INTRODUCTION
Welcome! I'm Esparanta, a passionate Wild player who loves to explore the limits of Highlander decks. Here, we will revisit Murloc Shaman but boy, do I have good news for you...
- Unite the Murlocs is back! I should have played with it during Sunken City expansion thanks to sweet inclusion of Murlocs to Shaman and Warlock.
- Has Prince Renathal in it! Not just 30 cards but 40 cards open up possible win-conditions besides Megafin. Rather than as Aggro deck, think of it as Control deck.
- As a Highlander deck, you can take advantage of Sir Finley of the Sands if you get it randomly.
GAMEPLAN
Forget about Everyfin is Awesome/Nofin Can Stop Us and listen up! Why go fast while you can gather all values...
- Magicfin will convert your fishes into legends.
- Start Underbelly Angler value train as early as turn 3.
- Although this is luck based, if goes well, you can play another Megafin if you play Diligent Notetaker first and Unite the Murlocs as next card. Feels amazing to play Megafin twice, I must tell you.
- Amalgam of the Deep/Primalfin Lookout/Fishflinger are here for extra fuel. Better ignite it with Brann Bronzebeard/Bolner Hammerbeak.
...by tutoring a hungry vampire king with the blood of fallen Murlocs. If all goes wrong, you can bite your opponent with Shudderwock.
(20 games with 65% win-rate. Taken during Castle Nathria expansion.)
(Victory against Deathrattle Priest. Taken during Castle Nathria expansion.)
(Amazingly lucky mulligan. Taken during Castle Nathria expansion.)
(Journey to another Megafin. Taken during Castle Nathria expansion.)
Here are some tips and tricks while playing this deck to guide it even better:
- Abuse Clownfish and Scargil like crazy since mana cheat allows you to execute threating combos for your opponent. You got Mutanus via RNG? Eat it on turn 5 thanks to Scargil. On turn 3, try an opening such as Clownfish>>Underbelly Angler>>Amalgam of the Deep. Your opponent can't catch you up that easily, I can assure.
- Brilliant Macaw can be interpreted as another Sire Denathrius or Shudderwock. When Sire is played, if you play Macaw after it, it will play upgraded version of Sire, not base variant.
CARD SUGGESTIONS
Before moving onto card alternatives, even though this deck seems to cost about 24k dust to craft, in reality, it's not. It's actually far more cheaper than 24k dust. Reason is that some of these legendary cards are free to everyone...
- Looking at Core 2022 cards, which is available to everyone for free, here are the legendary cards saving your pocket:
- Next, we have two free legendary cards from Castle Nathria expansion, which is available to everyone for free, again:
In total, you may keep your 11.2k dust somewhere safe in your wallet. What about 13k dust, you may ask? Well, before we get into that, here are your staple legendary cards:
Like it or not, these two are interconnected. Thus, they are irreplaceable. If you can't craft them, never go after this deck. As for other cards, here goes my feedback...
- Bolner Hammerbeak: He's Brann 2.0. Has potential with cards such as Primalfin Lookout for value or Clownfish for discount. Can be replaced with any card to be honest but if I were to pick one, I'd give Mutanus a try.
- Scargil: Mana cheater, literally. I can understand if you don't want to spend 1600 dust on Clownfish 2.0 but it will be extremely difficult to dump your Murlocs generated from Megafin, should it come to that point. Can be replaced with any card but if you want to be competitive, Theotar will serve you well.
- Zephrys the Great: Good Highlander card but if you are low on budget, any card can be used. Brrrloc can be a good pick to freeze the board, in addition to faster quest progress.
CONCLUSION
That's all for this deck. Let me know if you have any questions and I will be more than happy to answer them. Have fun in Wild format and be safe!
Update I: Updated for March of the Lich King expansion post-nerfs. (20 Dec 2022)

Hey Esparanta!
Thank you so much for this deck, I've been playing with it and it's been a blast.
The fact that there are no votes or comments here is a travesty, so I'm trying to fix that myself.
Ever since I started playing I've always thought Unite the Murlocs looked really cool, I just am not a fan of aggro at all.
But then I found this, and it's countrol-y value-y goodness! It's perfect.
The base list is already good, I just had a couple of changes I'd thought I'd share here.
Out: Dilligent Notetaker, Elementary Reaction, Spirit Echo, Canal Slogger, Spammy Arcanist, Emperor Thaurissan
In: Instructor Fireheart, Gorloc Ravager, Bru'kan of the Elements, Ice Fishing, Slitfin Spiritwalker, Firemancer Flurgl
I will concede that Slitfin Spiritwalker is a bit overkill (and probably not very good), I just think it's neat. I think that Ice Fishing fits in than Elementary Reaction, but it is less cool.
Gorloc Ravager should definetly be in here, it makes Scargill + Clownfish that much better. Bru'kan is definetly good for the grindier control centric games, it has cheated me out some wins in the past.
Anyways, thank you for the decklist!
I'm very glad it worked out well for you, EthanPaultio. Sorry that I've just seen your comment but hey, better late than never I guess 😅 It looks like notifications button was bugged for some reason.
Anyways, I've updated this deck with recent expansion in mind. Feel free to have a look and have a nice day/night.
