Gul'dAnduin Activates the Obelisk
- Quest Priest
- Wild
- Fun
Anduin has decided he wants to cosplay as the Warlock Gul'dan and use Self-Harming tactics to really sell the act.
Historically my attempts to make a tempo priest deck that included the Uldum quest Activate the Obelisk have fallen flat on their face, however, some of the new Priest-Warlock dual-class cards have given me an idea to revisit the quest with. Being damaged enough to consistently be able to restore 15 health without having to heal the opponent has been the main obstacle for getting Activate the Obelisk to work in my experience and then it hit me...
Why not run the quest in a suicide priest!
With the new cards Flesh Giant and Brittlebone Destroyer actively encouraging you to hurt and heal yourself I began looking for ways to damage yourself as a Priest. The new 0 mana card Raise Dead was a start and then I remembered that priest has actually received self-harming cards in the past Shadowbomber and Spawn of Shadows. Add in a few well stated neutral 1-drops that damage yourself and curve into Power Word: Feast and you have the start of a suicide priest on your hands.
Soulbound Ashtongue and Spawn of Shadows also have a cheeky interaction with Apotheosis where the Lifesteal will effectively negate the damage they do to your hero while also reducing the cost of Flesh Giant by 2 whenever they trigger.
After playing around with the deck for a bit today I've found that Soulbound Ashtongue + Apotheosis is ridiculously good. Against board based decks I've completed the quest as early as Turn 3 with a Lifesteal Ashtongue! Who needs Frazzled Freshman.

It is decks like this that REALLY make me want to just squander the dust to make the damned Reliquary of Souls
Genius! Link copied and on my way to enjoy Preilock shenanigans.
Interesting idea, but too slow for the current meta... That or needs a better guide. Lost 4 out of 5. The one that I did win was against another super slow deck.
