We've got a brand new event in Hearthstone's Mercenaries game mode and it's here only for a limited-time! This time, we'll venture into many dangerous Bounty zones with the aid of Y'Shaarj, the strongest Old God (as well as the first to die in World of Warcraft), which already made its appearance in Hearthstone in Whispers of the Old Gods with Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound.
Our journey won't be in search of just fame and success, but you'll be able to complete a set of 10 event Tasks, which will reward you coins for Y'shaarj and many other goodies.

As you can see, these tasks are quite the mixed bag: while some are fairly simple to complete, others require more than a bit of thinking (and luck: that one's always welcome) and planning ahead.
Moreover, certain tasks clearly state that you need Comps consisting of Mercenaries belonging to specific races in order for your progresses to count: while the N'Zoth event was about Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and Murlocs, this time you'll need the help of Humans and Pirates!
Not all challenges might be as difficult as they seem at a glance: there are usually tips and tricks to be found to make everyone's lives easier. In this series of guides we'll take a look at how to complete each event Task, so that you'll be able to get your hands on all the rewards available. As of now, we'll focus our attention on the current task.
In case you missed them, if you click the banner below you'll have access to each of our task guides for this event.

How to Complete the "Tag Team" Task from the Y'Shaarj Event
- Requirement: Deal at least 150 damage in a single turn using Y'Shaarj's Defiled Attack.
- Game Mode: Normal
- Rewards: Diamond Y'Shaarj portrait.
- Difficulty: 1/5
The Y'Shaarj Mercenaries event ends with a rather easy task: use Y'Shaarj's first ability Defiled Attack 1 to deal 150 damage in a single turn. Doesn't matter the mode, doesn't matter the opponent, doesn't even matter how long it takes to set up, as long as you deal the whole 150 damage in a single turn.
Disclaimer: one thing that Visions of Conquest does not specify is that overkill damage won't count towards the task's completion. What we mean is that if you ram a 150 Attack Y'Shaarj into a 10 Health unit, only 10 of that damage will count towards your goal. Therefore, we need the opposing side of the board to have 150 Health for us to take down with Y'Shaarj in a single turn. While it may be a bug, we need to keep this in mind for the meantime.
Out of Cards Recommendation - Old Guardian's Anacondra Comp
Just like for Rage Unfound, Lady Anacondra is the way to go and Old Guardian will explain us why.
Here are a few tips for those unfamiliar with this strategy.
- Start any bounty you want and queue the first fight.
- Set up the opposing side of the board so that the only unit will be a Cookie, the Cook's fish.
- Use Lady Anacondra's Mend Beast 1 ability to give the opposing fish more Health.
- Make sure to not buff the same fish too much, as otherwise Y'Shaarj may not be able to kill it.
- Spread the buffs evenly among the fish!
- Fill your side of the board with Vipers and give them more stats with Mend Beast 1.
- Use Cookie's Go Fish! 1 to summon even more fish to buff with Anacondra.
- However, if you summoned a Swordfish you'll have to immediately take it down with Fish Feast 1.
- Repeat the process until your opponent has at least 150 Health worth of units (no Swordfish!) and you have 3 large Vipers.
- Cast Defiled Attack 1.
- Enjoy your Diamond Y'Shaarj!
Out of Cards Community Suggestion - Pezman's Murky Comp
Our community is very active on our forums, so Pezman took the time to create a party with our party builder and suggested us an alternative way to complete Visions of Conquest.
In case you want to know how this comp works, make sure to keep reading, as Pezman explained the whole strategy.
Quote From Pezman Task 10 for the Y'Shaarj special event is a piece of cake!
The trick here is to bring along as many minions as you can so Y'Shaarj can borrow lots of attack. Your damage output will vary depending on how leveled up and upgraded your Mercs are. However, head into an easy bounty (I used 1:1) and he'll clean up in one shot. I got lucky too, as the first encounter was 2 fighters, so I did almost 300 damage in one attack.
Have fun!
Other Resources
Our clever community members set up a forum thread to share your Mercenaries progression journey, and we have added an #mercenaries channel on our Discord server if you want to talk with others in real-time. If you need an assist, you can also respond to this guide and we'll do our best to help you out; the comments are also a great way to share your own comps that you've used to complete the task above.
Good luck taking on any of these Bounties for those sweet sweet coins or just for the sake of satisfying completion!

How is Mercenaries going?
I played it for ~7 days after launch and was bored to death. To much grind, to simple game mechanics... no fun at all.
There are a lot of new and interesting gamemechanics in the game with the mercs they added. In fact, coming up with creative comps to use these mechanics is my favorite thing in mercs now. Even though most of them aren't better than meta decks, just trying to make them work consistently is super fun for me.
I thought the same after release and didn't play it. After a while I tried it again and it is my main mode now. What I like is that I can set my own goals and it is rewarding to achieve them. And I can take my time and own pace. Standard HS only made me salty.
I play 2 hours a day and did spent less than 20 bucks on it and have a full collection by just doing the tasks. Trying to find an effective way to do the tasks and to do multilpe tasks at once is also something I enjoy in Mercenaries.
Overall, I enjoy it very much. They have made some major QoL improvements in terms of task availability and completion. It's still pretty grindy, and duplicate protection is still absent.
It has to be 200 damage.
