fair card, but it today HS, fair dosnt make the cut. Not gonna craft, but if open ill try in no deck warlock.
I really don't understand the hate, must every legendary have a keyword soup to be considered interesting? This is a build-around card worthy of its rarity, watch the reveal video if you lack some deckbuilding inspiration.
its an effect we have seen before, inclduing, last set on a epic in the same class.
Costing less with a certain condition isnt unique to be a legendary,
and they dont need a keyword, they do something speciall/unique/intresting/not seen before.
Thisd an effect we have seen alot in the game.
I posted this meme on Dark Alley Pact, but it fits better on this card I think:
very bad card
That...sucks
so how fast can a warlock get to 10 cards ?
starting second, that's 6 cards (4 cards mulligan, 1 card drawn, the coin)
turn 2 draw 1 that's 7, hero power that's 8 cards
Turn 3, draw that's 9. If you use free admission that's 10, you can drop him on 3
but at 6 health he gets removed to the minions your opponent has been playing on curve...
I honestly don't see a place for this card. Realistically, this will come down on turn 4 or 5, and if you're lucky, it'll connect once with your opponent before being removed.
Overall, very weak for a legendary.
I would assume they printed it that way as to not make it an instant win but rather a payoff that allows you to keep tempo while tapping like a madman.
The problem is that there is no reason for it being that fair when so many other decks can snowball way harder for way less effort.
Couldn't they at least add Lifesteal so it has soft taunt?
I mean at 1 mana you can throw this guy down and then the shady bartender for a 10/8 beat stick
Or I could do something useful instead.
Guys this is not bad at all. Dark Alley Pact and this gives enough support for Handlock in Standard! Take a look at this deck I created:
https://outof.cards/hearthstone/decks/27816-theorycraft-chaoslock
Deck of Chaos could be replaced with The Dark Portal in case it doesn't works (and probably some minions would be changed). I think it's nuts. And I also love the art.
Damn, I'm usually pretty optimistic but this card is quite boring. Sure it might be moderately powerful, but I honestly think a character like Anetheron deserves better than that card text tbh. Also the orphan on the second line lowkey irritates me.
Really....this is what passes for a Legendary these days?
Come on, I just want Big Demon Warlock to be playable, how is this going to help? Couldn't they at least give it Rush? or Taunt? or Lifesteal?
No good. I don't really see how this is a legendary.
