maybe i wiill have one or two hours of non-streamers decks. If so, i will try this one:
Running Magtheridon with Pit Commander and/or Fel Summoner is pretty risky: if you pull him from somewhere and place him on the battlefield without playing the card, he will remain dormant forever (because you didn't trigger the Battlecry).
Before each expansion, I like to try and theorycraft a deck (that I'm at least a little bit excited for) for each class and share them on the forums. So I'll make this a really long post and just join in this thread instead of making my own.
First up, Demon Hunter!
I decided to fully embrace the Outcast mechanic, and make my deck so cheap that I could almost always get Outcast cards to activate their secondary text. I think DH may just have the aggressive oomph to bring back ye olde style "turn 4" decks.
The latest version of this deck even includes a Wisp. And I'm considering dropping Acidic Swamp Ooze for a second Wisp! But Ooze seems like an ok counter to the Demon Hunter/Rogue meta we'll surely be seeing.
I focused in on Fungal Fortunes and Imprisoned Satyr, wanting to build a deck with minimal minions and make the minions that I do hit with Imprisoned Satyr really impactful. So, that meant bringing back the Malygos Miracle archetype.
How good is Fresh Scent? I haven't played with it at all since it came out, so this is a non-rhetorical question.
Guardian Augmerchant just seems ridiculous to me, so you'll probably be seeing it in a number of my decks. Any deck where I expect to do a fair amount of trading and the decklist wasn't super crowded.
Mage is certainly tough to work with this expansion. But the new cards might finally push Secrets Mage into viability in Standard. Probably not, but I'll present my deck here anyway. At least it's budget-friendly, with no legendaries and few epics.
I have two ideas for Priest, neither that original. Both kind of boring because they aren't that dependent on AoO cards. One just embraces the new identity of Priest as the midrange minion-trading champion class, and suffers for a lack of win conditions. Here's the other: Galakrond Dragon Priest.
Rogue, on the other hand, is probably the class I'm most excited about. And my favorite Rogue deck I've come up with is one that makes the very painful choice to skip the Galakrond and Secrets packages and just focus on killing the enemy very quickly with Stealth synergy. I've tried building Stealth themed decks in the past, but this is the first time they've gotten real support!
For Shaman (my traditional favorite class), this expansion definitely isn't going to be the highlight of its career. But I will try to continue my love of Dragon Quest Shaman.
With my old deck's win condition rotated out, I think I'm going to have to put a Galakrond package in as a win condition. But I didn't have room for a full Galakrond package ... do you think that's ok? It only takes one doubled Corrupt Elementalist to fully upgrade 'Krond.
I still want to make Dragon Handlock a thing, even without Mountain Giant. This decklist really came together, after a number of attempts, when I decided to embrace cutting Plague of Flames.
Dropping something for Valdris Felgorge would obviously be more optimal, but I don't want to spend dust on Valdris, so I'm leaving him out for now ...
Going with Trump's theory that Shadow Council isn't a meme card, but rather a way to turn tech cards (primarily Sacrificial Pact) into useful fuel.
Confession: I actually kind of like Galakrond Warrior. So I just went with that for my deck here, with only a few new cards that aren't that revolutionary. Warrior's getting decent cards, but I don't think they'll spawn any exciting new archetypes; just enhance archetypes that warrior is already playing.
You can play against the Demon Hunter AI in practice.
Best way to describe it: runs out of cards fast, can pack the board like warlock while going face with weapons like warrior AI.
Relentless in trying to bring your health down like Hunter AI, but good taunts and board clears can pretty much make it easier than any of those AI matches.
Also, don't play Rogue with card copying/stealing strategies; you won't get any cards. Blizz really doesn't want you to play those cards right now. Don't know if Priest or other stealing mechanics work.
i think it is more rewarding because you fell you climbed a lot, but the thing i loved the most is that after the 5 wins you can already use the cardback from that season
Hand is gonna get too many spells, and you gonna have to discard cards. You usually can not cast a lot of the spells In one turn, and not anything else from your hand. Though I would want this in a Yogg paladin deck. This card is just average
Note/correction to Nagrand Slam: the summoned minions don't attack enemy minions, but enemies - including face!
I can very much see this as a finisher in a Kael'Thas deck.
This... And empty board vs a hunter with 10 Mana = 12 damage to face... Bigger than Pyroblast, and similar finishing power to the old Druid Combo (FoN/Sr)
The new set is all about giant monsters that mutate and do cool stuff and so WotC is doing a special promo thing where special packs can have a Kaiju art. Some of the art is really cool and as someone who loves Godzilla and almost everything he stands for, I love it to death. I'd recommend checking out some of the art, its all really nice and if you aren't familiar with all 300 trillion different Kaijus, you might get a laugh at how dumb some of them are.
The best secret of the bunch. VAlue trade a minion, watch it get unanswered because there is a "?" over your head. Value trade it again and watch your opponent crumble. And yet, as a standalone card, it's strong but balanced. It's Blackjack Stunner that makes the tempo swings go out of control.
This on 2. It survives, because it has 5 Health. Play a Secret on 3, have a leftover mana and play a Paladin Secret with it. Yes, the Paladin Secret will probably suck, but such powerful snowball value generation makes this card so good. And yet, it's not the most powerful card in Secret Rogue.
Dimir is definitely a color pairing I need to play more of. The only times I've really dived into playing with it is in Mill decks and this one, but it definitely right up my alley in terms of what it does. Hopefully Ikoria can bring some cool new UB tools and cards so I can revisit the color pairing soon.
Glad you still enjoy the articles despite not playing a whole lot Arena! One of my big 'long term' goals is to eventually start doing Commander deck techs as well as Brawl ones as the larger card pool means there is a lot more 'fun' stuff you can do but for the foreseeable future that's most likely not going to happen. That being said, I still love writing about Brawl and so far with the stuff coming with Ikoria, it looks like there is going to be a lot of fun new decks I can tinker around with.
What decks are you planning to play when the expansion launches?

Druid

Crystalsong Portal, Dreamway Guardians, and Rising Winds are all decent ways to get early game board presence without having minion cards in the deck. A number of the other cards—Secure the Deck x2, Ironbark, Bogbeam x2—are kinda subpar on their own, but make excellent Gadgetzan Auctioneer fuel.

Hunter
I see a lot of deathrattle potential in this expansion. Pack Tactics, Mok'Nathal Lion, Teron Gorefiend. So I started putting in ok deathrattle minions, and soon realized that I had an aggro Beast build without even trying. So I added a few classic aggro/beast cards, like Kill Commands and one Unleash the Hounds/Timber Wolf pair.
How good is Fresh Scent? I haven't played with it at all since it came out, so this is a non-rhetorical question.

Paladin
I'm a believer in the popular notion of Libram Pure Paladin. That's 14 cards of the deck chosen in two neat packages.
Pure Paladin has a scarcity of 1-drop options and an abundance of 2-drop options. Here's my attempt to limit the number of 2-mana cards anyway.

I have two ideas for Priest, neither that original. Both kind of boring because they aren't that dependent on AoO cards. One just embraces the new identity of Priest as the midrange minion-trading champion class, and suffers for a lack of win conditions. Here's the other: Galakrond Dragon Priest.

Decklist seems pretty self-explanatory to me.

Wish I could fit more than six dragons, too, for the sakes of Lightning Breath and Frizz Kindleroost.

The Ashes of Outland Demon Hunter Prologue is Live!

New Paladin Weapon - Underlight Angling Rod
I feel it should be like the lackey weapon; 2/2 stats. You want to get the Murlocks off of it sooner to play. Other than that, it is solid
New Paladin Spell - Libram of Hope
This is powerful on its own, but reduced by 2? Now that is value. This is better than the epic that restored 8 life and Drew 3 cards, in my opinion
The new ladder system
i think it is more rewarding because you fell you climbed a lot, but the thing i loved the most is that after the 5 wins you can already use the cardback from that season

I don’t care for some decks, but I can still realize that other people do find them fun
Spacegodzilla, Death Corona from Ikoria to be Renamed in Future Printings, Will Launch on Arena With New Name
Black Lotus step aside this card with its original printing is gonna be most valuable card in MtG.
The Ashes of Outland Demon Hunter Prologue is Live!
That's cool! I'm level 21 now! Muahahahaha!!
New Paladin Minion - Murgur Murgurgle
That prime one is so good. Random Murlocks with divine shield is good. There are not many powerful murlocks, though, so it might be wasted
New Paladin Minion - Lady Liadrin
Hand is gonna get too many spells, and you gonna have to discard cards. You usually can not cast a lot of the spells In one turn, and not anything else from your hand. Though I would want this in a Yogg paladin deck. This card is just average
Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Hunter Cards
This... And empty board vs a hunter with 10 Mana = 12 damage to face... Bigger than Pyroblast, and similar finishing power to the old Druid Combo (FoN/Sr)
New Rogue Spell - Dirty Tricks
Not amazing, but good enough to round out the secret package. Extra draw is always nice.
New Rogue Spell - Ambush
It's a 2 mana 2/3 Poisonous. So easy to activate. So mandatory to activate. It's balanced because 2/3 is OK levels of stats.

New Rogue Minion - Blackjack Stunner
Yeah, no, this will be nerfed eventually. It's a really good card at 3(!!!) mana. The amount of tempo this card gives is insane.
New Rogue Minion - Shadowjeweler Hanar
Brawl Haul - Ashiok Nightmare Muse
Dimir is definitely a color pairing I need to play more of. Thanks again for the support!
New Rogue Minion - Cursed Vagrant
It's brutal value but so slow, especially on Rogue. Amazing in arena, so it has that going for it, I guess, but what is a "arena".
New Rogue Minion - Spymistress
The card is good standalone. I think this card can replace Pharaoh Cat on Galakrond Rogue. It's just much more threatening early.
New Rogue Minion - Ashtongue Slayer
So, a Fireball on turn 2 with Spymistress. Yeah, Spymistress dies after that, but their jobe is done. And there is still a 3/2 left behind.
