I play mostly casual, but play fairly well, so I play a lot of good players because of my MMR.  Out of the last five games I played, three of my opponents we running a legend card back.  That, in itself, isn't too unusual.  Like I said, i usually get matched up with experienced players.  But the unusual thing is that, in all three of the games against the people running legend card backs, each a different player, my opponent didn't play a card.  Sure, this happens occasionally, but three out of five games?

I was wondering if this could be due to bots.  When the new reward system came into effect, the first thing that I wondered was whether we would see bots playing games for XP.  Since you get XP for time played, a bot wouldn't really have to do anything besides just start a game, without even really having to play any cards, and then just start another game when the game is over.  With the New system, this would be a way of getting 150 levels of XP without doing anything at all.

I don't know if bots are an issue, or if they will become an issue, or how good Blizzard is at detecting them and imposing bans, but it makes me wonder.  I've never had so many people, even outside of those few games, just rope without playing a card.  I'm wondering about bots because I just can't see where someone would manually do this type of thing, since the time you would be wasting would be the same amount of time spent if you were actually playing, since XP rewards are based on time played rather than outcomes.

Apart from that, it's a little bit frustrating.  Like i said, you get the same XP per the amount of time spent playing the game, so I'd rather just be playing, instead of watching the rope turn after turn, especially since the win gives me nothing in particular.

I was sitting at D5 waiting for MDF to drop. Once it hit I tried a number of decks some just updated with a few of the new cards and some completely new creations using the new set. After quite a few runs and a lot of frustration I went back to the tried and true DH Soul Frag deck. The only card in this deck from the current expansion is the Bladed Lady which essentially took the place of the Glaivebound Adept. I also dropped the Wandmakers from the original list which ran just 1 Glaivebound Adept and 1 Consume Magic. I managed a 72% WR from D5 no stars to Legend in one run on the eve of the 30th (phew, cut it close).

Ever since Mindrender Illucia was revealed, I kept having the feeling that there is somekind of King Togwaggle combo I am missing here. I am probably not the only one.  

So, any ideas how these two cards can be played together to your advantage? Some major discounting will need to be happening here. 

Doing pretty good with this Quest Paladin with N'zoth and Y'shaarj.

"Wow, you're on that one still?" A direct quote from my 5 year old daughter after looking over my shoulder and seeing I was still on level 25.

Over the last 8 days I tracked my xp gained per game, which was annoying because they don't just tell you after the match what a single game is worth. I, unfortunately, didnt time said matches because... lazy, but longer games are worth more win or lose. 

Ranked standard: 64.5 avg xp per win, 48.2 avg xp per loss.

Casual standard is less, but I didn't play enough games to conclude how much. Looks like about 20 xp per game less. 

Tavern brawls look to reward about the same as casual games. 

Arena xp is about the sames as ranked, but again, not many games. 

I reroll every 800 xp daily. Over the 8 days I was offered 5 800s, one of which rerolled to a 1000. So I completed 4 1000s, and 4 800s.

I completed 4 achievements for 500 xp. 

Weeklys for 6000xp.

I think I earned 17753xp for the 8 days and went from level 21 to level 26.

I guess the ranked numbers are about the only thing worth much, and I tracked all this just so I know. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle! 

Also, I've been playing that jank to get the Yogg wheel achievement... 4/6 results and I still need to spin it to win a game. Yogg sucks. 

I recently made a thread about an oh my yogg interaction that would have won me the game from being played against my opponent on turn 7(it turned commencement into wisps of the old gods and somehow filled by board with 5/5s) but there have been other cases where it did complete chaos the card is bugged. Unless you want your opponent to win the game over this please don't play the card.

Many such cases. Do not play the card until blizzard decides to come back from being AFK and fix their game. but if you're playing against a paladin wait for a 7 mana spell to play against oh my yogg because it seems pretty common that you'll get wisps of the old gods and a board full of 5/5s

Anyone else tired of all the updates that are going lately?  I swear, dive Brodie left I am noticing more and more issues with every release in both nerfs and updates because of connection issues and bugs. 

I have been dropped from an unbelievable number of games in the past week and I can getting roped in my games because of reconnection. Has anyone else been experiencing this as well? What are you doing about it?

Can someone explain why i get a full board of 5/5s after oh my yogg turns my commencement into wisps of the old gods??

Hey Folks, the hysteria over the cost of the game is still going strong on Reddit and various other platforms. While I don’t think, that the battle pass itself is a major issue, I agree that the lack of transparency and the cost of the game in general is. 

I’m personally fine with paying around 300€ a year for the game I love and spend more time on than Netflix and Spotify combined. But the many discussions got me thinking about different ways for blizzard to make money with Hearthstone. So here, for discussions sake, a economy system proposition. 

A perfect economy would imo be, were F2P complete a set before the next expansions drops. People that spend money, get a head start that is larger or smaller, depending on the money invested. With 80€/$, you should definitely unlock 95% of an expansion right away. Extra resources, these players accumulate over the 3 following months, can be invested into cosmetics of all different sorts or content of older sets.

So far, so easy. But I guess the revenue for Blizzard would be to low since once you got a stock of Resources, you can get you head start for free every following expansion. My solution: Cards of the newest expansion aren’t purchasable with gold, nor are they craftable with dust from previous expansions. The newest expansion should have a completely separate economy. This obviously requires a VERY generous system that allows F2P players to accumulate a lot of cards on the first days-weeks. And as I said, at the end of an expansion everyone should have completed the set. This system would have a couple major advantages:

- F2P can keep up with the game (even though they miss out on the fun of week one - but that’s mostly the case already)

- The focus is brought back to “collectible” card game. You slowly complete your collection through the months and don’t just buy day 1 and start saving for the next expansion again.

- People don’t have the incentive to dust old and niche cards, that might become meta in the future or relevant in other game modes.

- People are more limited in what they can play. This one is bitter sweet, I know. But it could result in a much longer lasting variety and prevent the meta from settling down to quickly... on the cost of the first month being P2W. Witch is acceptable imo, since F2P should catch up rather quickly.

- New players can slowly catch up since they don’t need to collect cards of multiple sets simultaneously. After one year at most, they should be on par with everyone else.

- A separate economy for the newest set would allow blizzard to lower the price of older expansions by a lot since people can’t take advantage of that so easily and can’t convert purchased resources into new cards.

Tl;dr: Everyone gets a full collection over time but you have to pay to access the cards early on. The additional resources you accumulate over the course of an expansion can be invested into older expansions or cosmetics but not saved for future expansions.

Disclaimer: I haven’t taken the time to think this 100% through since I doubt it having any relevance. There are certainly some flaws with such a system that I didn’t think about. The current currencies would probably need a complete overhaul.

I was curious to know with all the hate directed at Blizzard right now if anyone else is feeling guilty for continuing to enjoy the game?

I'm in a constant state of 'oh god this game is too expensive' and 'I wish I could play x deck but can't due to not owning the right cards' while also really enjoying the decks I can craft.

Is it just me who constantly has this moral dilemma? Should I be this stressed about a game?

with november / december free packs it should be possible to have all common / rare without purchasing packs I assume ...

Just today I´ve realized during our Achivement hunt, that our 10%, 15% and 20% boost applies to these achievements too. Just now I´ve completed Tent out of Tent and got 230 XP (I have 15% bonus). So that makes me think that it´s a good idea to claim your XP for these achievements AFTER you reach LVL 35 where you get 20% XP boost to them. Not much, but still something. So right now I´m hoarding my 500 XP achievements without opening/claiming them, so I can collect more XP after LVL 35.

Sorry if this is a known thing, but maybe it helps those like me who didn´t have a clue :)

I just need one win to finish this damned quest.  I don't really play ladder and I can't find a list of the top decks on this site.

As the title says, it occurs to me, while i am having very much fun during the games of heroic duels, i'm getting no xp on reward track whatsoever.

For me, its a better mode than arena, you have bigger control over what your deck strategy would like to be, meanwhile you can achieve the same rewards. I think its easier to reach the minimum 4-5 wins per run, than arena, so one could say, it is more profitable mode. And much more exciting!

The cherry on the top would be that, while you having a good time, getting extra gold from the runs, you collecting that sweet experience, which is well desired to reach new reward track levels. But that on heroic duels mode just simply doesnt happen. I checked- playing battlegrounds and ranked counts instantly, even simple duel counts. However despite the fact i spent 2-3 hours dueling in heroic, i didnt get a singe xp.

What do you think? It is intentional, and its because you shouldnt get that many rewards from a single mode, or its clearly a bug, and players should be compensated?

There's been a lot of hate toward Blizzard in these past couple of weeks, which seems to have come to a head during the spamming of the recent Duels tournament with #StopBlizzardGreed. Some of the anger is very reasonable - there have been a lot of bugs in Hearthstone around these newly released systems, and Blizzard deserves to be blamed for releasing buggy products and has a responsibility to resolve any unfairness that has come from them (they've already promised to do so with respect to the recent quest bugs). But they've also made a ton of great changes to the game that no one seems to want to give them credit for.

So real quick, where is the hate coming from? Mostly it seems like it's coming from two places: the cost of Hearthstone generally, and the negative reaction to the new Progression system. Both stem from what I believe are bad-faith arguments:

• Hearthstone is often compared to AAA titles, with people complaining that buying into an expansion costs way more than a typical $60 game.
  • This is a ridiculous comparison - AAA titles don't get regularly patched, they don't generally feature weekly evens (i.e. tavern brawl) or seasonal events (e.g. the Felfire Festival). Developing these patches and the content for these events costs Blizzard money, so the base price is going to be higher.
  • CCGs and AAA titles are generally not even the same type of game. It makes much more sense to compare Hearthstone to other CCGs, and while it's not the cheapest CCG on the market, it's not the most expensive either (e.g. in MTG Arena you can easily spend $200 just building a single deck.
  • You don't have to buy a full set of expansion cards to play the game, so comparing a $60 sticker price for a AAA title to $130 for pre-release bundles is disingenuous.
• People were furious when the amount of gold they'd be getting went down, and have complained about lacking a sense of progression because the new system slows as you get higher up in levels
  • The overall rewards between new and old progression system never favored the old system - it's simply that many of the new rewards were in the form of packs and cards, which angry players valued less than gold. Blizzard responded to this by replacing the late-level packs with gold, and now it's very easy to have a F2P experience where you complete daily and weekly quests and get strictly more out of the game on all reward dimensions.
  • The "lack of progress" complaints must be coming from people who have never played an RPG, because all of those games feature slower levels as you progress, and no one gets mad about it. It's true that there will be some weeks in the new system where the weekly rewards you earn are lower than what you would have earned in the old system, but you early more on a weekly basis early and late in the system, so that lull only lasts for about 10 or so levels in the middle.

It's easy to focus on the cost of the game right after an expansion, or to be mad about a system right when it releases, but those arguments are short-sighted. Blizzard has done a lot of good stuff with Hearthstone this year:

• Back in November 2019 they changed a bunch of daily quests to make them easier to complete (e.g. "Win 2 games as [Class A] or [Class B]" became "Play 3 games as [Class A] or [Class B] or [Class C]"). The old quests penalized you for the bad luck of getting meta losers in your quests, while the new quests are trivial to complete.
• In phase 1 of Year of the Phoenix, they added duplicate protection for all rarities, making it way cheaper to collect all the common and rare cards. This makes it much easier for F2P players to create a wide array of budget decks.
• The new ranked system has better rewards than the old ranked system, added a ton of ranked floors, and dramatically decreases the amount of grinding you need to do. This frees players up to play low-tier or off-meta decks without risking major ladder progress
• They've added several F2P-friendly formats (Battlegrounds, Duels), and will be adding another new mode before the end of the Year of the Phoenix
• The new progression system switched away from rewarding gold for wins to rewarding XP for playing, which further incentivizes people to play low-tier or off-meta decks if that's what they want to do because losing a game doesn't mean getting nothing out of the game.

The net result of these changes is that players have more opportunities to be rewarded for playing Hearthstone the way they find most fun. Despite the bugs, and the fact that Hearthstone is not the cheapest CCG on the market, I think it's plainly the case that the long view of what Blizzard has been doing with Hearthstone has been very positive.

Today I started hearthstone and got a free golden legendary as a reward for the 40$ darmoon fair bundle. I think they are trying to keep player by offering them cards. I did buy the 40$ bundle but no golden was included.

Did someone also got a free legendary?
