New Priest Spell - Desperate Prayer

Ah ha ha  ha   haa   .   .   .   Radiance.

New zero mana spell for priest that wants to do some weird Nazmani Bloodweaver shenanigans, yay...

Just as reminder, they are ways to change healing into damage.

I like that its a 0 mana spell. And that's all I will like about it until I start seeing Auchenai Soulpriest back in standard. But because its a 0 mana spell I'm almost certain team5 would never bring it back, so this is just a glorified radiance that also makes it harder for priest to close games with. In other words, no way to deal damage, no way it sees legit entry into decks.

Interesting card, and synergises well with Nazmani Bloodweaver for mana cheating and IF Gadgetzan Auctioneer is still in the core set Desperate Prayer might make that mana cheat C'Thun, the Shattered deck viable. (Lets hope not, it feels really bad to play against.) I hope that it doesn't synergise with Auchenai Soulpriest and stuff, because that would be a lame way to re-introduce shadow priest.

Standard: Depending on if Gadgetzan Auctioneer is in the core set, it will be in mana cheat C'Thun, the Shattered priest. Or otherwise it will be in some different mana cheat priest deck with Nazmani Bloodweaver.

Wild: If Gadgetzan Auctioneer isn't in core, but in the legacy set. Then that deck will be played by a few people in wild. Majority probably keeps playing Raza Priest though... :P

This will look really stupid if they decide to not include Auctioneer in the core set.

Either way, the trend of no context 0-mana Priest spells continues. Maybe in 3 years we'll get a payoff

Nice simple spell. Priest can usually generate a lot of spells and this one is just a free reroll usually with things like Lyra. 

0 mana spells are good cards by itself, and if the spell is for a class that have Nazmani Bloodweaver... Just really good.

Can't really complain about a 0-mana spell. And this is a class that can generate tons of value by casting spells repeatedly.

This needs spell cycling shenanigans or less its just really weak. I suppose if they entirely flipped their views on direct damage it might work with a heal to damage conversion effect but I doubt that will be happening.

The best part about this card is the cost.  If you are truly desperate then the 5 hp to your opponent wouldn't matter much, but if you are that desperate is this spell really going to save you?  Maybe if it's just used as a combo piece, or rather a cost reduction tool with the Nazmani minion.

Auchenai Soulpriest is the first thing that comes to mind.  Other than that, maybe it could be useful in a control deck to stay in the game a little longer, but it seems like there are better options in that regard.

Its like the least revealing revealed card ; we still have no idea what priest will look like, as this is pretty generic ...

I think it will be only relevant with shenanigans. I don't see it being super in the meta in standard IMO.

0 mana spells almost always see play, so I wouldn't completely count this out, but as of right now I don't see this making the cut in most decks.

Nice and cheap and there will be some use of it.

Regenerate didn't see a lot of play. There was some Nomi shenanigans decks that used it, but it wasn't a staple and that deck didn't live past Rise of Shadows.

This is better than Regenerate against an aggro deck though, so maybe there's some hope.

I foresee combo's with this healing spell

Zero mana spells almost always see some play. If not for that, this would be a worse Armor Vendor.

Atleast it's not as over powered as everyone's favourite 0 mana spell from scholomance.

I don't really get this card, but maybe I just have to pray a little harder.

I would rate it 1 star if it weren't for two scenarios: shadow Priest using it as damage instead, and spell discounts shenanigans trigger... it's going to be a disruptive combo card, maybe not in Standard tho.

I only see this being played if you can somehow change the healing to damage.

Vs aggro it is great.In the past we have zombie chow but it had a boy and it healed the opponet .This is maybe with soulpriest  ,maybe combo priest in the future?

You play this, Nazmani Bloodweaver, and Gadgetzan Auctioneer, with a couple of other cards like Sethekk Veilweaver, maybe Rally!, cycle through your entire deck, and then...!

Desperate Prayer is probably bad, but a zero cost spells have utility with Gadgetzan Auctioneer, and a free heal effect could have value with any Holy spell synergy or a "whenever/after a character is healed" type cards

First I though I would hate this in wild, now I think it more as a value generator. 

Back to hating it if the Auchenai's on board.

Now that the Core set has been revealed, this might be a replacement Circle of Healing used in combination with Crimson Clergy.

0-cost spells and minions always seem to hide something up their sleeves. I'm tempted to compare this to Armor Vendor or Radiance but with one you get an early game 1/3 and the other is.... well, Radiance is a card in Hearthstone, for sure.

That said, I can see this being used in the early game if an aggro deck is getting well ahead on damage and you need a quick, cheap way to stabilise without affecting your curve. On top of that, it could function well with some of the spell synergy cards like Nazmani Bloodweaver.

0 mana spell is always good imo, but if someone plays it, most of the time it would be from discover as a free activator for other cards. Could be used as healing if you´re behind on health, or damage if you´re ahead of your opponent.

Useless filler or important combo piece? Who knows, but there are some spell-slinging synergies in Priest to be explored.

Great aggro counter. Plus they seems to give a lot of holy synergies i cant wait to see other priest and paladin cards. I mind if priest and paladin will share some mechanics

Bad card, not worth a slot in your deck for the effect. However, it can be nice off random generation and I can see it being played in some kind of Miracle/Gadgetzan Auctioneer/Nazmani Bloodweaver Priest.

A minion-based Priest deck with this and Spirit Healer? Maybe it doesn't require that many minions.

Not that exciting, but 0-cost cards usually provide good tempo.

Nice as a generated card for control priest, but unlikely to be included in my decklists unless it helps enable other shenanigans...    

Really glad this exists, there are so many situations you are just looking to heal yourself in priest when discovering spells and this just adds more to the pool.

Seems meh but 0 mana cards can be dangerous.

Never been a fan of Miracle Priest, but it's still a good activator for Spellburst, Devout Pupil, Brittlebone Destroyer, Nazmani Bloodweaver, etc.

(And yes, we're going to start seeing a lot more Devout Pupil in Priest, for sure.)

From the looks of these cards, I'm wondering if a cheap cycle priest may become a thing. 

Wouldn't put it in my deck but fine if generated.

I have mixed feelings about this card, on the one hand, it won't be the worst randomly generated spell card vs aggro, and the symmetric effect leads me to believe that if it can be converted to damage, might be interesting (especially with the 0 cost), but I'm leaving it as a 3 star card, because I see potential, it just needs more support from the shadow end.

Radiance = bad, radiance for 0 on both heroes = bad.

Not sure this card will be included in any deck, but it might be a great discover when facing aggro, or even when randomly generated as it is a 0 mana spell for some auctioneer or whatnot actions (though Blizzard seems to be moving Priest away from their infinite card generation days...).

Looks like a desperate arena pick, at best.

Boy, am I glad Gadgetzan Auctioneer is out. 

On a more serious note, if this card is generated by a pure control Priest, they'll most likely be happy. Control priests don't go face, they win through value, so the mirror effect will most likely not be a factor whatsoever in that scenario.

I feel Renew is still better as discovering a spell on top of a heal is very good even if that card does heal you for less.

0 cost spell, its insane with Gadgetzan Auctioneer or Nazmani Bloodweaver , its miracle c'thun priest time to shine!

Well it is a 0 mana spell with potential for "when you cast a spell effects" to trigger... And I suppose against an aggressive deck it's effective gain 5 health for 0 mana - but ultimately seems too minor an effect even for free

In standard, I don't know, seems redundant. I don't play Priest almost at all, though But in Wild it can ressurect good old Auchenai decks, might give it a shot.

In shadow form, to make damage could help. For healing not really, unless you discover it when you need.

Circle of Healing died so we can have this. Yay. Seriously, this only seems useful as a surprise lethal in an Auchenai Soulpriest world or in a spell synergy deck, so weirdly this might be a tiny bit better in Wild than Standard, but pretty unimpressive overall. And useless in Arena.

Rating this card highly because if it's run, it will be integral to the deck it's in. A new cheap spell for Miracle Priest potential is spicy and a tool to stem aggro is always welcome. Maybe Brittlebone Destroyer and Flesh Giant start seeing play in Priest?

I'm not creative enough to think of a (Standard) use for this except against Aggro. Thankfully, there are many more talented deckbuilders than me.

it's a zero mana heal 5. Preist has that one minion that discounts cost in hand for spells played, plus Gadgetzan Auctioneer will be in the core. 

Miracle C'thun Priest isn't losing any key cards in rotation, so this will probably find a home there. 

I don't think you'll run it, but you'll randomly generate it enough that this is a relevant card

Not yet but it has potential in the future. Any 0 cost card does.

Nice simple card, use it when you're behind, use to lower the cost of your hand, use for anything that cares about casting a lot of spells, and if that "healing into damage" thing comes back, then you can try to finish with it when you're ahead. All good!

It serves a purpose similar to that of Armor Vendor, which has been seeing a lot of play in control decks, but being a 0-cost spell makes it a lot more useful to a Priest.

I don't think a one mana discount on what is effectively a Radiance effect will warrant running Desperate Prayer as it is still too low impact on its own. Thst being said, Gadgetzan Auctioneer is sticking around in the core set, so maybe there is a miracle combo deck that wants to run 0-mana spells and Auctioneer like with the fringe Chef Nomi deck.

Could be good discovered by renew or palm reading. 

It' a 0 mana...and that is the only strong part of this card. If Priest can use it in some combo or shenanigans it will see play...otherwise filler card

Zero mana stuff can be very interesting. Do we make a shadow priest push or do we make a control priest push? Does it work for both? One can only hope.

Does not seem too strong, but one should never underestimate zero mana spells. Could easily see this in a Combo deck.

At first I though the Auchenai synergy was meh, but now I think it might just work.

You've got Desperate Prayer and Flash Heal, Radiant Elemental, Embrace the Shadow. Add in Prophet Velen, the recent Palm Reading and Insight, some Renews and AoE,  and of course Gadgetzan Auctioneer as well as Shadow Visions and Thrive in the Shadows for tutoring. The deck is building itself practically.

Aggro players hate this card. This apparently will have good synergies in the new set and with some priest/warlock dual class cards

Now that we've seen more cards, I think this is a fine activator for the "If you've Healed this turn" effects, especially Xyrella. Also works as a Nazmani Bloodweaver activator.

Xyrella is definitely the card to play this with but still if that is the only payoff card, I doubt it will be reliable enough of a combo.

0-mana spells are always good for combo potential. This can even be a finisher if you change healing to damage. I just cant get the Radiance comparison out of my mind though.
