Achievement Hunting: United in Stormwind edition

TIME-SENSITIVE ALERT: If you didn't get Varian Wrynn, you can take advantage of the current full refund period to craft him, get the achievement, and DE him at no cost. Act now!

I'm making this thread a liiiiiittle early because I want to help people take advantage of what may well be a time-limited opportunity: completing the Rogue and Priest questline-related achievements without owning the required cards. The only alternate way to complete these achievements is to steal the questline rewards from an opposing player, and the Day 1 meta presents a great opportunity for this, as people will be playing unoptimized meme decks and trying out their fancy new cards. It could happen that these questline decks are unviable and almost impossible to find on ladder afterwards, and this is pretty hard to pull off. There are other questline-related achievements, but these two are the only ones that require a one-time event and are therefore viable for these purposes. So how is this done?

Instant Gratification: Draw the Purified Shard the same turn you shuffle it into your deck.

The simplest way to do this is by waiting until they play the questline reward, then on your turn playing Mindrender Illucia + Lorekeeper Polkelt + Prize Vendor or any 'draw a card' effect like a Loot Hoarder or Bloodmage Thalnos deathrattle. Note that tutor effects of any kind ignore deck order, although they do not change Polkelt's ordering of the deck. This will of course only work if your opponent doesn't draw the shard the same turn they play their questline reward. Example deck: AAECAa0GBPvRA/bWA6iKBJegBA3LzQP73wOS5AOhoASY6gP44wPBnwSFnwS24QPXzgOZ6wPo7wPWoAQA

Okay, but what if I don't own Mindrender Illucia? I don't have her either, unfortunately. It's still possible, although it gets a lot messier, with Rogue. The main thrust of the combo will always be Faceless Manipulator + Shadowstep + play questline reward for 3 mana. From there, you need to have played Potion of Illusion on either a Lorekeeper Polkelt or a Primordial Protector so that you can play it for 1 mana here. The nice thing is that both of these cards help you draw the Potion of Illusion from your deck. If you went the Polkelt route, you also need a draw effect that same turn, which can be set up in advance by Silverleaf Poison but can be included in that same turn via discount or coin generation effects with Prize Vendor. Also, if you're lucky, you can steal the reward through Plagiarize. Example deck: AAECAYO6AgTl0QP21gOoigTl0QMN5dMDkuQDmOoDqesDq+sD3uwD9p8E958EoaAErKAE6/YDtuEDitADAA==

Expecting an Exploding Pen?: Play every Spy Gizmo in one game.

This is also done with Rogue. The good thing is you don't need to force the shard draw like in the Priest achievement, but you do need to play 5 1-mana cards, and ideally speaking you want to do this the very same turn you steal the reward, to ensure consistency. The same Faceless Manipulator + Shadowstep + play questline reward for 3 mana base combo remains, however to play all 5 Spy Gizmos you need 13 mana in one turn. Options include: Backstabing an Efficient Octo-bot, aka the dream scenario. Generating enough coins through Loan Shark and Tomb Pillager. Discounting the spell-based Spy Gizmos with Preparation. Having the reward through Plagiarize so you don't need extra mana in the first place. Generally speaking, some combination of these options should get you through. You should note though, that you need the hand space when you play the questline reward. And also that the opponent is likely to play the stealth-giving Spy Gizmo on their questline reward the turn they play it, so you should plan to weather that 9/7. Example deck: AAECAYO6AgKoigSXoAQOzrkDx84D5dMD590DkuQDmOoDq+sDkZ8E9p8E958EoaAErKAE6qAE6/YDAA==

How Many Arrows Do You Have?! - Deal 12 damage with your Hero Power in one turn as Hunter.

Can easily be completed without any Stormwind cards in Wild already. Use an Odd deck or Justicar Trueheart to upgrade the hero power, play Tour Guide or Fencing Coach the turn before the combo to make the Hero Power cost 0 and then either

If you upgraded the Hero Power with Justicar, Garrison Commander can also be used instead of Pixie.

The Adorable Aspect -  Play a 0-Mana Legendary Dragon.

I did it in wild using a Warlock deck with lots of draw, Plot Twist, Lady Prestor and few 0 cost minions (four in my case).

Play Lady Prestor, she turns your 0 cost minions (and all others as well) into random dragons and you need to hope one of them will be legendary.

Got this one on my first try with 0 mana 1/1 Nozdormu

The Brave and the Bolner - Trigger Battlecries with Bolner 25/50/100 times.

Instantly complete ALL 3 tiers of this XP achievement with Bolner Hammerbeak combined with Kazakus, Golem Shaper. It is probably not intended to work this way, so this will probably be patched in the near future.

As for complementary card suggestions, just add 2 Lightning Blooms and fill up the rest of your deck with draw cards.

    Enjoy!

Just curious. How does this work? You mean the second you did this once the achievement just sprung?

Yes, it immediately triggered the XP achievement and at the end of the match you get to see the reminder notification.

Here's a way to grind out many of the Neutral achievements while providing a way to cheat out the Adorable Aspect as well. Explanations of grinded achievements in the deck page.

Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
    Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906

Very nice even tough it is not easy right now because standard ladder is pretty fast  :) - will still try to achieve this before they patch it.

You can actually quantify how bugged The Brave and the Bolner achievement really is by revisiting it after completion:

This would paint a picture of a seriously aggressive grind if not for the serendipitous bug 🤣

This is maybe pretty obvious, but a decent way to get Join the Dark Side if you don't have Darkbishop Benedictus is to play Duels with the Mind Tether hero power. Obviously you can also just play Shadowform in a typical Priest deck, but that's much slower since you have to draw the spell before you can make progress.

Yep, can confirm that too - just did the Achievement with Bolner into Kazakus and after Checking the Log , mine says: 523565/100 - hopefully once they patch it we will still have the achievement

Another bug - Not the face! achievment Antonidas to hit the face with three fireballs and killing the hero actually works if Antonidas just hits with 3 fireballs, so Brann + Antonidas and there is a high chance you will have it

Confirmed, I completed the Not the face! achievement a few days ago without killing my opponent and totally forgot to report back about this bug.

    Kudos, Alfi!

I did the Not the Face! achievement. I found it impossible to do in wild after many many games. I did it in standard since it was a slower meta.

The Nobody Makes Me Bleed My Own Blood Rogue achievement is particularly easy in Wild with Augmented Elekk. I ran a deck that used Augmented Elekk and Garrote to get lots of Bleeds, Grand Empress Shek'zara and Stowaway for tutoring, and Spellzerker, Efficient Octo-bot and a bunch of small damage spells like Shiv and Backstab to speed things along. Everything else is just whatever you want to draw/cycle your deck.

One of the best things about this achievement is that while some methods of killing an opponent end the game the moment they drop to 0 or less HP, the "cast when drawn" triggers keep going until your hand fills or you run out of cards to draw, making it very easy to rack up damage for this achievement.

On a related note, Augmented Elekk interacts with Tradeable as you'd expect (i.e. shuffles a second copy into the deck). I've been trying it out to power through the Spam Caller achievement for Demon Hunter, but so far the pace of the Wild meta has made that a bit challenging.

Just wrapped up the Demon Hunter achievements with this deck:

There's a guide that basically goes through it on the deck, but the basic idea is that you shuffle a ton of Persistent Peddlers into your deck, and eventually they end up costing 0. Despite costing 0, drawing them after completing the questline still counts as a 2-mana discount for the sake of completing achievements.

The wild meta means you won't always have a productive match up for this deck, but when you do you can really grind through every achievement quickly. Also, this deck (obviously) loses a lot of games, so be sure to be at a ranked floor.

Regarding Caligraphy Lessons in Mage, it looks like each proc counts as 5 mana even when it hits a spell that costs less than 5, meaning you really just need to trigger Celestial Ink Set 15/30/60 times to complete the achievement.

The best approach here is probably to just run 2x Celestial Ink Set, 2x Hoard Pillager, and 2x Rummaging Kobold along with a ton of spells in Wild to have a max of 12 procs per game.

Thanks , was looking for an idea about the Peddlers :)

I did the Lion Frenzy Achievement "Drawing Frenzy" pretty easy in Wild - just build a deck with Lions Frenzy and Attack buff cards + draw. You also realy don't need Inner Demon (+8 Attack Card) - some Furys and other Attack Buffs + draw should get you an pretty easy 10+ Attack Lions Frenzy.

The pop divine shield achievement seems to trigger when you draw or have a divine shield minion in hand rather than how it should work, which is played on board and having its divine shield popped. Anyone can confirm this?

If that's the case, its as easy as playing rogue or some high draw class and filling the entire deck with divine shield minion.

I was counting down my last bit of progress on that one, and it definitely happened when the divine shield was lost, not just drawn. To be honest, that achievement completes itself by accident over time so if you really want to save time with it, just forget you need to work on it at all.

The alternative is just to make a paladin deck entirely out of divine shield minions. You'll probably have a pretty solid win rate with it (I always do) because no deck out there is actually built to deal with every minion being that obnoxious.

A tip for Instant Gratification: Draw the Purified Shard the same turn you shuffle it into your deck...

Use the same setup, complete the quest then next turn play xyrella, polkeit, and then instead of of the other suggestions it's pretty easy to coin and use any tradeable card.  Including Mailbox Dancer  in your deck to help hit the quest and the general achievement can guarantee a coin in hand for each game

Example deck: AAECAa0GBPvRA/bWA6iKBJegBA3LzQP73wOS5AOhoASY6gP44wPBnwSFnwS24QPXzgOZ6wPo7wPWoAQA

isn't this part wrong ?  if you cast Illucia you have enemy cards .

yes , they play questline reward and dont draw shard same turn , i then use Illucia , i got enemy deck and cards ,( Polket , Vendor , LH , Thalnos ) are now on enemy hand and i cant use them.

Yeah i can find those cards in opponend deck if im very luck , but that not explains why i put this cards on my deck recipe if i have to find them on the enemy hand.

This combo can work only with King Togwaggle not with Mindrender Illucia

Can someone try to explain the process of completing “instant gratification” using mindrender illucia?

She gives you a copy of your opponents hand until the end of turn, right?

Assuming they’ve already played Xyrella, how are you supposed to obtain her or her “purified shard” via playing illucia? why is it necessary to wait until they’ve already played Xyrella? Wouldn’t she be easier to obtain if you played illucia while she was still in their hand?

Assuming they haven’t already played her, and she’s sitting in their hand, you COULD obtain her using illucia. But because your hand is a copy of their hand ONLY until the end of turn, and assuming they don’t also have the lorekeeper or any card draw minions in their hand, you’d then have to play your Xyrella while you still have a copy of their hand and be forced to end your turn with no polkelt or card draw available. You’d therefore be unable to draw the purified shard on the same turn it’s shuffled into your deck, right?

Am I missing something spectacularly obvious here? because I don’t seem to be able to see how it would work using this process.

This was written back before Illusia nerf when she used to switch the hand and deck for one turn

Text changed to "Battlecry: Replace your hand with a copy of your opponent's until end of turn." (Was "Battlecry: Swap hands and decks with your opponent until your next turn.")
