His second task says you need to deal damage with Gift of Ner'zhul. There's no such ability. You actually need to deal damage with Rain of Destruction.
Finkle's name is a reference to the film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, wherein Ace finds that Ray Finkle has assumed the identity of female detective Lois Einhorn.
Making a punchline out of a trans person (as they do in the movie) is problematic, so they've removed the reference. I'd guess they will change it in WoW as well.
I'm so happy to learn that they will be making Reward Track quests more Mercenaries-friendly! It's nice that they are compatible with constructed quests, unlike BGs. If I can finish all my quests without ever playing Questline-stone again, I'll be thrilled. It seems like they are pulling out all the stops to allow people to play the mode they prefer instead of everything being about constructed -- very smart for times like these when one bad expansion wrecks the entire game for the next year and a half.
Yeah, I don't think he's a weak merc. I was just saying I'm not fond of the design decision at this point in the game's life cycle. I will be less annoyed by it when there are more mercs and building a team feels less "paint by numbers."
I agree and actually think at this point that Blizzard should stop doing announcements altogether.
Normal ads at the time of release are all they really need. The in-game tutorial is more than sufficient to familiarize players with the rules, and since it's free to play, no one should be afraid to try it out.
I doubt the preorders they got were enough to offset the negativity generated by a poorly executed announcement.
The buildings you can't do without are absolutely free. You have everything you need to get the feel for the game without spending anything, not even gold. That's all the free-to-play portion of any game is -- a chance to get your feet wet and see if you like it.
And don't forget, you're earning Reward Track XP (i.e., gold) as you play, so it's reasonable that you'd be asked to reinvest some of that back into the mode where you earned it. If you'd rather spend the gold on cards, that's your business, but all that means is Mercenaries isn't that important to you. There's nothing wrong with that. We all make decisions based on our own desires.
I personally think Mercenaries is worth way more than a few hundred gold.
And at the time he'd had his hands on the game for what, a couple of days?
I don't think it's outrageous for a primarily PvE game to require you to do PvE for more than a couple of days to max out your dudes. If you think it's a grind, that just means you don't actually enjoy the game, and that's fine. There are other modes like BGs for people who are allergic to progression-based play.
It was mentioned in the reveal video (but no prices were given), and free players latched on and blew it way out of proportion because they incorrectly assumed none of it would be free.
There are 51 mercs in the game. You can have six in your party. Assuming a full collection, that leaves 45 mercs not gaining XP at any given moment even while you are actively playing the game.
The Training Hall may not be useful to everyone, but people with large collections will be happy to have it -- not because it lets them "skip the game," but because there is a legitimate need to get untrained mercs up to speed quickly when you want to test out different comps.
Rare coins are extremely easy to get, and you can farm them in a targeted manner, so I can't imagine that feeling like a grindy experience.
Epics are less easy, and legendaries are harder still, but that's as it should be. Better units should require more effort to improve, and there has to be some incentive to spend money, or the mode is dead on arrival.
How about Anacondra, Brightwing, Thrall, Krush, Malfurion, Guff (in no particular order)?
The problem I keep running into is arranging the bench in a way that guarantees Brightwing will pull Krush (assuming level 30 stats). It would work with Krush/Anacondra/Malfurion on the bench, but I don't like the way that leaves the starting line.
They will play at different times, the exact triggers we don't know for certain, but give them all a listen and let us know what you think.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that "Encounter Map" plays when you're on the encounter map, "Final Boss" plays when you're fighting a final boss, "The Village" plays when you're in the village, and "Fighting Pit PvP" plays when you're doing PvP.
Actual synergy with Saurfang, though. Not only Saurfang's Whirlwind to guarantee that the traps go off, but also more summoned units to proc Saurfang's berserker's ability.
I don't believe the word "exclusive" was ever used in the pre-order bundle promo. If you read that into it, you have no one to blame but yourself. If you feel shitty about your purchase, take it as a lesson to actually read the wording of offers and not to make assumptions.
I'd be tempted to put Brightwing in the opening lineup. The potential to buff Krush and get him on the board without anyone dying -- while still activating Nature Combos -- is just too good. If not Brightwing, then definitely Malfurion. The Malfurion-Guff synergy seems a lot better to me than Thrall-Guff.
In PvE, it all depends on the enemy comp, but I assume you're referring to PvP here.
I won't make a habit of crafting rares, but it's worth noting that 100 rare coins is basically nothing. I saw Trump get more Tamsin coins than that at the end of a single run of the bounty in question. A lot of people seem to be underestimating how easy it is to get rare coins.
Obviously, I'd rather get her from a pack, but if I don't see her within the first five packs or so, I'll just pull the trigger. I refuse to be a slave to pack RNG.
Heads up if you are working on Gul'dan:
His second task says you need to deal damage with Gift of Ner'zhul. There's no such ability. You actually need to deal damage with Rain of Destruction.
I'm sure it didn't keep you from buying Hearthstone packs before they added that feature.
It's probably on their to-do list. It's certainly not worth getting huffy.
Actually better deals than the pre-orders. I think pre-order people have a legitimate complaint here if they want to press Blizzard on it.
That's right, FortyDust said that.

I think these prices seem quite reasonable.

Black Soulstone seems really bad compared to the other equipment. Am I missing something?
I don't believe the word "exclusive" was ever used in the pre-order bundle promo. If you read that into it, you have no one to blame but yourself. If you feel shitty about your purchase, take it as a lesson to actually read the wording of offers and not to make assumptions.
My guess would be a PvE opponent. I don't recall seeing it on any of the datamined mercs.
It could also be from a merc slated for later release.
I'd be tempted to put Brightwing in the opening lineup. The potential to buff Krush and get him on the board without anyone dying -- while still activating Nature Combos -- is just too good.
