I mean mostly...with the exception of quest paladins if they are a thing.
How can questline even begin to compete with this? (It was never very good in the first place.) Quest's only advantage is that maybe it gets off the ground a little faster, but that's not going to help against this.
Powerful as this seems, it's still a do-nothing turn 5, which is a bit precarious. In fact, you may easily be forced to put off casting it against aggro, and if you put it off too long, its value starts to plummet.
The secret package this time around is SO MUCH better than anything Hunter has ever had before, and Secret Hunter has already worked in the past. There is reason to be optimistic about it.
Even if Shaman gets decent Frost spells, this will never be as reliable as Reckless Apprentice.
In order for Frost Shaman to work, this needed to be Battlecry: Your Hero Power becomes "Passive: Whenever a minion becomes Frozen, deal 3 damage to it."
The current "mind control" combo is random. It will be nice to have a targeted one that doesn't necessarily need the combo -- grabbing a rush minion, for example.
LOL Call of the Grave can discover it. That's not "literally nothing." You may not get the initial DR effect, but it's still worth it just to gain the card in your hand.
Not sure what you've been playing, but I see solo fatties on the opponent's board all the time in the late game.
I'm not sure what you've been playing but I don't usually get to a point where I just play an 8-mana minion and win off it. This is a dead card against plenty of decks that are currently popular. Unless we enter a midrange meta where a constant barrage of lategame threats is common I don't think this is worth a deckslot.
Riiight ... because we never see big shifts in the metagame when an expansion comes out.
Also, where did I say you'd win off it? I don't remember saying that. This strange taste ... it's ... it's like ... words other than my own have been stuffed in my mouth.
I'm sure the whole set will be up on playhearthstone a few days before launch. That's plenty of time for players to make an informed decision about the purchase. This slow trickle of hype has never been necessary -- and recently it has been arguably detrimental.
Obviously I'm here absorbing the content like everyone else, but it's not affecting my purchasing decisions in any way.
I have to agree. But then I might launch into my whole rant about level-based game design and the utter stupidity of vertical progression.

A spell counter for Hunter is a very big deal, even if it only delays it a turn (or two). A little extra time is often the only thing a Hunter needs.
Rolling that board is about a 0.32% chance. I say go for it.
The hero power is random, just like the spell, so you won't get Huffer every turn.
Cariel's power is not Blessing of Kings. It affects a random card in your hand, so it's a lot worse. (Random and no immediate impact.)
Xyrella's power flips back and forth between healing and damage (not 5 damage every turn), and the opponent will always know which one to prepare for.
I'm not saying this is quite as good as those, but c'mon, you severely overhyped those other hero powers.
I think the idea behind this deck is to avoid paying the full 8 mana for anything. At least, that's how most "big" decks work these days.

OK, I'm ready to see the new big spells now. Tower doesn't count.
you probably run both TBH
Spy-o-matic

It gets a new effect every time a new board is added to Standard/Wild. It has an effect for every board that can appear in a Wild game.

Separately or together, these are pretty weak in Standard. A 4/5 Taunt is not a great payoff, even if it comes down before turn 4 (which it won't).

And you consider that bad? An enemy board clear that adds two solid minions to your side? You have some high standards, sir.
