It might've slipped under our radar that previous sunny month (oops, forgive us, o' mighty speed dragon gods) as we were still busy exploring everything new the grand city of Stormwind had to offer - but now we are back once more spreading the word of appreciation in the name of this beautiful bronze dragon. Let's have an appropriately swift celebration, for Nozdormu Day is upon us!
Could You Hurry It Up, Please
If you wish to take part in Nozdormu Day, you're in luck because all players can do so for free (the card is part of the Core set):
- As long as you have one quest slot open come server reset in your region on the 15th of each month, the Nozdormu quest will replace your regular quest of the day. It grants a lot more bonus XP, making it a worthwhile pursuit!
- This quest can also be rerolled away for a typical lesser one, if you really can't stand it. But Nozdormu will be very sad.
- In order to be eligible, simply remove a card from one of your favorite decks and replace it with Nozdormu the Eternal.
- Queue up for a game with your 'new' deck, in a relevant game mode of choice.
- Hopefully encounter another player with Nozdormu in their deck and have fun playing speedstone!
We're recommending that you play decks that aren't reliant on long combos or multiple actions in general. Using minions with basic effects or casting simple spells will do you wonders with maximizing your 15-second turn time. Though, the better you are at adapting to the short periods of thinking, the more mileage you could get out of more 'complicated' decks. But there is still no getting around actual animation times.
You may want to pick the Casual mode to not only prevent any potential Ranked losses, but to also increase your chances of finding an opponent with Nozdormu the Eternal on the other side of the mirror. It's no fun without a suitable swift partner! Or you could join our cast of the brave and the reckless and keep trying your luck on the actual Standard or Wild ladder. Time efficiency and two birds with one stone - Noz would be proud.
Why is the 15th of Each Month Nozdormu Day?
The 15th of each month is Nozdormu Day because it is a reference to the 15 seconds that each player has to take their turn when Nozdormu is present in both decks.
It comes with the official PlayHearthstone's blessing.
Nozdormu Day Decks for September 2021
We've put together a few Standard decks that may be handy if you are trying to complete the quest while actually attempting to get ahead on ladder or elsewhere. But our dear Nozdormu the Eternal remains very flexible and will fit anywhere you want it to!
We've had this special Noz quest for bonus XP for a couple of months now. Do you keep taking part in either Casual or Ranked every 15th day of the month? Have any deck that is most suitable to be graced by Nozdormu the Eternal? Let us know in the comments if you have managed to queue into any fellow Nozdormu followers!

Had one match against a QL warrior in wild while I was doing the spam caller achievement. Should've taken out the DH quest though coz damn there's not a lot of time to draw all those cards when you on the clock. Needless to say I got rekt ofc. That QL warrior in wild is bonkers
It really is. I played it too and it's sometimes ridiculous. I'm a Gold/Platinum player and faced a Control Priest with Legend cardback. I thought I'll lose this becaused they can outheal me. Even had Patches on starting hand. So I emoted "well played" when playing Patches to signal that I've already accepted my defeat. But I won... They probably thought I was overconfidentely BMimg..
Played like 7 matches yesterday, NOT ONE opponent had Nozdormu! I was placing it on the field and pathetically greeting the opponents while highlighting the minion.. xD
Played 3 matches with Alura Shard quest priest. 2/3 matches were Noz matches (both had Noz) which was surprising. (Played on Ranked Standard Ladder). I run a slightly modified version of the deck with Mutanus, so I just swapped him out with Noz (since both are 7 drops) and it worked well enough. (2 wins, 1 loss. Neither win was from shard though, just pure tempo.)
Whipped out my Wild Highlander Menagerie Warrior for this one, and ventured into Casual:
1 out of 3 ain't bad, all things considered.
I have yet to manage a real Nozdormu match (set one up with a friend once), despite trying it out every 15th day of the month. I guess people don't play to have fun?
Hmm, that's pretty unlucky. I always just play with Noz on Standard ladder (usually at least in Gold/Platinum ranks halfway into the month), and usually get at least 1 hit within 3 games, sometimes even 2.
3 out of 3 in Casual for me. I played "Quest" WL but swapped Quest for Noz, so that I'll die quickly.
1st Opp: normal Quest WL, but I lost later then expected.
2nd Opp: Warrior, tried to do the same as I and skipped every turn. I didn't have any self damage cards so I decided to play Windfury Giants and I won.
3rd Opp: Face Hunter, the dream matchup.
I get at least 2 out of 3 every time even though I hate it.
If it were actually fun, wouldn't more people do it all the time, not just when quests tell them to?
The problem is people don't play to have fun, they play to win, because lose = unfun to 95% of the population
Ninety-five percent you say? That comes across as random trumpy statistics. Probably fake news I'm posting, though.
That's a bit self-contradictory. If losing is not fun and people are playing to win, then they ARE playing to have fun.
A != C & B != C does not mean A = B
3 is not 5
4 is also not 5
that does not mean 3 is 4
A lot of people will play the same braindead uninteractive deck if given the chance, forever, because it gets results, not because its fun to win with it. They value their ego and their rank more than they value being a good sport.
LOL, I would not show this thread to your logic teacher. These are not binary states, so pure deductive reasoning doesn't apply. "Fun" is a spectrum; some things are more fun than others, but nothing can be classified as purely "fun" or "not fun." If losing is less fun than winning, then people play to win because it is more fun to them than playing for some other reason. "Being a good sport" has absolutely nothing to do with anything in your original statement.
I think what you meant to say was, "People don't play in a way that matches MY idea of fun."
I simply do not understand how playing the same flowchart every day for months in a row can be fun, and contrary to your belief, there is a world where winning can be less fun than losing.
Unfortunately, playing against the same 3 flowchart isn't really fun either
Agreed. There's far too many people who treat ladder like it's an Innvitational league. I'm not saying people can't play seriously, I'm just saying that for what games are supposed to elicit (fun), it seems like an awfully lot of people are chasing the carrot on the stick (ranking up), instead of enjoying the ride (the game)
So you're absolutely certain that gaining ranks is not more pleasurable than taking 20-second turns to any person in the world?
I hate to break it to you, but all it takes is one counterexample, and I'm happy to be the one.
zero people mentioned 20 second turns
This entire page is about Nozdormu Day. If you're not talking about 20-second turns, you're in the wrong place.
Ah fair point, I forgot where this conversation started as it has been dayts, let me try that again.
My rank means nothing to me. I play ranked because maybe I'll get a reward, and I'm pretty much required to for quest xp, but the thing is, I don't care about my rank, "number go up" isn't enough to be fun to me
