What got you into Wild?

Just wandering why do other people play this format is it because you wanted to try an old deck, found a cool combo, or just started playing as soon as it was released.
For me I started playing Wild during KoTF when the free Death Knight I got was Scourgelord Garrosh and decided to play a Grim Patron deck.

For me I started playing Wild during KoTF when the free Death Knight I got was Scourgelord Garrosh and decided to play a Grim Patron deck.
The fact that the archetypes i want to build/customize/play are not bound to Rotation restrictions.
Surely the meta is still an overarching selective factor, but at least i can adjust for that in some way, while if i am deprived of some given key cards for an archetype, i can't play that archetype at all.
In other words, i can stand the judgement of the meta, but i can't stand the devs deciding which decks are available.
Also, the fact that a dust investment stays forever, without shrinking to 1/4 of its original value.
Hit Legend in Standard and wondered if I could do it in Wild.
Laddering in Wild made me remember how much fun it is to queue against a class and not know what every card in there deck is based on their first turn. Sure you have Big Priest and Odd Rogue but I'm playing a ton of decks I've never seen before and it's great fun. Currently at Rank 4.
I had to start in wild when I returned to Hearthstone at the release of One Night in Karazhan.
I first played the game for a month or so when Naxx was released. All I had was the Naxx set and a few classic cards.
Didn't play standard till like four or five months later (Gadgetzan era).
It was ugly at times, but I had fun with janky budget control priest builds. For the most part I earned my gold priest before Shadowreaper Anduin changed things.
Wild sees less aggro (the few you do encounter are hyper-level) but you have to expect BS over-the-top combos or set-ups, or under the gun to beat an obvious OTK (btw, for all those crying about Big Priest, it's no longer the top dog of wild; Quest Cyclone Mage is the new big bad deck).
Standard ... gets boring. Aggro, aggro, aggro, hunter, hunter, hunter, conjurer's calling mage ...
Well, I just never left. When standard was introduced, I decided that I liked playing with all cards. It's the same with magic, I never really got into standard there either.

Because two metas to choose from are better than one. Plus wild usually has more viable/high tier decks to choose from.
This. Once I hit that goal, standard felt stale. My problem is that I previously have been 100% sure to never play wild and therefore dusted all my wild cards. I'm an idiot, I know.
The plan is to craft Kovachuts priest deck and one or two cheap aggro decks (probably mech hunter and/or murloc shaman). I will probably play both standard and wild for a time but slowly switch to main wild.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

I wanted to create a deck without restriction, and Wild has all the cards. You also see homebrew decks a lot in Wild. Overall, it's a fun and different experience from Standard. And you can have both!

Why should I limit myself when building a deck?
Also there is much more variety in Wild, while Standard has alwasy been dominated by 2-3 top tier decks each time. In a game where you play tons of match having not to know exactly what your opponent is playing just by their class is a big improvement.

I got into wild when I realized that Mechwarper was a card. During the Boomsday expansion, it occurred to me that Galvanizer would stack with it and it led me to hitting Rank 4 with Mech Hunter. I had previously never been higher than rank 20. Consistent turn 4 lethal damage, it was nuts.
I had started playing when the Witchwood xpac came out. Playing in wild definitely teaches you more about the game. You see some crazy combos.
I started playing wild immediately as soon the as the split happened. A couple reasons kept me playing wild early on (and still playing) and that was 1) I like the idea of 'owning' my cards instead of constantly throwing them away not that long down the road and 2) I enjoy combos and OTKs (especially meme ones) instead of following the same scripted standard metas where control and aggro play out almost exactly the same way that they always do.
I left the game soon after the release of The Grand Tournament, and I returned just as Journey to Un'Goro came out. By then, my GvG and TGT cards had fallen into Wild, and I had missed all of the Adventures. I had the money, so I bought each of the Adventures and dove headfirst into Wild content.
Nowadays, I love Wild because that's where all of my favorite cards are. Chillmaw, Frost Lich Jaina, C'Thun, Fire Plume's Heart, Rhok'delar; all sorts of fun stuff is locked away in the past. If we could just buy Wild packs with gold, I would be a happy camper.
I was pretty miffed when Blizzard announced the standard/wild split not long after I crafted the original Dr. Boom. I "had" to play wild to justify that investment. I didn't even like Dr. Boom all that much; I only crafted it because I was sick of always being on the receiving end of that card.
In the beginning I split my time between the two formats. These days I play almost exclusively wild for the crazy combos, and I have no use for Dr. Boom.
Going off-topic here: I still think we should have been compensated in some fashion for the split, given that wild is still mostly treated as an afterthought.
I’ve just taken the leap into Wild and I’m really enjoying it so far.
I got a little bored of playing as and against the same decks over and over again in standard so thought I’d give it a go. There is way more variety of decks which has made using off meta decks viable which for me is a lot more fu. I also feel like there’s a good standard of play throughout so far. Looking forward to grinding up to higher ranks next season as I only started 5 days ago!
Quick question for the more experienced wild players out there do I get a season chest for wild too or is that too much to ask!?
I was wondering how Standard decks would fare against Wild decks so i ventured into Wild with a couple of decks and enjoyed the experience, even though I didn't get high up on the ladder. Since i didn't get to experience a lot of the older cards, I made a Thief Priest deck so I could play with some of them. I quite enjoy Wild, despite the broken decks on the ladder

Wild is generally fun to play IMO. More choices in the collection, and more crazy stuffs over there :-)

Played the game during Beta but left the game for a couple of years or so. My card collection is unsuitable for Standard but I can use all my older cards in Wild. And no, I don't want to dust all my old cards.
Thanks for letting me know. Next question in conjunction to this; if Wild is my higher ranks is there a chance of getting gold cards from older sets
Being a f2p cause when u have most cards u basically cant be screwed by a new exp cause they dont impact much on wild meta. 1 or 2 additiona per tier 2 and 1 deck and thats it.

had a nice deck in standard that lacked a bit and did see it´s easy to make it wild with 2-3 rare and 2 epic to craft. Had not much wild cards and disenchanted a lot but had important pieces left like N'zot. Made it and shot me from 25-4 in a month with it .... I did not disenchant good cards (especially from main classes) and realy like the possible diversity. Just when going R4 and better a lot of my decks go to 50% winrate and thus stuck constantly meeting T1 decks.

For me it's the freedom to build anything I can image, and the fact that you can play some non meta deck and still being strong.
I dont normally play wild but this exp missed playing warlock and priest
For me, it is the ability to access the each archetype's full potential. For eg, the upcoming set has a lot of Taunt support for Warriors and that Taunt synergy can be best seen with Quest Warrior and other Wild Taunts. I hope that answers your question.

On the bright side I'm a Wild convert for the foreseeable future.
I have been playing HS since Curse of Naxxramus and i’ve Climbed my way up to the higher ranks of Standard. (Rank 5-Legend) Once you get to rank 5 and above, you start running into a lot of the same decks that are copy and pasted. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it can get a bit boring and perhaps a bit predictable.
To change the monotony of the game I decided to dive into wild where the only limit is the amount of cards you can put into the deck! There are are hundreds of different archetypes that you wouldn’t even see in Standard! Sure you have some of the people who play Big EZ priest and odd Paladin but there are many others trying neat ideas that inspire me to play them.
To summarize, I play wild for 2 Reasons: 1. A nice change of Pace with a bit more Variety. 2. The Suprise factor of “What kind of deck is my Opponent playing?” The second Reason comes up more than people realize. As an example If you queue into standard ranked and was Matched up with a Warrior you would only assume that it could either be Bomb warrior or Control. In wild you wouldn’t know if you wouldn’t know if you would go from Taunt warrior to Patron Warrior to even Pirate warrior! Wild makes the cogs in my head start turning and it has become an enjoyable experience against any class
Sometimes it's easy quest completion. Other times it's that I find farming wins easier with wild decks for certain classes. For instance I made the goal to try and get golden shaman before the next expansion. Since I had a very strong control deck I could get wins, but not quickly. I swapped over to wild and pounded through wins with murloc farming in no time. I could win 3-4 games in wild before 1 with my control deck in standard.
This will sound weird but I come back for Forge of Souls. After one of those "Play x weapons", I tested some weapon based warrior, and even that it wasn't the most competitive It was fun (even reach rank 10 so not that bad).
I still play more standard, but this make me feel like there is some space for fun decks in Wild.

For me it was the urge to jam some Murloc Shaman at the start of Ungoro.
I had a blast just hurting people with Everyfin is Awesome and Old Murk-Eye. It was quite a fun meta to be in, until (broken record alert) Big Priest showed up and effectively killed most control strategies.
I dont like being restricted by time and it has the cards I love that rotated out
Mo mo money, didn't want to spend more money to get a a full set of each expansion on launch, and I have a nice wild collection (all adventures playing since blackrock and dusting only duplicates, after nerfs and after each year rotation) because my main attraction to the game was collection cards and playing dumb fun decks.
I got into wild when I experienced my first rotation with Un'goro. I had spent time collecting cards from sets like Gold Gods and MSoG, and wasn't about to just stop playing with them. Wild was the way to do that.

I've been playing Wild since Ungoro, because I missed my Reno decks and my Aviana-Kun-Malygos Druid that rotated out.
So, do you like overpowered and super annoying decks that require no thinking at all? Seriously, bro? :/ Why??? (Honest question here)
