Personally, I think the best thing to do would be to make the hero power cost 2 mana like everyone else's, and make it give +2 attack instead of +1. I think the 1 mana hero power is a design flaw in the class. In most cases, you hero power shouldn't be central to your decks strategy. It shouldn't be as efficient as Demon Hunter's is. A hero power should just be that thing you do with your extra mana if you don't have anything else to play. As it is now, it feels like every Demon Hunter is an Even DH only without the deckbuilding restriction.

I dont agree with you there. New class is a new concept and that alone breaks many the old stigmas, so saying that "Hero Power should just be that thing you do with extra Mana" doesnt sound like a good argument to me. Tho maybe it will end up like that, once it gets more cards and its archetypes can branch out. Obviously it feels very one dimensional on release when the card pool is small and cards are designed for a specific archetype to go along with everything else in the class, Hero Power included. You could look at it the opposite way, this is how every class should have been, their Hero Power be their calling card, not "something to do with spare mana" :)

Can I somehow remove my submission?

Unfortunately no, we do not allow people to edit or remove their cards after submitting :( We always suggest people come here first if they want feedback on their ideas.

I can understand not making the card editable, but what about the description below it? Say you make a typo in it?
Also totally missed this thread before I submitted my entry. Used to posting in a forum submission thread and all that. Guess the HearthPwn version of the competition I always played in needs to phase out of my head.

What I made (might help someone avoid making a copy):

While I really like this idea, there's already one submission which is nearly identical (minion goes dormant when played) and Elfensilver showed us another version of it 8 posts above of yours (hunter version, though). You can check the already submitted entries on your voting page. As I have no idea who had the idea first, I would give all of you the same raiting, but that's only my view and I wanted to let you know that there are similar cards around.

Thanks. Going through all 40+ submissions by refresh though is going to get old very fast.

Why not just show all submissions on the page with a random order? That way everyone sees different cards first or last and you can much much more quickly look and see if your idea is present or not. 40 images isn't exactly server breaking (and you could auto-generate lightweight thumbnails of them for that page if needed).

I'd submit a different card now given the other Rogue Secret with Dormant in the pool but sadly I can't remove my entry. Shouldn't it be possible to modify/update/replace your entry until the voting phase starts? Until then no one can vote, so what's the harm right? Otherwise whoever throws down a card quickly enough will get free additional votes by virtue of being present on the voting page earlier. Timezones alone would make that unfair.

Maybe a timer or a specific amounts of views would be needed to lock in your card before the voting phase?

As soon as you can submit, you can vote.

    • Submission Phase: Enter the competition and vote on everyone's submissions.
    • Voting Phase: Last chance to help us choose the finalists. Get those votes in - Good luck!

Voting period is just an extra period to give ppl time to vote. Our weight system makes sure that the cards with less views are shown more often so that every card has roughly the same amount of votes, or rather it gets roughly the same amount of view time, ppl can decide not to vote on a card. So even the very late submission generally get fair amount of view time to be voted on. Prime example is the last weeks winner, it was literally the last submission, yet it won the whole thing!

You can see all the cards you voted on on your Voting Page, as said. We might add an option to see all at once at some point.

Submissions are closed for editing for a reason and you are given warning that is the case. We might change this in the future, but no change for now.

Naw, you guys are making total sense. I'll try to keep it tasteful, but hey, I'm as opinionated as the next player and do enjoy a good drink with my forum thumping. I'll keep it to a minimum is what I'm trying to say, haha

So far really enjoying the tone here. Hearthpwn is just obequitous 'jump-down-the-throat on what op posted'. Pick any random thread and the first reply is always one sentence knocking someone down no matter how relevant or not what they had to say was. Yay for being over it

We are not saying turn into a yes-man and dont argue with anyone, just do it in a respectful manner ;-)

Wish I'd looked in this thread before submitting my card, but here's Swindle:

    Swindle

Rogue always appreciates cheap cards for activating Combos, so Swindle kind of handles that for the class. Plus, if Secret Burgle Rogue ever becomes a thing, this would fit nicely with that deck. I decided to make it Rare because it's fairly easy to play around, but has a high ceiling. This is also my first submission ever on here. Thanks for looking!

I love everything about your card, except for the watermark. Makes no sense that Rogue would have one Secret from a Classic set for years before getting a new one. Let this be a reminder to others to be mindful of this. It is better to use custom watermark, if you cant put it in KAC or AOO, or give it a good flavor that it would make sense to be a standalone one in one of the sets in between. There is one submission which did just that.

That being said, pretty good for 1st submission.

Well whoever he or she or it is they have zero sense of humor and enjoy punitive action.

well calling racist to a WoW character aint much humour skill i would say. seems like a title to capture attention more than anything

Honestly, it was just snarky humor. Certainly not racist in of itself and acceptable as being hyperbolic. I believe most people wouldn't consider the title, "Nozdormu is racist against mobile players" banworthy. Or maybe Ive just watched too much adult swim idk

Hi, Live4vrRdieTryn, welcome to our neck of the woods :) I hope you will have a pleasant experience here, and so will we :)

To the topic: you can be snarky, but you shouldnt be in poor taste, and using words like "racist" or especially my favorite "retarded" as adjective in regular conversation as a "lighthearted fun", or as an actual insult etc. That is not something one should do. Ever. Let alone on a public forum. I can understand using that kind of sense of "humor" among friends who know each other, but not online.

While i dont think that what you did was a bannable offense, it did deserve a response. And as few ppl said already, it is always a good time to take a step back and think about your (posting) behavior, if you get called on it. They might be wrong about calling you out sometimes, they might be right tho. All im saying is, one should be more mindful of the stuff that one lets out in the open, is all ;-)

Hope i didnt scare you off :)

It should, unless they changed something alongside the new no duplicate rule. If you do decide to get it, report back, so we know! :)

    @linky:

    • Counter Strike - i suppose an ok card, but could be super annoying, especially in combination with other secrets, getting a divine shield as well could be pretty nasty. You can shorten the wording "... give it +5 Attack."
    • Smokescreen - do you want to die faster ?:D any token can negate your taunt :)
    • Feedback Blast - i think its on the weaker side, but it could be ok, not like you can do much to change literally anything about this card lol :)

Counter Strike will probably be the best out of the 3.

Here's what happened. I'm playing Tempo Demon Hunter (yes, yes, I'm a real bastard, I know, just wanted to grab up some easy ranks before the second nerfs hit). Drop my Imprisoned Antaen on curve (cuz I like winning). He wakes up and sprays his 10 damage all over the place, then my opponent plays Maiev Shadowsong and puts him back to sleep. Two turns later, he wakes back up and guess what? Ten more damage to my enemy's board and face.

Just wanted to put this out there for anyone who hasn't seen this interaction.

On a related note, I've also seen buffed minions put to sleep by Maiev, and wake up with their buffs intact. Also good to know.

To be fair, this interaction was entirely expected. The new dormant minions have a two part ability. One puts them to sleep, one awakens them. If you can put the minion back to a dormant state, the minion text clearly say what will happen when it is awaken again.

But thanks for the heads up anyway, its always nice to have confirmation ;-)

Congrats to everyone who made it to the finalists. Kind of sad I didn't make it, but there is always next time!

I would like some more feedback on my card to see where I went wrong so I can design better next time. Every competition I think my card is super strong, but I never to make it to the finals. Advice on designing better cards would be greatly appreciated.

    My card:

    Show Spoiler

Where did I go wrong? Where did my card fall short?

I kinda liked the card, the overall feel was good (Art+character+setting), but the balance/playability is what bothered me. At 4 mana, it is probably close to unplayable, it is just super weak stat-cost ratio. Tho at 3 mana, i feel like it would be too strong. Also making it lower cost would just mean that you could just put this card in your deck and a quest and build a rest of the deck differently, having only Eternal Knight to finish the quest. With 4 mana, that would be sooooooo sloooooooow, not to mention the tempo loss every turn. I dont think even the best control decks would be able to afford that, but like i said, make it lower cost (and stat decrease wouldnt rly help to balance that), and it would become probably too strong.

Overall, your design was good, just the ability wasnt something that was easy to implement.

    a Clan/Guild system

Mhm, I wonder how they envision this. Average HS player has like 3-5 friends maybe? lol ... and forcing you to make "friends", if it was a requirement, would not feel exactly great. But maybe it is a feature more aimed at PRO scene, or laddering with few friends / group of ppl? There could be something like "team chat" for more than 2 ppl at the time. The game isnt exactly "social friendly". Maybe they want to change that? Guess we will have to wait and see.

From looking at all the comments, it does seem like my idea would be far too powerful. Would 2 Mana “add 2 silver hand recruits to your hand” be better? It might make the Hero Power less flexible.

No, that would be worse than the current one. You would be clogging your hand with cards you dont want to play, i guess you could argue instead of Hero Powering, you could just play the recruits you got from the previous HP. It would be incredibly anti-tempo, dont think paladin as a class is build for that. You would need to change the Basic/Classic set to include some hand-buff synergy and you would then force paladin into one-dimensional play, hand-buff/hand pally with Mountain Giants would be a must.

Basically adding the recruit to hand is a horrible idea no matter how you look at it :)

It would be totally broken imho.

    • You could not waste mana from T1.
    • You would always have a throwaway token for whatever interaction you would need it to.
    • You could generate tokens to be buffed in hand.
    • You could basically play Mountain Giant on T4, same as Warlock.
    • Instant buff for all Inspire cards.

Thats just off the top of my head. Yeah, i get what you were trying to do, but look at how much impact would such a small change have.

For some reason, i didnt realize Nagrand Slam can actually go face. Which makes it less consistent "clear", but it also turns it into a "potentially better pyroblast". Ok, that probably makes it a lot better than i gave it credit for, since you can use it as finisher.

I've had Nethrandamus a few times now and it's been an absolute game winner. Crazy good card, especially if you can get to 10, which isn't terrible difficult.

Do you keep it on mulligan?
