- The only thing I'm sure about is Dragons and a new lackey that is probably Drakonid or Draconic Lackey and might have a " if you are holding a dragon" synergy.
- I don't think those two cards represent the keyword. It represent probably the sides, The Light bleeds are Golden and Purple and the lights are changing sides occasionally. She is constantly changing cards to predict to future correctly but all cards are same and changing lights so she can't decide what will really happen.
- My personal thought is that Dragon Aspects are coming, because LoE just saved the Uldum and didn't tried to get Dalaran back. Here, I wonder what happened to Kalecgos, Khadgar, Rhyssa, Nozari, Vereesa and Stelladris. They just fled or captured by E.V.I.L. ? I really think that; Alexstrasza for Hunter Ysera for Druid Malygos for Mage Nozdormu for Paladin will come to fight with Deathwing.
Because Rafaam is just a Ethereal Thief who wants to exchange Dalaran with something precious. He made Togwaggle the King. So Togwaggle is just a servant of Rafaam, didn't have any plans. Dr. Boom only wanted wisdom of the Dalaran for his experiments in Booms Lab. Hagatha has just sided with them like Dr. Boom because of wisdom and she sided with E.V.I.L because the enemy of my enemy is my ally but Lazul is different. She is a servant of Old Gods so the key character here is her. The Lore might shape like this;
She learned that Rafaam will steal the Dalaran and will want to exchange it with something precious with her visions so she had found Rafaam and offered him that The most Precious thing in exchange should only be given by old gods so they are bringing Dalaran to Deathwing because all of the Old gods are imprisoned. The ultimate plan will be Lazul's in my opinion, not Rafaam's. Rafaam is just want to sell Dalaran. He is an ethereal and he only wants trade.
So in light of all these, Dragon Aspects will not want Old Gods have Dalaran and fight with them to save it unlike LoE. LoE just wanted to save Uldum, not Dalaran.
- There is also a great opportunity to bind lores together like how Malygos got mad and fight with all Azeroth for defending that " Mortals should not use magic.". The changing lights of Lazul's cards make me think about how Malygos changed sides and also the lights are golden and purple. It might be also about Nozdormu and Murozond.
These are only my personal speculations. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So as you can see, There are great opportunities and so much possibilities. I hope Team 5 used those opportunities and make a wonderful lore-related expansion.
For the cards and our experience, I really only can say about Dragons and Draconic Lackey. I don't think there will be a "choose one"-like mechanic. And I'm %50 sure of new Nozdormu, Ysera, Malygos and Alexstrasza. They greatly fit the theme of Paladin, Druid, Mage and Hunter.
Are you denying my existence? No one plays for the lore? I think I've made it rather clear during my time on this site that it's half the reason I DO play this game, lol. Yes, they take artistic liberties with the lore, but each one is spun as a tall tale around important locations, events, or groups from the lore. Also, you didn't touch on my other mention of the art. Art is often a matter of personal taste, and I find the atmosphere created by the Hearthstone art style to be fun and colorful. By contrast, the art depicted in this article looks dull and bland to me. I repeat the fact that these are my personal reasons and views and I understand that many don't share them, but I consider them to be perfectly valid in themselves and wish for them to be treated as such.
You already said that art is a personal taste, That's why i didn't touch that topic. For me for example, I prefer MTG's art %100 of times. Same with Elder Scrolls: Legends but you are right about that art is an important part to decide playing some card games. That's why i didn't even try Shadowverse, Eternal, Mythguard etc. because of their card arts and UI designs.
For the lore, I've started Hearthstone because of Warcraft Lore no doubt. I remember how I was excited when they announce and how I waited for beta invite but Hearthstone is just a game which uses Warcraft Universe, There is no other connections with the game anymore.
Lorewise, I only loved Naxxramas, Blackrock Mountain and TGT. All of other expansions were bad for lore imo. KotFT for example. There is no such thing as Frost Lich Jaina for example. If you do that for a MOBA cosmetic, it is always ok like this;
But giving new powers to the hero and change it for a card game was ridiculous for my taste of lore. Same with all other Death Knights. You can always bring something new but you should do that without changing the lore. They should have been added new characters as Death Knights, shouldn't have changed well-known characters.
I am not denying your existence, That was just an exaggeration to make myself understood. I am also playing and started this game for the lore but I realized long ago that Hearthstone stopped being lore-friendly. I've waited them so long to make a Burning Crusade related expansion, New classes like Warcraft has, Well-known characters from the game but everytime I waited so long, They brought Aya Blackpaw or Hagatha the Witch or King Togwaggle to the game.
What Blizzard has done and still doing is is disappointing for their own royal players. Did you check 1000 win rewards ? They are laziest stuff of Hearthstone. That really describes and proves that what I'm saying here. Blizzard doesn't really care older and royal players, They always care potential of new players. They really think like they already earned us and people keeps buying from Blizzard even they do mistakes so that causes Blizzard care older player lesser because even they do whatever they like, People are still buying.
It's not a boycott call, don't get me wrong but I left paying Blizzard long ago because of their game-related actions. They changed and ruined every game I love and grown up with.
as far as i know (I left playing LoL 2-3 years ago) pirate champions like Miss Fortune, Gankplank and champions related with sea like Fizz are from Bilgewater. What I mean is it is a well-known region. They will probably release that region earlier because the champions that I mentioned are so popular ones.
I honestly hope LoR is successful just because it will force Blizzard to put more effort into some of the major issues with HS. They have improved greatly in 2019, but there is still plenty of issues that still need addressing. Competition is good, but I'm not going to keep my hopes up, because we've been down this road before.
This. Many card games can easylie coexist, so I hope LoR will be a great game with solid fan base. I also want try how LoR so for now it's ok, but easthetic still bother me so far (also I never played LoL). What I can is for sure it's a game that is not boring to watch, and it's also important for it's potencially success.
You're right that many games can easily coexist, and that it's silly to proclaim every new digital CCG "the Hearthstone killer," but I think you may be a bit too rosy in your outlook on coexistence today. The facts remain that Hearthstone is the 500lb gorilla in the room when it comes to marketshare:
The same SuperData report that this comes from says that the overall audience size for digital CCGs is leveling out, and that a large majority of players want access on their smartphones. HS's biggest competition - MTGA - will probably never make it to mobile because the game is too complex and the board size has no limits to make rendering straight-forward. Other games like Gwent are getting into mobile, but they're just not popular enough to make a dent.
These factors, combined with the inertia of players' sunk cost in Hearthstone, makes it a juggernaut, and for someone to get into the digital CCG space, they need to take shots at Hearthstone's marketshare. That would be great, and that's why people are looking for the "Hearthstone killer." If Blizzard takes a big hit in their profits, perhaps they'll make a serious investment in Hearthstone improvements. How long have they talked about tournament modes? How long have people been calling for rotating standard sets or greater investment into the Wild format to make old cards less worthless?
Runeterra may not be a "Hearthstone killer," but from my first impressions, I think it's well-poised to deal the major hit to Hearthstone that Blizzard needs if they're ever gong to take major steps to improve the game. In particular:
Runeterra offers a "safe" F2P switch. Between the sunk cost into Hearthstone and the knowledge that switching to something like MTGA will also require massive time/monetary investment to be competitively viable, most players would prefer not to switch. Runeterra gate-limits buying cards, offers focused ways to get cards from specific regions, and only uses wildcards so that people can more easily get exactly what they want, so the risk of grinding for what you want is lower. (I believe this is a big part of why most other CCGs have failed to gain traction - they use the same basic monetizing model as Hearthstone/MTG/etc., and no one wants to sink that much money/time in twice).
Runeterra is mobile-first. This is going to make it a lot easier for casual players to pick up and try on the go, where a game like MTGA or Artifact was always going to require players to set aside time to game at home.
Runeterra will probably appeal to the Hearthstone players who want a more complex strategy game as their main CCG, but don't want to play a game like MTGA that's saddled with poor mechanics that stem from age/being a non-native to digital spaces (e.g. having to draw land cards is painful after you've played Hearthstone, and mana screw is super tilting)
Riot Games has said they'll be willing to make balance patches as frequently as once a month if needed, whereas Blizzard has been extremely slow to do any balance fixes.
Nothing is going to kill Hearthstone (which is a good thing), but it doesn't have enough real competition, and Runeterra looks poised to be a major competitor in this space.
There are another reasons why Runeterra might probably succeed more than other dccg's. It is language support.
For example, Here in Turkey, Some people don't know English. Especially younger people who studies in colleges. They want to play Hearthstone for example but most of them don't decide to play because of the language part. They don't know English so they can't play it effectively.
Riot brought League of Legends in Turkish to Turkey, They opened Turkish Server. With Legends of Runeterra's reveal, They announced that LoR will also be playable in Turkish, They posted a video about voiceovers with anouncement. That excited people, especially the people who couldn't play Hearthstone or other card games because of language skills.
There is not a little gaming community here. If you go check out, There is always a Turkish streamer in LoL channel at top 5. There is a potential and Riot saw that.
There was even a petition about translating Hearthstone to Turkish here. Blizzard refused it.
%70 of our people are young and at best, %90 of them are playing computer games and I know that Riot is doing same thing for another countries which can't get language support for best games around.
For being another example how a gaming company should act, When Witcher 3 published, There was no Turkish translation and They had no Turkish translator in their team. After the launch, some people here voluntarily translated the game and contacted with CD Projekt Red. Cd Projekt Red agreed the translation and added it to original copy. Now, one of the most loved game is Witcher 3 and company is CD Projekt Red here. And for being answer, Most of people here bought original copy of Witcher 3 even it is a single game. (people here rarely buy original games, especially single games, They started to buy tho.) Now, some people don't even like sci-fi games, They all are waiting for Cyberpunk because they are expecting same support.
Like the example here, The people who rarely buy games can spend their money to cosmetics in LoL and they are really spending much. not even for themselves, They are also gifting each other so much. That seems so weird at first look, but if you go deeper you can understand that. They feel important when a company listens them and give support to them.
Playing a game in your main language might be normal for French, German, English, Russian , Chinese or Japanese people but not for people here and I believe there are other nations like us. They become excited when they hear about a game is publishing in Turkish. I remember how all people here loved Crysis for being fully Turkish. Even people here loved Age of Empires II because of there are some Turkish words although they are not even close to Turkish. They were just words which an unnative person's wrong pronounciation of Turkish words. They are still meme here tho. :D (Well, it is not valid for me and people like me because I had an uncle who is an English teacher and I grown up with his computer and games. Even the games are in my main language, I always prefer English because I've been used to it like that and I can't really understand some gaming terms when they translated to my main language.)
So, Runeterra will probably succeed. Not just because of being a good game but because of this kind of policy and support. Well, I've tried it and game also seems great.
I'm sure these are all compelling reasons to switch over for someone who looks at Hearthstone as only a card game, but this game doesn't hold a candle to the depth I feel in the roots of Heathstone through its story and art. Hearthstone is built on lore that's over 20 years in the making and is featured in games where you get to interact and develop an almost personal connection with the main characters. LoR is based off the lore of a MOBA where any sense of depth or story is irreverent to the actual game. For me, this is akin to selling off an old family antique that you have history with in order to replace it with the new flashy model that a door-to-door salesmen offered you. If you don't see Hearthstone that way, no problem. I'm not judging, although I do think you are missing out. I just want to offer an alternative perspective.
Although I am agreeing some points I need to say that I disagree with the decision part.
You really don't need to decide to play Hearthstone or Runeterra. You can play both of them in my opinion.
Also i need to attach that Hearthstone decided to split the lore of Warcraft long ago which negates your dissertation. What was the E.V.I.L. for example or MSoG or Karazhan or Booms Lab etc. ? Where are real lore related content in Hearthstone ?
I always wanted to see some characters and lore expansions/adventures in Hearthstone but they never did that. They always tried to bring some new lore to the hearthstone.
So it is a fraud in my opinion. They are selling the game as "Heroes of Warcraft" but they are not really bring lore related stuff to the game. Sorry but the "Old Family Antique" never happened in Hearthstone. Blizzard always sold and replaced the "New Flashy Model" in the name of "Old Family Antique" to the players. That what really happens in Hearthstone. Players always thought that they are buying Antiques but never got that.
I am a fan of Blizzard since I played Warcraft 1 and Diablo 1. I played all of the games of them except The Lost Vikings. I am still playing Overwatch, Hots, Hearthstone and Diablo 3. Really love to read Warcraft lore from time to time but we need to qualify the things truly.
As we can see, Noone is playing the Hearthstone because of the Warcraft lore. They are playing the game because it is popular. If it loses its popularity, noone plays it. Because nowadays people doing everything because of its popularity. They can stop doing anything if they think it is not popular anymore. That's the thing.
I have the beta and tried Runeterra. I really liked it because I always want to play a MTG/Hearthstone Hybrid card game. I always thought "I wish there is a game which is MTG/Hearthstone hybrid" and Runeterra is the game what I wished for. Mana, Minion damage and Minion limit system of Hearthstone with Reaction, Combat system of MTG.
I will keep playing Hearthstone also I will never stop playing it. Although I have spent so less money to it, I have almost all cards and I can enjoy it but I will play Runeterra too. It seems it will be f2p friendly. I will decide after the game officially published. If I sense that I can't play it without real money I can decide not to play it but for now, I'm planning to play both games.
I haven't played the game so correct me if I'm wrong but the way attacking works is one player says 'i'm attacking you with minions A and B' then the defender says 'I am blocking minion A with X, and minion B with Y'.
This is the same way it works in Magic, you cannot attack with a 2/2 as long as your opponent has a 2/3. it is a lot easier to protect yourself when the attacker doesn't choose the blockers.
Again, I haven't played the game yet, so I won't pretend to be an expert, but from what I know of MTG (which to me seems like the best game to compare it to) 20 health should be good as long as the game designers don't mess it up.
You got it right, but at the same time I think aggro might be a little too overwhelming at times and I feel like the games I played ended up too quickly, it might be that some people played the starter decks though (Which are terrible as far as I played them) so I might be biased vs the wrong opponents.. we will see once there is ranked in the game and we can actually know how well players do.. (cause some players might be new to card games and such..)
I don't think that the starter decks are that bad. So much player did not know how to play well with Fast and Burst spells for example so they misplayed so much against me with starter decks.
I have tested starter decks like playing 10 games with them. I got two 7/3 and 6/4 with them which is not bad in my opinion.
Players will be better in time tho. I might be biased too because of that.
Attacking has an order. First turn, First player can attack, Second turn, Second player can and Third, First player can ....
Ready your attack means you can attack while you are in Defending turn. If your opponent plays a card before attacking in his/her attacking turn, you can attack before him/her or If he/she attacks in his/her attacking turn, you can attack after his/her attack before he/she ended the turn.
Ready your attack means that you can attack twice in a turn. Turns are not same with Hearthstone. One turn includes 2 turns. It includes one player's attacking turn and other player's defending turn.
For my own experiences the game felt like MTG&Hearthstone hybrid as %65 MTG and %35 Hearthstone.
There are three things that feels like hearthstone.
First is that Units keep their damages unlike MTG. Runeterra has Regeneration keyword which is basic mechanic for all of the minions in MTG. They regenerates health after combat. This is what Runeterra brings from Hearthstone to MTG.
Second is; MTG has no minion limit for battlegrounds, Hearthstone has and Runeterra has also. This is the second mechanic that Runeterra brings from Hearthstone to MTG.
And Third is mana system which is almost same with Hearthstone with the exception of Spell mana and I can say that Spell mana is a wonderful idea ! MTG has land system which I think it really sucks sometimes. I mean you need to set your mulligan around it and mulligan system is completely more random for MTG than hearthstone. Someone can say that "harder is better" but I don't think so. Sometimes, A bad mulligan is an instant surrender in MTG.
Playing runeterra feels like Playing Hearthstone with MTG's blocking and reaction system or vice versa. Playing MTG with Hearthstone's mana, limited minions on battlefield and minion damage system. More like 2nd because Fatigue is same with MTG. If you can't draw you completely lose. There is no fatigue damage. Fatigue means lose basically. Also there are reaction order in Runeterra like MTG. You can counter a spell or buff a minion with Fast or Burst spells while it is your opponent's turn.
I always wanted a game which is a MTG/Hearthstone Hybrid and now I've got it. I personally think that this game will catch the people like me who want to play a game which feels like Hearthstone and MTG at the same time.
I don't know what people think but I think that the game will achieve good things around card games.
Edit: Also for the guide, it is completely useful for people who couldn't find beta key to play. Great work ! You can add Drain as the keyword which is Lifesteal for spells. Hearthstone has lifesteal keyword for spells too. :)
and Also you can add in Region section that Riot said they are not planning to add neutral cards to the game. It is an important part for me. Because that means like we won't face any Leeroy Jenkins finisher in all classes/Regions or Ragnaros the Firelord or Sylvanas Windrunner or Mountain Giants in all classes. All regions will feel unique to play. This part is so important for me because I really can't make sense of other classes than hunter or Druid can control beasts for example. Same with Demons except Warlock etc. . I always defended that Hearthstone should limit neutral cards but We all know that thing will never happen.
I don't think 20 hp is low because there is not a way to go face all the time with blocking mechanic.
I had hard times against some Hecarim decks while playing combo or Control decks but I saw that they can be counterable with some additions to the decks.
There is not a life gain more than 20 like MTG:Arena or Hearthstone's Armor mechanic but if aggro goes problematic, They can always add life gain or a mechanic like Armor in HS to the game.
I saw some control tools are more problematic. [Hearthstone Card (She who Wanders) Not Found] nuts with 10/10 body for example. There are no actual answer to this card. She doesn't only remove all little followers in play. She also destroys any 4 or less costed followers in hand. It is huge with 10/10 body which has regeneration. It makes her insta-include in all control decks.
Also I've found [Hearthstone Card (Yasuo) Not Found] a bit overpowered. Mechanic is so cool ok but he destroys anything which is stunned or recalled. I mean, Recall and Stun are already great punishments. Punishing the opponent with destroying anything that get stunned or recalled is ridiculous at some point. It leads people to play buff decks most of the time.
We'll see how it willl go after closed beta launch but I can see that [Hearthstone Card (She who Wanders) Not Found] decks and [Hearthstone Card (Yasuo) Not Found] decks will be top tier. I personally think that Yasuo's leveled up effect should be written as "When you stun or recall an enemy, I deal 4 to it. " instead of "strike it".
It is a simple thread. I am not sure that this thread belongs to Feedback forum or here but I decided to open here. Will there be a deck database here? I wondered because we saw a lot threads on front page. We didn't see articles about MTG:Arena or any other card games on front page before so I wondered.
I loved Ionia, It felt like Mage/Rogue combination most of times for me because i have played so much Karma in this preview. Also liked Piltover/Zaun because of Heimerdinger shenanigans. Playing Karma/Heimerdinger/Ezreal deck with Cataclysm is a lot of fun. It seems my favorites will be Ionia and Piltover&Zaun.
Rogue is my favorite class in hs after all. :D
Ah and also Akali will be in Ionia so I can't decide another Region. :)
It might be like Battle on the Broken Shore but the new enemy is E.V.I.L. with Ragnaros the Firelord and N'Zoth, the Corruptor on their sides because you know, We won as E.V.I.L. against Blackrock Mountain at the last event Blackrock Clash and now ALL of the Blackrock guys are supporting the E.V.I.L.
It really bothers me how much everyone hates this.
It only bothers you because of how much you are letting yourself hate it. Just stop talking about it, stop making such a big deal about it, or any kind of deal about it. and it wont bother you anymore.
You don't understand people with OCD, do you? You can't just stop being bothered by something. That's not how it works.
I understand what OCD is. Most people who say they have OCD just mean they notice a detail and it annoys them. That is not OCD, that is being a normal person. I am sure there are some people playing hearthstone who have Obsessive-Compulsion Disorder. but most people who hate the 5 gold so much don't have OCD but are just making it more annoying for themselves by obsessing over it and buying arena runs just to get rid of it.
Most people would have the 5 gold bother them less if they would just stop obsessing over it so much. I am not saying this is true for everyone, but most people are just making this worse for themselves.
Even if that's all true that still doesn't change that "just stop letting it bother you" is the least productive response to valid criticism ever. If it's something stupid and annoying that could easily be fixed, why shouldn't you let that bother you? Why shouldn't you voice your annoyance about it?
Problems that aren't voiced aren't heard and tend not to be resolved.
Well, advertisements on websites are annoying too, but doing same thing. Makes money for owners and that is also easy to handle. They can decide not putting them on their websites but they are putting those, aren't they?
5 gold here is like an advertisement on the site. They will stay and will continue to annoy you because, as you can see here, people buys arena tickets with real money to get rid of it. So, the only constructive suggestion here is MalcolmReynold's suggestion which people can do themselves. Even some reward mechanic or tip suggestions might be reasonable, they are not realist suggestions. Don't fool yourselves, blizzard won't change this because people acts like they have OCD while they don't have and won't change this because people are crying on some fan forums. So the best suggestion is that. Don't care 5 gold. That's all. It makes your hearthstone life easier.
Even you can try to not care little things irl too. It also makes your life easier.
Just want to add that I'd like this feature too! I'd use it over on the custom cards section to hide extra text/cards like token stuff or things that might need explanations.
Yeah, I will share a new custom expansion and a custom year but waiting for spoiler button really. :D
my favorite moment was the time that i got my first 12 arena wins in this arena season. It maybe not about the expansion completely but cards from Uldum really helped so much. :)
So Invoke is same with Kicker in MTG. Cool mechanic to be in hearthstone tho. I have been a bit of angry btw because i have that in my mind for a custom Expansion. :D anyways, goodjob in this. :)
- The only thing I'm sure about is Dragons and a new lackey that is probably Drakonid or Draconic Lackey and might have a " if you are holding a dragon" synergy.

Will there be a button for runeterra cards like hearthstone cards in comment edit screen ? Because it is always easier to do :)

Well, I've tried it and game also seems great.
it seems noone loves my Ninja Bae Akali. That's great because she is mine ! :P
I might be biased too because of that.
it means you can attack in your defending turn.
Thanks for the answer and sorry for opening it in wrong forum. Have a nice day and keep up good work ! :)
its card database and i wrote "deck" database :)
I know there is a card database but thanks for your answer. :)
If these leaks are true, it seems the event might be like Legion Expansion of the WoW.
I mean, There is Varian Wrynn, Vol'jin, Sylvanas Windrunner.
And I feel like The N'Zoth, the Corruptor part might be related with new expansion. Deathwing had corrupted by N'Zoth, the Corruptor afterall and There are speculations about the last expansion being about Deathwing coming back.
Forget whatever I said if these leaks are not true and if you don't care about lore. :)
