If we're being technical most classes in WoW lore can use some sort of weapon, it just so happens that for Hearthstone it was decided that only 5 were actually supposed to be dedicated weapon classes.
if genn and baku come back they will ruin the entire even
I thought about this, and I don't think they actually would.
Realistically, there aren't many classes that would even benefirt from an upgraded hero power that much.
Outside of Warrior and Rogue I don't see any class making good use out of Genn or Baku (at least when compared to what they currently have)
Those cockroaches always find a way. Even warlock still has Twilight Drake, Mountain Giant and some new self-harm cards.
Even paladin has always been a good deck in standard too.
I'm surprised they didn't add Yogg-Saron, Hope's End though, if those leaks turn out to be true.
To be fair, Warlock would really appreciate having any other option than Zoo, and Even paladin lost most of its powerful cards with the rotation anyways.
Honestly I hope they do the same event next expansion and bring backk Genn and Baku just so we could actually see how they would have impacted the meta if they never rotated at all.
God I hope this is false...otherwise have fun with Shamans dropping double Fleshshaper on turn 4-5, wiping your board and then evolving them both into 8-drops....on top of the Mutate shenanigans we already have.
Not to mention machine gun mage. Oh and Quest Druid now gets a 0-mana 7/7 +10 armor if they get to turn 10.
and of course Warlock would get shafted again with the memes. And Rogue just gets even more thief stuff because I guess Quest Rogue needs to work somehow. Would have preferred deathrattle support over that.
Either way, the event's not gonna last more than a month, so even if the meta gets fucked upsidedown we won't have to endure it for too long
I suppose we'll see a lot more viable control decks
At this point N'zoth can fit into a multitude of decks.
A few noteworth instances are:
Deathrattle Control Paladin (you can always run a 3-card Shirvallah combo as a 25-damage finisher when grinding isn't enough)
Deathrattle Rogue (which, outside of card draw issues could absolutely beat every other control deck just via bouncing and then shuffling N'zoth)
Control Warlock (plot twist with Dorian and Betrug means getting out Deathrattles quickly and in the case of betrug also preventing them from being polymorphed, which could solve both the lack of healing and lack of win condition that Warlock suffers from)
multiple Highlander variants (since Kartut defender counts as two spawns for N'zoth, and Applebaum can be the fird, which is enough lategame value and can be stacked up with more solid Deathrattles)
Mechrattle Hunter (the Oblivitron build) might come back, since you can build it in a way that maximizes both Zul'jin and N'zoth value for ultra lategame power
it doesn't matter what it does in Wild, what matters is that it's currently one of the best decks in Standard and you can't just give it a huge buff like that for no reason.
no offense, but getting both Reno and KAzakus back would be absolute cancer. Highlander Hunter is already top tier, but also giving them access to a full heal would be ridiculous. I mean at that point, what would even counter them?
Love the portrait stuff - finally a great looking Guldan! Not really that much into the "Flash from the Past", but better than nothing. Still hoping they actually make the "legendary quest" actually give huge rewards instead of one witchwood pack. Let's see.
The change to quests still has me baffled. The problem with them is not that they are too hard to achieve. The problem is that they give you only 50g, and the hardest 60g - the 100 are so rare I'm not even taking them into consideration. Instead of making them easier, increase their rewards. You've done it once, you can do it again
honestly, the difference between 60 and 50g is mostly the amount of time invested...meaning it's kind of frustrating if you have to play 3-5 games just to complete a quest that says "win 2 games with x-class". I'd rather be done quickly and go back to playing decks I actually like instead of having to copy the best aggro version of whatever meta deck is currently available to the class.
I just think current Gul'dan doesn't look threatening whatsoever. I mean he is basically one of the most evil and powerful mortals in the entire WoW lore, but he just looks like a wrinkly prune with too much colour saturation. The new portrait really portrays his imposing nature and if my theorycraft of Standard N'zoth-lock works out I'll use it to grind the fuck out of those 750 more wins I need, just to have a good alternative to Nemsy (although you can't beat her sassy apple chewing animation, it's just too good)
the point is mostly the general idea of what 8-drops are supposed to do...which is usually be a big beatstick that gives you instant value, meaning any other 8-drop will have to do better than that or else just be ignored by virtue of being inferior to an already existing option.
Also I'm not to keen on a card whose value is determined by RNG to be a constant factor in the game. It doesn't feel good to get dicked by the classic 50/50.
Either way, I guess we'll find out for ourselves once this goes live.
I don't want to sound greedy or unreasonable, but I would have loved to have the chance to, let's say, keep one of those 23 cards (maybe not even a Legendary if you don't want to) , being that an encouragement for actually investing into Wild. I mean, something like SN1P-SN4P but for Wild.
I'm not against that, but how would that realistically be implemented? Would it be randomized like the free legendaries on expansions launch? I don't think there'S currently a possibility to let people select a card to keep out of multiple ones
wouldn't go that far because every future 8-drop would have to compare to him favorably and we'D be back to square one. Just because he's no longer an auto include doesn't mean he won't limit design space (which is the reason he went in the first place)
If Rag hadn't rotated then Lich King probably wouldn't have seen nearly as much play (probably only in HAdronox Druid and alongside rag in greedy control decks)
I don't know why people just complain about quests related to some tribes, it's very easy
Play X Pirates: Make a warrior or rogue deck full of pirates
Play X Murlocs/Elementals: Shaman deck full of murlocs/elementals
Play x Beasts: Hunter deck full of beasts
Play x Demons: Warlock deck full of demons......
and so on
Play x class cards, just make a deck full of that class cards
With like 2 games you can complete those quests, in wild casual/ranked, just 10 minutes to complete, even less.
I assume it's mostly because they have to go out of their way to build a trash deck for it and can't use the time on ranked. If you get a regular quest (like play 30 class cards) you can just use a proper deck and take it to ladder until you're done. Can't really build a functioning deck with a whole lot of pirates (although Murlocs would definitely work)
"That Mutate package is outrageous. Whether or not it's nerf-worthy remains to be seen."
Imagine my shock
because it's a deck that can still win even if you don't snowball early (although most of the time it wins by snowballing early)
it's also relatively cheap overall

what's the point of the quest though? If anything we'll just end up with Cyclone Mage that stalls until turn 5 and then goes omeganuts
not even as good as just running double Unleash the Beast. Probably still good in Highlander

well, with the new event mage might get some seriously relevant cards.
Just N'zoth is already a pretty decent buildaround for Highlander Mage and if Standard doesn't work you can always tear it up in Wild with Secret mage
it doesn't matter what it does in Wild, what matters is that it's currently one of the best decks in Standard and you can't just give it a huge buff like that for no reason.
the face is a bit off, but that's just stylization I guess

to be fair, anything is better than the purple gremlin we have now (go Team Nemsy)
