Has anyone been able to make this work yet? I've been waiting to craft it, and if I craft anything for Warlock I'm inclined to make it gold. I just don't want to waster 3200 on a Meme card
I've not encountered any "Lackey Lock" decks other than the common Zoo that is running around, and even then I do not see this guy getting play. Has he been shown to be worth it?
Barnes is not the problem. It's ONE card that puts a RANDOM copy of a minion on the board. The honest problem is the efficient and numerable resurrection spells that Priest has at it's disposal. You want to hit Big Priest? Start changing the cost efficiency of the resurrection spells.
This sucks as it messes up the "7" theme. But it is a balancing issue. Any Hero card that gives more than 5 armor, even though it was only 2 more, is ridiculous. Even Zul'jin is 10 mana. This will cut down on it's mid-range drop dramatically. However if the random buttons maintain unchanged then it is still a viable card to play.
This is hilarious... This card isn't the problem with the deck. The problem is that you can get Mountain Giant out and ping it with Conjurer's Calling to get 2 12 cost minions. Even jumping the cost of this card by one won't stop the ridiculousness of it.
If they wanted to make a good nerf to this card, what they needed to do was something like, "Summon 2 minions of the same cost that you paid to play the original minion" That way a Mountain Giant doesn't turn into 2 big scary things, only 2 mediocre minions.
Like you, Warlock is my primary and am in the process of crafting all Warlock cards in gold. I still have Warrior and Hunter left... I've never liked playing either class, so these have been the last ones for me.
I love this deck! I've wanted to create a working version of it in Wild, and that is yet to be seen... Nonetheless, it works GREAT in this Tavern Brawl:
I play the hell out of my own decks ad nauseam. I enjoy being able to craft my own stuff with a theme. I know that most of my own creations get annihilated and I couldn't care less. I play the game to have fun. I have no delusions of grandeur that I am going pro. I play maybe an hour a day broken up throughout the day at best.
But I like being able to craft my own stuff. Not going to lie, sometimes what I make is an offshoot of what someone else did. I remember that I played against a Warrior deck that looked almost like a mirror deck. I thought to myself, "How are they playing the exact same deck?" But then I saw some tech that they used and I totally put it in my deck. I really only play the "Net Decks" to get my rank up to 10 and call it good usually.
I hope that tag line got your attention to open this thread. I am wanted to see what other players feel about a sentiment that I have regarding Casual play vs Ranked. I am very much a casual player, I think the highest rank I've ever attained was 7. With that in mind, whenever a new set is released, there are a number of cards that I would love to try, but I do not want to commit to crafting. Thus the title of this thread....
WOULDN'T IT BE NICE IF... there was an option to be able to theory craft a card and play it in a deck to try it out and see if you want to craft the real thing. Something like... TheoryCraft this card for 100 dust and it is good for 10 games. After that, it disappears and you either say, "Well, that sucked. Guess I'll try something else." or, "I am totally going to craft that Golden!"
What do you all think of this idea, or what WOULDN'T IT BE NICE IF... ideas do you have?
Until I craft Spiritsinger Umbra, would Baron Rivendare be a decent substitute? It's the same cost, and I would imagine stays out just as long once your opponent realizes what's coming.
In the Standard Meta, I auto-include that in my decks that are running aggro simply because taunts are what get in the way, and anything other than that, such as lifelink, I'm out damaging what they can do... so I like the use of that card.

I really want to see this employed more in standard.

Has anyone been able to make this thing work in a constructed format? Everytime I see it, it doesn't work well.
I would encourage you to get the expansion because it's fun. Not to mention the cards can be played in Wild. If I were you, get the expansion

Was combo priest such a problem? This seems like it was totally unnecessary
I'm glad I have it gold so I can nuke it for the full 3200 dust

For the purpose of this tavern brawl... sure! Why Not?

It doesn't craft A card you want, you just play one of the premade decks

there was the Nax playable adventure
That's a fair statement. Although with the N'Zoth's First Mate, Upgrade!s, King's Defenders, Fiery War Axe, and the Woodcutter's Axes, you have plenty of weapons. Maybe drop one of the redundant King's Defenders and go with something for the potential bigger hit... like Arcanite Reaper. Also, why aren't you running Patches the Pirate? With Ship's Cannon he's kind of an autoinclude
