When the launch bundles came out, I mentioned how they seemed like a much better deal than the pre-orders, and I got downvoted into oblivion. Nice to know Blizzard agrees with me even if no one else does.
People were wondering how long before Mercs would get stale if Blizzard didn't regularly add new content.
So of course when Blizzard does add new content well before the mode even starts to get stale, someone has to find a stupid ass-backward reason why it's a bad thing.
As always, if you don't enjoy it, don't play. If you don't think something is worth the price, don't buy it. There's no need to insult the people who do enjoy it or those who can afford to buy things you find too expensive.
If you're implying the whole "greed" argument, think about what this actually does. A huge chunk of the Mercenaries revenue stream is supposed to be from coin sales. If people have an extremely easy way to generate coins through PvP reward chests, Mercenaries makes no money. Why would they leave an exploit like that in the game?
If you don't believe Blizz should make money by selling coins (and protecting those sales from exploits), I wonder how you'd monetize the game mode? Selling individual mercs won't do it because you can use coins to craft mercs.
Now, FWIW, I do believe this particular fix is utter garbage, but I also firmly believe they need to come up with some kind of fix.
I'm sure the Mercs offers were in the works long before they even knew about the bugs. Are you really suggesting that the offers -- which are created by an entirely different team that has nothing to do with the coding errors -- should be withheld because ... reasons?
That flowchart is spot-on. The game really should NOT be using the same animations for this as for Hearthstone cards. They need to visually differentiate the guaranteed slot from the four random slots, and also give a visual of your duplicate merc being converted into coins.
"Arcane Humans" (D1STR0Y3R) is a weird name for a party with only one Human and only one Arcane user. Actually, I can't even tell how that team is supposed to work. (I'm guessing it didn't.)
They have enough trouble balancing the game and weeding out bugs without dragging philosophy into it, thank you very much.

Not in the "guaranteed" slot, it isn't. It is possible you got those skins in addition to the merc in the guaranteed slot, but not instead of it.
Did you read the flowchart, or are you just certain you know how it works without doing any research?
Please review the flowchart that explains how Mercs packs work.
You'll find that it's impossible to get a portrait in the "guaranteed" slot if there are Mercs you don't own in every rarity.

I agree that it does open up a way to easily grief your opponent by denying them rewards. I hope they come up with a better plan.

It's not about the MMR; it's about the reward chests.
If people are actually trading wins, both players can get HUGE numbers of coins in a very short time.
That would still be better than the actively bad communication we've been getting lately.
Literally everyone, including Blizzard, would be better off if they chose to play it that way.
I don't understand why you'd think double the price feels bad. In packs, the drop rate of legendaries is like a quarter that of epics, isn't it?
If you don't want to pay, Blizzard doesn't need to care about making the game less grindy for you. That's the harsh reality.
Nice, really looking forward to those particular Mercs QOLs they mentioned.
Notice that my comment was posted before launch. I haven't actually used Morgl at all.

Mercenaries: $5 for a guaranteed Legendary
Genshin Impact (for example): $450 to guarantee a 5-star character.
Lumping these two games into the same category is kind of ridiculous.
It's pretty straightforward, really. If you need a merc, buy the merc. If you don't need a merc but want some coins, buy the coins.
Why would you even consider doing the opposite?

Why does my Modes button keep lighting up with green fire?
