Golden Chicken Wings

INTRODUCTION

Welcome! I'm Esparanta, a passionate Wild player who loves to explore the limits of Highlander decks. This time, I will explain how to play with golden chicken wings.

GAMEPLAY

"March of The Lich King" expansion, and its upcoming mini-set called "Return to Naxxramas", blessed Dragon Paladin archetype more than I could have ever asked for. Reasons are explained below:

• Anachronos can be interpreted as alternative Psychic Scream. You can try to make a comeback.
• Timewarden was buffed from 4-Mana to 3-Mana.
• Flight of the Bronze allows you to get an extra Dragon.
• You can contest the board with both Daring Drake and upcoming card called Goldwing.

So, how we are going to win, you may ask? With more value and taking control of the board. Let's see how, shall we?

1. Value: Although said expansion and mini-set grants you some backup, it won't be enough. You need more to exhaust your opponent, and fortunately, you have more than you could imagine...
   
   • In addition to Flight of the Bronze, cards such as Amalgam of the Deep/Netherspite Historian/Bronze Explorer will give you more Dragons. You can play these cards alongside Brann Bronzebeard for good results.
   • Even better, since this deck is based on Highlander archetypes, you can activate Dragonqueen Alexstrasza to get two additional Dragons for free. What's more, you can play another one with Dragon Breeder and/or Zola the Gorgon provided that you had already applied discounts with Emperor Thaurissan and/or Dragon Consort. Dragonqueen Alexstrasza is your trump card, so utilize her wisely.
   • You can search for more value with other cards, too. Dispossessed Soul can look for Dragonqueen Alexstrasza if you're lucky and Body Wrapper can bring her back to life albeit into your deck for the future development.
   • Barista Lynchen is very good in this deck because all but 5 minions are Battlecry ones. Still, better than nothing.
   • Getaway Kodo lets you return a minion back to your hand. It's good if triggered while Dragonqueen Alexstrasza is on the field but it's alright with Bone Drake as well.
2. Control: Golden Dragons are in a rush to contest the board but that doesn't mean it's the only way to do so. You have other tricks up your sleeve as well...
   • After you've played Equality or Lord Barov, you can clear your opponent's board with City Tax/Spammy Arcanist/Consecration.
   • You can think of Enter the Coliseum as an alternative to Brawl. Still, better than nothing.
   • Blademaster Okani can put a blockade against your opponent and Amber Whelp can shot a minion to death.
   • Lightforged Cariel is here to put up a barricade and beef up your minions.
   • Drawing cards are as important as contesting the board. Fortunately, you have a handful of tools doing the exact task while also keeping you top-shaped. For example, Knight of Anointment can fetch Vitality Surge and Flash of Light. Hold the Bridge/Amber Watcher/Reno Jackson are here to look after you while searching for resources with Alliance Bannerman/Famished Fool/Redscale Dragontamer.

CARD SUGGESTIONS

As always, I'm here to rescue you, in case you are low on dust. Thankfully, you don't have to have expensive cards to force a deck to be viable in Wild, even cheaper alternatives such as these below will do the job...

• Lightforged Cariel: She's solid on her own but do you have to spend 1600 dust? Not really. There are two options you can pick up...
  • For better board control, Libram of Justice can serve you well.
  • While still on Core set, Sir Finley Mrrgglton can be a good and free legendary candidate since your initial Hero Power doesn't help you much with board control. However, if you have it, I strongly advise you to get Sir Finley of the Sands because it's far more better.
• Lord Barov: Your second Equality with a Whirlwind attached to 3/2 body. He's a very good card and can also be used in Warrior decks. However, if you don't have 1600 dust to spare, you can put Shrink Ray instead.
• Barista Lynchen: Well, value is everything in this deck and so is she here. You can swap her with anything to be honest. Maybe Eater of Secrets if you had it enough with Secret Mages?
• Emperor Thaurissan: You should have him if you have bought Blackrock Mountain adventure set. If not, or you don't want to spend dust for him, any card will do. Onyxian Warder can help you winning the board and he's a Dragon, allowing Dragon-related activator cards to be useful such as Netherspite Historian.
• Zephrys the Great: Staple for Highlander decks. If you can't craft him, any card will do. I can think of Armor Vendor if you favor more of your face over anything else.

As for other legendary cards I didn't mention, you have to spend dust for them because they are must-have for this deck to be consistent, save for freebie legendaries such as Prince Renathal+Blademaster Okani and ones from Core set. I may have saved 8000 dust from your pocket not to be wasted but you still need to use 3200 dust to craft only two legendaries, which are Anachronos and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza.
