Hearthstone

Azeroth has long been in a great war between two major factions, the Horde and the Alliance. In recent years things have escalated to where many in Azeroth can no longer survive. They call upon Netherspite and Chronormu to create a portal to a new land, away from the conflict. That is where they find Méa. A land rich with wildlife and resources, where the water gives many soothsaying powers.

This is my first 135+ card expansion which I finished a while ago, but recently went under some maintenance as I wasn't happy with a decent number of the cards. Most of the art used in this expansion is from the card game Faeria, which has an excellent concept, but bad monetary system.

The new keyword introduced in this expansion is Foresee:

The cards would show up in a discover-like interface, where the button normally used to temporarily hide the cards would stop showing them to you.

Not a new concept in customhearthstone, but I feel the way it has been used has been to the fullest. Note: Dormant and Reborn are both used in this expansion.

I want to say a big thank you to many people who helped make this expansion, Steli, Wass, Spaceturtle and Aflag are but a few.

Although this was mostly a solo project where I created 141/145 cards, Aflag was the creator of: Jaspar, Exploration, Sky Surveyor and Chief Shonaka.

So here are the 145 cards, feedback would be appreciated and anything you think could be improved! (Included in this expansion is my favourite custom card that I've made, bet you won't be able to guess which it is!) For reference this expansion was technically finished first before AoO.

So, I'm working on this expansion; a whole year of expansions actually. And I just happened to create a card that, in my humble opinion, captures the thematic essence of a certain WoW character. I wanted to share this as a standalone card rather than with a whole batch of cards. Would love to hear your thoughts too. I'll also be giving brief information about the card and how it works since it's a little complex than most Hearthstone cards, perhaps comparable to Zephrys the Great in that it requires a specific algorythm.

Wow! Some of those effects are damn flashy and perhaps even too harsh. But the text of Arbiter is too cryptic. How am I supposed to understand what's going on? How can I determine what Realm The Arbiter chooses? Here's the catch:

The Arbiter simply takes note of certain actions the enemy player does while playing the game. Each realm has 4 actions that count towards it. Sometimes those may overlap, and in rare cases that some realms completely even themselves out, The Arbiter simply praises Yogg and yoinks the enemy into a random realm.

The concept itself is pretty straightforward and perhaps a copy-paste of what The Arbiter does and what each realm of Shadowlands stands for in WoW lore. But I found it hard to explain it in words (cards!) without turning it into a Yu-Gi-Oh tier mess.

Now I want to open up more about the design of each realm for those that may be unfamiliar with WoW lore (trust me, while it's getting butchered recently, it's intriguing enough to make me, a person who only played for a year to still follow it) while also giving insight about the way I designed some aspects of this card.

Recently, they added afterlife to WoW, called Shadowlands. There are 5 main realms in it, as you can see above.

-Ardenweald is basically Druid stuff but blue; as such the effect is about Mana.

-Bastion is a realm where people like Uther, loyal and honorable men of duty, went to after death, so there's a touch of Paladin and other "good guy" stuff.

-Maldraxxus is the "I CRUSH YOU ME STRONG WARRIOR" realm with a twist; they're all skeletons and it has a green, nasty color scheme. The requirements for The Arbiter to put your opponent in Maldraxxus are basically all Warrior stuff, and that's by design.

-Revendreth is the one I had fun the most while designing around it; it's a realm that prideful and jaded souls go to after they die; I tried to make a connection with Control style decks and Control players' attitude (I'm a control player myself btw), hence the effect and its prequisites.

-The Maw is Hell. It's for the worst of the worst. In my initial design, the effect was a lot more harsher (It also destroyed Mana Crystals) and I had a prequisite related to Demons that made it look like I had a hate boner for DH (shockingly, I don't). The thing is, I wanted The Maw to punish aggro players because it's just a thematic fit that the most aggresive and reckless players would get the worst punishment of all. But as you already realized, by turn 10 it isn't important whether you've destroyed their deck or not, if you've came that far vs aggro you already won. So it's kind of bugging me that something that makes sense on paper won't ever fulfill it's meaning if it's implemented in the actual game. Perhaps this needs more work? idk.

All in all, I had fun brainstorming and coming up with designs that I think are interesting while making this card. I would love to hear your thoughts about it. Hopefully I'll be able to share more custom cards in the future. And if you've read that far, cheers to you man!

as my understanding goes, if one reaches level 50 in the rewards track, i get to choose one of the 10 hero portraits. will the others be available still next expansion or will they swap them each cycle?

do we have information about this?

I was playing against a mage and sure RNG was a thing but I didn't expect that much of RNG. He got offered 2 or 3 time an Evocation but one was from Wand Thief. I know the card used to cost one mana but now the cost is 2 mana. Is someone aware of this bug or am I missing something that can explain why he got it ?

Honestly, at this point, would that even destroy the class? I get that the cheaper hero power is kind of its gimmick but considering their cards are usually just better version than what other classes can do, would it even be that far off of a change to consider?

We have warlock getting weaker cards because their hero power is so good - so why not apply the reverse to Demon Hunter?

Seeing how every expansion cycle that class finds a way to be oppressive in its aggression, I just want to stop having to wish for nerfs on it.

Welcome to Liftoff! This is a full 147 card space-themed set that I worked on with several other people. It took 4 months to finish it, but we recently just did and I couldn't be more excited. This project was not started by me, but because I was the one on the team who's most familiar with the site, I'm in charge of the thread here for it. The reason for the larger number of cards than usual is also because we decided to use pre-DH rarity adjudications for Neutral cards.

Liftoff! introduces not one, but two new keywords! Those keywords are Launch and Observe.

Launch cards have a one-time effect that triggers when you initiate an attack with the card, but before the attack fully connects.

Observe cards take a look at 3 cards within a specified set of parameters, just like Discover. However, Observe is a bit different because all 3 cards you look at are all in your deck and the card you choose gets put on top of your deck.

Note: Soliana appears in your collection and will always start in her Sunlight form. She will transform into Moonlight form if you cast a spell while you hold her. When in Moonlight form, she will transform back into Sunlight form if you play a minion while you hold her.

Well, you've made it this far.

Vicious Syndicate put Highlander Priest in tier 4.  However, I played their featured list with only one card changed 21 times and won 18 of those, I faced a lot of aggro demon hunters and somehow won against all but one of them.  They didn't seem to make any misplays.  This deck also won against other decks labeled as tier 1 in vicious syndicate like pure paladin, evolve shaman, and highlander hunter.  This was in platinum, I haven't played standard for a long time, but since I was wild legend consistently probably my mmr would be high for standard as well.  So, overall, even if the deck isn't tier 1 I think that if people play a good version of Highlander priest and play it well it is definitely higher than tier 4 and may even be as high as tier 2.  

If you have played Highlander Priest in standard recently, or can try to play it to have a higher sample size so we can see if it's really underrated or not, or just have some thoughts please let me know because I usually play wild only but based on the vicious syndicate standard report I thought this might be interesting to people who want to play some other decks than demon hunter, shaman, paladin, and hunter.  Vicious syndicate puts Highlander Priest in tier 4 and calls the class a trash tier class with no good decks but please give it a chance, because I'm not even that familiar with the standard meta so someone who knew the opponent's decks better could have had an even higher record with this deck.  And most of all, out of all the standard decks I have tried to play so far this is by far the most fun and engaging deck to play, you plan ahead your turns and make decisions in a fun way, in my opinion at least.

This thread is an attempt to make basically a new game mode. Tired of Wild, Standard, BGs, and the very mediocre Duels? Here is a thread where you can meet people to add as friends and take turns playing whatever crazy concoction you've always wanted to.. but in reality just loses over and over. Pro tip: it doesn't versus itself : D. 

I'm out and about right now doing errands but if anyone is interested I'm game to play tonight.

I'm posting this on Out of Cards, since this is the most decent and civil Hearthstone-related forum right now, and opinions about controversial subjects like this will probably be kicked on the floor.

Hearthstone's new reward system has left the playerbase up in arms, since gold and experience became harder to get and are rewarded in smaller quantities, and the Battle Pass is a scam. Forcing people to pay up only to get less rewards than they were promised. I've seen people against it, and some defending it. But as for me, the reward system has not hindered my enjoyment of the game, mainly because I don't play for the rewards anyway. I usually play Hearthstone to try out cards and witness all sorts of crazy RNG. But even with the new system ruining things, there are enough alternatives to keep Hearthstone enjoyable. Card packs are more expensive? No problem, I've got enough cards in my collection and even have plenty of legendaries. Singleplayer isn't appealing anymore? No problem, there are lots of single-player adventures to keep me occupied. Dalaran Heist and Tombs of Terror in particular, since the RNG starting decks mean you can try out any card in the game, even for a moment, without having to spend currency on packs. And besides, even Hearthstone's current gameplay is disappointing there's always custom cards in Hearthcards and the Out of Cards fanmade content, so one can still dream.

Ever since the system was implemented, I've seen AFK farmers in Battlegrounds. They boot up Battlegrounds and do nothing all game because they'll just gain rewards anyway. One time I was in a Battlegrounds match (playing as Jaraxxus) in which EVERYONE ELSE was AFK. I just played the match normally and had fun building my warband and defeating my opponents one hit at a time. And upon winning that match, I had just learned an important life lesson. I started seeing this situation in a whole new perspective.

I realized that generosity was enough to keep Hearthstone satisfying for me. Playing for fun rather than rewards made me feel genuine satisfaction, because for me winning or at least having a worthwhile match was the reward I needed. Ask yourself this: Were you truly satisfied by Hearthstone's rewards before the new system? Why do you want rewards in Hearthstone anyway? And finally the biggest question: It's only a game, why you heff to be mad? Okay, just kidding. The main point is: greed begets greed. The temporary elatement from a materialistic desire to get rewards in a game, this is what many monetized games exploit in their consumers. (EA is a notable offender.) They know that players will pay them to get more cool content, and they will make more profit. Even if you complain about rewards being harder to work for, you're probably just playing Hearthstone only for the rewards anyway. I'm not trying to riff on the people whose hate towards the system is understandable, nor force my opinions on everyone. I'm just talking about my own experience with finding satisfaction with the game anyway without paying a dollar.

Besides, blaming "Blizzard" and having them not respond is kinda... yeah. The players' rage is directed at this hivemind of an evil corporate game development company who swindles them out of their money. (Just don't pay them...) But like all companies, Blizzard is composed of employees who make bad decisions, but are still human. Are we going to forget about the developers who have made Hearthstone a better place for everyone? Ben Brode, Hadidjah Chamberlin, Dave Kosak, John McIntyre, etc. Don't put them under the blanket blame since they've only made the game more entertaining. Look at all the stories that they've come up with: the League of Explorers, Rafaam and the League of EVIL, the Book of Heroes... do the rewards undermine all of the adventures and events that have turned Hearthstone into a world of its own?

Forgot to take a screenshot, but I added C'Thun, the Shattered to my deck, and got the Small Pouches treasure. It pulled C'Thun into my hand at the start of the game, and as a result his "start of game" effect never triggered - I just had him in hand.

What is your opinion of it? I tried it for about 4 hours today and i barely got 200 xp, maybe it was good when the system first came out and i heard rumbling of a stealth nerf to it. But personally i think it's a decent workaround for the system if you don't care about playing the game or your BGs ranking(i went from around 1.5k to zero doing this very quickly, which doesn't matter since i don't care about the ranking and it doesn't matter) I have two accounts, i have a phone i don't use it's pretty easy to do, and it helps people get their "finish in top 2 in BGs" quest which shouldn't even exist.

additional, new packs will come out, which means, one has to spend the earned gold midexpansion. 

This is far worse than i expected. I was originally on the optimistic side.

After reaching rank 8 i got this screen, i couldn't interact with it in any way that matters, i could move the slider and click the arrows but it didn't do anything from what i could tell. I was able to hit back to the main menu.

But i couldn't get rid of it at all.

The stupid garbage broken one you know what I mean. Gets huge and has rush. I attacked it with Turalyon and its stats didn't change because it starts off as a 3/3 and its buff still applied. Garbage. Fix your game retards.

Hi,

Just recieved a new Mac, 2019. When trying o install Hearthstone, the setup starts with "updating Battle.net." it almost finishes this first step and than get stuck. Yesterday it was stuck for an hour. 

I managed to go pass that stage only once, but than the installation itself got stuck. 

Any suggestions besides 'quite HS and play X'?  

I am 4 - 26 so far today and all I get are T1 decks and opponents with legendary card backs. How many times I have to loose until I get normal enemies?
