Hey Dragonbane, the hunter legendary, is also an inspire effect without the keyword.

True... why use keywords when you can add extra text, right?

  • I really like the idea of having a few small ways to bring Wild cards into the Standard format from time to time.  I made this as a custom card a while back.  Part of a competition on the old site that was about bringing in old mechanics like we were going to see over the course of the Year of the Dragon.  I'm actually a little upset we got no new Inspire cards during the year.  But I guess we got Phase Stalker... which is Inspire without the Keyword.

  • Before [Hearthstone Card (Pogo Hopper) Not Found] and when Patches still had Charge this was the OP deck for this Brawl.  But now... it's Pogos!

  • I played one match, Pogo vs Pogo.  Difference maker?  I got Dragon's Hoard into Stargazer Luna.  My opponent opted to run his 11/11 into my 11/11 instead of my 2/4.  Next turn I played a Pogo, drew a Pogo.  Played that one, drew a Pogo.  This was turn 5, at the end of which I was sitting with 2/4, 13/13, 15/15, 17/17, random 1/1 pirate, 19/19 board.  He only had a 13/13 against my board and my almost full HP.

So yes, card draw in the mirror is HUGE!  And not removing a random Luna in the Pogo match up is suicide!

  • Even if it were just for a limited time event, adding cards with these characters would be sweet.  Love the pack shuffling, especially the Wild Pack idea.

  • Agreed!  Rush is not a bad mechanic, but a bit over used at the moment.

  • Not all of these are going to be in the top tier meta decks, just saying I've personally played or seen them recently:

WW: Ferocious Howl, Rat Trap, Arcane Keysmith, Blink Fox, Tess Greymane, Zap!, Earthen Might, Hagatha the Witch, Shudderwock, Lord Godfrey, Town Crier, Warpath, Baleful Banker (as part of Holy Wrath Paladin), Lifedrinker, Scaleworm (in some Dragon builds), Witchwood Grizzly

BDP: Floop's Glorious Gloop, Dendrologist, Landscaping, Flobbidinous Floop, Mulchmuncher, Fireworks Tech, Venomizer, Spider Bomb, Stargazer Luna, Luna's Pocket Galaxy, Autodefense Matrix, Crystology, Glow-Tron, Crystalsmith Kangor, Prismatic Lens, Shrink Ray, Necrium Blade, Voltaic Burst, Electra Stormsurge, Thunderhead, The Soularium, Eternium Rover, Weapons Project, Mecharoo, Galvanizer, SN1P-SN4P, Subject 9, Zilliax, Damaged Stegotron, Mechanical Whelp, Missile Launcher, Mecha'thun

RR: Wardruid Loti, Predatory Instincts, Springpaw, Master's Call, Flash of Light, Time Out!, Shirvallah, the Tiger, Seance, Mass Hysteria, Likkim, Spirit of the Frog, Zentimo, Rain of Toads, Grim Rally, Blood Troll Sapper (this is definitely a personal favorite), Dragon Roar, Firetree Witchdoctor

So there are definitely more cards in play than what was coming to mind for you, and honestly the early rotation of all odd/even mechanic cards took some other potential options out of standard play.  Specifically things like Daring Fire-Eater, Cinderstorm, Clockwork Automaton, and Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk which were cards I ran in my Odd Mage deck prior to the early odd/even rotation.

But yes, overall the power level of the Year of the Dragon sets was much higher than Year of the Raven and overall a lot of the existing top archetypes will probably exist after rotation and just need some adjustments with the cards they are losing.  Whether that comes Year of the Dragon replacements or from the new set(s) of 2020 we'll have to wait and see.  One of the few archetypes I can say for certain will become Wild only after this is the Shirvallah Holy Wrath Paladin deck as the mighty Loa and her Banker are going WIld.

As for rotation, it's always whatever came out two year ago.  So the first set of 2020 is released, anything from 2018 rotates to Wild.  Currently Wild is any set or adventure from 2017 and eariler.

  • I think the two of them came up with an idea for a new game so they left the HS team to start initial concept and design work on the new project.

  • Seems to me like they plucked a few talented people from the Hearthstone team to lead a new project.  Or maybe the two of them came up with an idea for a new game and got the green light to start working on it so they are in early stages and likely going to build a new team of their own.  Others could make the jump to the new project, but even if they do they have a lot of other people on the Hearthstone team that may not be as well known publicly, but likely capable of filling their shoes.

  • Not sure how viable this is at top ranks, but it's been fun getting some good wins with my Buff Spiders deck.  Mostly Shadow Isles with some Demacia in there to buff units.  Made this day 1 with a very limited card pool in my collection so likely due for a slight reworking.

  • Nozdormu the Timeless was my freebie, opened Waxadred, Chenvaala, and Nithogg.

From the Year of the Dragon legendary cards I'm only missing Elise the Enlightened and Ysera, Unleashed now.

  • In the example image I saw Vicious Scraphound which I would have sworn was a Boomsday card, but it's apparently Rise of Shadows.  I think a few other mechs like Ursatron and Clockwork Goblin are from Shadows as well, but I constantly assume they were BDP.

  • I would have thought it would work differently, but I might just be used to the way [Hearthstone Card (Explosive Ruins) Not Found] works when a Divine Shield minion with 5 or less health is played into it.  In that case, the shield protects them from damage, but if they have 3 health, then the Ruins hits them for 0 and does 3 to the enemy hero.  Divine Shield only stops the splash damage if the Divine Shielded minion would have taken all 6 of the damage from Ruins.

While that is of course an entirely different game, the funny thing about it is I would have always expected Ruins in Hearthstone to act more like what you're seeing in Runeterra with the Overwhelm into Barrier interaction.  In other words, I always wondered why Ruins didn't hit a Divine Shield minion for 1 to pop their bubble, then send 5 to the enemy hero, as that is more accurate in how that interaction actually works.  So really, I guess it's no surprise that the interaction works this way in Runeterra as it seems somewhat more logical... I guess?

Come to wild then. the variety is amazing.

yea if your idea of variety is reno mage, secret mage or handbuff mech paladin

If you're only focused on ladder climbing and trying to reach legend in Wild, yes there will be a handful of really strong decks you're going to find again and again.  Especially as you climb higher.  At lower ranks you're still going to encounter a lot of those same powerful decks, and even some of the weaker decks will appear more often than some of the really off the wall crap, but overall a much broader variety than Standard.  Which is of course natural given the much higher amount of available cards.

  • I was trying a few different things yesterday, including a Galakrond Warrior shell with some of the bomb cards thrown in.  It wasn't bad, but wasn't the best.  Also included Warpaths and at least one of the Brawls in my list.  Still not sold, but I always liked playing this archetype before.  Thought it would come back with all the highlander decks.  I feel like it needs one more good card that shuffles bombs into the opponent's deck, and Seaforium Bomber isn't quite it.  That or another way to reduce cost of some cards, to make an Elekk turn with bombs come sooner.

yeah It's garbage...2 slow for these current decks

Was thinking of making a deck like this earlier, but also thought it would have to be more tempo oriented.  Used to run a Quest Warrior deck with Bomb synergies as a secondary win condition, and a way to disrupt Zephrys.  Going to look it over now and make some changes.   Can almost immediately tell you -2 Beryllium Nullifier, also not sure why Whirlwind made the cut over Warpath, especially since part of the appeal is triggering Bomb Wrangler and then using the echo effect to immediately kill off the Boom Bot to try and deal burst damage.

Lastly, I'm not sure the Bad Luck Albatross is really that beneficial as the added bombs are enough deck disruption by wrecking highlander effects and causing damage on draw.  Will let you know what other changes I come up with.

  • I never got locked out.  Did you access your account on pc after the patch but before it hit mobile?  I think that once the game sees your account login on a device with the latest patch you can’t use that account on a device with the old patch.

Regardless, it’s available for iOS now

  • Boompistol Bully could be a big part of the meta game.  Delaying some big battlecry cards by one or two turns, like Galakrond, Kronx, Heistbaron Tog, Dragonqueen Alex, etc.  I like it

  • The only problem I noticed was any Aviator Bob encounters on Mobile/Tablet would crash right away.  But they worked fine on PC.

  • Personally I don’t care about frequency of changes, but rather timeliness of changed when needed.  I feel like these have been good lately.

Also, having a golden Dragon’s Pack and golden Scion helped make the nerfs pretty nice for me personally!
