Demon Mage incoming..
i'm holding out hope that this has a spot in wild reno mage with n'zoth. it's a solid 2 drop that synergizes with Shooting Star and the prime half has a good chance of clearing your opponent's board and refilling your hand
waiting for the "draw prime from your deck" neutral legendary.
it is in the set - 100%
Here's a list of all the possible outcomes in standard, might update to include wild later. Also, I haven't added any new mage spells to this.
Edit: One last thing before going into the list. While the card does say it will prioritize targeting enemies over our minions, if a spell gets chosen and has no targets that the enemy controls, such as a creature for Polymorph, I assumed it would target a minion that you control. This might not be the case, maybe it just won't cast those spells if the enemy has no targets for the spell. That being said, I'm staying with this way as it makes the most sense to me.
Good, 15/30 for a 50% chance.: Power of Creation, Flamestrike, Blizzard, Pyroblast, Fireball, Arcane Intellect, Counterspell, Flame Ward, Frost Nova, Ice Barrier, Mirror Entity, Spellbender, Vaporize, Frostbolt, Tome of Intellect.
Can kill your Own stuff/Super big low rolls (aka Conjurer's Calling), 6/30 for a 20% chance: Rolling Fireball, Cone of Cold, Conjurer's Calling, Polymorph, Icicle, Arcane Breath,
Low Impact, 7/30 for a 23% chance: Arcane Missiles, Learn Draconic, Magic Trick, Mirror Image, Ancient Mysteries,Arcane Explosion, Ray of Frost,
Bad, 1/30 for a 3% chance: Elemental Allies
Yogg Box, 1/30 for a 3% chance.: Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron
Overall this card looks pretty decent. There are some really fun low roll shenanigans that can happen, but a lot of the time it is just going to either burn the opponents for a bit of damage, play some cards that aren't really going to impact the game that much and damage, possibly kill, the opponent's board. My only concern about this card is that it's painfully slow, though that fits in with the current highlander control mage they have been pushing for the last couple of sets.
Did you miss the part where it can't target your own stuff? There are no Mage spells that can't target enemies that would be bad, so there's really no downside. At worst you get a "probably nothing" roll like Elemental Allies or Ancient Mysteries.
There's the whole "If Possible" part, which I took as "Target enemies if there is a legal target". This means that spells like Polymorph or Rolling Fireball will have to target your own creatures if the opponent does not have a board state. I'll try to clear that up in the original post.
Yeah, I get that, but that is something you as the player of the card control. Obviously you don't play this when you have a full board and your opponent has nothing. Just like Puzzle Box and Yogg before it, you use it as board recovery. Except, unlike them, it is not such a high-risk play, and more of just a reliable boost to your tempo.
Its labeled 'target enemies if possible' so theoretically it can still target your own stuff.
These are stuff that only team5 can explain. Its not really intuitve as to what exactly 'if possible' means in this context.
It prioritizes enemies. It can only target your minions if your opponent has no minions and the casted spell can only target minions.
5 random mage spells that are in your favour is typically good enough to see play. I wonder how this works though. The wording is vague enough, does it mean that it has an even chance of casting an offensive spell like Frostbolt as with a value spell like Arcane Intellect? And what about beneficial spells like Molten Reflection, will it cast it on the enemy as well?
At least the RNG is reduced, with it being only mage spells, and that it targets enemies (if possible) so there's a chance for it to go double Pyroblast and Fireball to the face.
Maybe the best comparison is with the Reno from Galakrond's awakening's hero power.
I imagine it pulls from the full suite of Mage spells available. Also, Arcane Intellect doesn't target and Molten Reflection can only target friendly minions, so neither of those will work against you.
I think it can't cast Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron like the puzzle box can't cast itself.
Seems overly positive as long as there aren't any more mage spells that have no target or can screw you up.
The Amazing Reno can cast the Box, so I don't see why this wouldn't be able to.
Yogg can cast puzzle box, I'm sure this will be able to as well.
Maybe yogg can, but puzzle box can't:

It casting puzzlebox is not always a net positive which is the aim of this card.. so I assume there is no chance to cast box on this card it's an assumption though.
why wouldn't it be able to cast Puzzle Box?
The box is coded to not cast the box I think it's reasonable to think this card is also coded to do so.
the box is casted that way to prevent loops (since every Box cast by Box would have a chance to cast Box itself)
In this case it's really just another spell and the whole "target enemies only" won't apply to the box anyways so I don#t see a problem
The only reason I could come up with that would exclude Box is that the standard spell pool is so small that casting Box would happen too often and kind of ruin the card because of it (going from reasonable RNG to complete randomness)
Either way, we'll see how it ends up.
That's a big enough reason to exclude it, and the spell pool is shrinking, it casting the box is a RNG fiesta.
IDK why I got downvoted so much do people want the card to cast the box? I mean.. I don't play mage (mainly cause the only good mage deck uses 10 legendaries I don't have), so it doesn't affects me as a player but..
This card says it will only target enemies if able, most spells in mage are positive to the player if they hit the enemy but the box makes it so it's not always a net positive, so it not casting the box is a benefit to the player of the card some of the time(sometimes the box is better cause you really need to escape with a game you have no business winning).
It not casting the box is good for the players of this card, cause it would be more consistant in destroying the enemy board (or at least freezing it) casting a few secrets and doing some burn damage to their face.
This card is very good.
I can't think of a mage deck that wouldn't run this card in standard right now.
What i like of this card is the "target enemies if possible" as most of the mage spells have negative effects on the minions it target, the aoe are enemy only and the other kind of spell are secrets or spawn some minion or draw you cards; this means that the spells will generally be beneficial for you.
What i don't like is that even if the spell are good for the player that plays this card and negative for the opponent, the variance of this battlecry is too high, it can win you the game or do almost nothing (and spending 7 mana for a 7/7 that does nothing lose you the game). I think a good variance on RNG is the 1/5 rogue card revealed earlier.
Anothet thing i don't like about this card is that seems an autoinclude, but i can be wrong there
