  • Parachute Brigand?

From a shattered world we came to plunder - Draenor. Plus, it's a pirate.

And tore the fragile peace asunder - The first and second war.

Alas, to spread the dark anew - Little iffy on this one.

We must recruit a whole new crew - It gets pulled from your hand with other pirates.

  • Why bring this one back so soon? I honestly think they should give every brawl at least a year to breath. They have enough now that they don't have to have frequent repeats.

  • I don't think it has anything to do with Demon Hunter. I think it's meant to be all the sets from 2020 + WotOG. Why else would Galakrond's Awakening be in by itself?

  • Deathrattles aren't run because N'Zoth the Corruptor is good, N'Zoth the Corruptor is run because Deathrattles are good. It's the same deal with this guy. If there is a strong Beast, Dragon, Elemental, and maybe Demon that you would already just put in a Control deck, then this guy will see play. That's a tall ask, but not an impossible one.

170 cards; who knows. Druid and Warlock are both halfway there already. Fingers crossed Demon Hunter gets some tools to abuse this with. I just want my control DH, Blizz.

  • I still have my fingers crossed that the gamemode is a set rotation mode, where every few months a different combination of card sets is legal. Like how Arena used to be. They did say that the new gamemode would require your card collection.

  • I'd like an expansion focusing on tauren or draenei. They're the least explored races in Hearthstone.

I'd also love a Caverns of Time set with callbacks to previous expansions (far enough from now that it doesn't step on Rise of Shadows). All ten classes could get a set of cards "from the past", bringing back an expansion each.

In general, I'd like another "no-plot" expansion like GvG, where they have the freedom to add whatever.

Isn't it early for the next expansion reveal? I would expect this has much more to do with the new play mode.If we do learn what the new expansion is, I don't expect to see any new cards - unless they are giving them away.

The teaser for Decent of Dragons was also posted around this time (28th of October).

Blizzcon is supposed to be in the first week of November, so they likely had this schedule planned from the start of the year. This being the gamemode seems pretty unlikely given the teaser for the third expansion was Darkmoon Faire-themed.

EDIT: I'll also add, as a Heroes of the Storm player, when they got kicked out of Blizzcon last year, they revealed their Blizzcon hero a month early. Deathwing had a trailer and a full showcase by this point. Maybe everything is getting bumped up a week now.
  • I don't know why they brought back The White King again. He's been in all three. They could've at least given us Naz'jar (Evolve-every-turn lady) as well.

On a side note: I can't tell if the story is true to the lore, but I liked it.

It's pretty faithful. The only thing that was made up was him saving Misha from a bear trap (it's not specified how he tamed Misha in the actual canon). The only major thing missing was Haratha's death, which was Rexxar's original companion. He sacrificed himself to save Rexxar from a warlock that was going to drain Rexxar's life to sustain himself. It's one of the major reasons Rexxar abandoned the Horde.

Also, shame on y'all for seeing a bear caught in a trap and immediately trying to kill it. You've been playing too much Hearthstone - you see Hunter and you just go face :P

    The stories are barely connected

They're as related as they were in Warcraft proper. I don't know what more you were expecting. These are faithful Sparknotes retellings of the heroes' backstories.

They probably want to avoid covering the same ground twice anyway.

  • Because they have to get voice overs for every single language. That's a lot harder to do.

I mean, what is even the point of buying this Scholar Jaina, even if they update voice lines? Golden Jaina or Fire Jaina are better and cooler in any aspect. Yet people buy this Scholar Jaina.

Ain't that kind of subjective? I prefer Scholar Jaina because I like Warcraft III, and I liked Jaina's character before they edgified her.

  • I would be shocked if the third expansion isn't the Darkmoon Faire. The aesthetic on the teaser and aesthetic on the Darkmoon Faire cardback are identical. Like, so identical anything else would be Blizzard straight-up lying.

I also feel like Blushroom is more of a coincidence that a purposeful tie-in. AoO drew from Hellfire Peninsula and Shadowmoon Valley more than any other zone. There's bits and bobs from all over Outland, but all the promotion really focused on those. Compare Blushroom with the actual Hellfire Peninsula card back from last December together, and tell me which one screams 'Ashes of Outland' more.

I mean, I've wanted a Pandaria expansion for years now. This reasoning seems a bit flimsy to me, though.

  • Maybe they'll go back and add lines to Scholar Jaina. She already had a few in the adventure - it wouldn't be hard.

  • So, Guardian Animals is officially no longer a dual-class card. Cool.

  • I just like that it's the same Alexstrasza model from the Dragons of the Nexus cinematic.

    I know your tricks, Blizz.
  • The only adventure I'd call outright bad was Trial by Felfire. That one was pretty rough.

As a huge Warcraft nerd, this was honestly a lot of fun. I could see it as a jumping-off point for people who play Hearthstone and are interested in Warcraft lore, which is exactly the purpose it serves. Especially once we have them all, you'll get a pretty good outside picture of Warcraft's story.

The Book of Heroes very well can suffer the same fate. If Team 5 releases a hero story every expansion cycle from this point on, it will be August of 2023 before we have all of the stories unlocked.

They're releasing them monthly AFAIK. We'll have all ten by July next year.

  • I think they said they're doing a new chapter once a month. Rexxar is probably next.

  • You can do things on the Pandaria board other than cycle vegetables forever?!
