  • It looks like a decent replacement for Hysteria once that rotates out. Quest Priest runs an even spread of Shadow and Holy spells, so it shouldn't be that hard to activate.

  • Onyxia's Lair isn't Leeroy's area. He was Upper Blackrock Spire.

  • My guess is it'll be in the next rewards track. We'll probably also get a fourth Kurtrus, Xyrella, and Rokara portrait on the same track, based on the new artwork we saw in Tavish's book for Kurtrus and Xyrella.

  • I love me some show tune villain songs.

  • I think I'm in the minority here, but I've really enjoyed this meta. There's a healthy mix of decks now that Rogue has been exorcised and Pirate Warrior isn't infesting everything.

Although, lord knows Scholomance Academy cannot rotate fast enough. I think I hate every single card added in that set.

  • The reason they cut it from DH is that it was too restrictive for an evergreen class mechanic. They'd basically have to design every future card around the special resource forever, or at least give it constant support. I could however see it as a mechanic for an expansion cycle.

  • I doubt they would introduce a mechanic that complicated in a mini-set.

Iksar on Mini-sets, back when Darkmoon Races came out.

It's a cool idea, but I think you need more than 35 cards to really sell it.

  • This list is pretty good, but I found it was bricking quite often. I cut the Frostwolf Kennels, Glowfly Swarm, Best in Shell, and Cenarion Ward for Resizing Pouch (easy extra Innervate/Bloom), Capture Coldtooth Mine, Solar Eclipse, and Moonlight Guidance. It's very all-in, but you can more consistently get a huge board on turn 2 or 3.

  • Funnily enough, I actually did look up pictures of Whitemane to compare the staff.

It seemed like a pretty clear match, but apparently the design was changed in Mists when Scarlet Monastery was revamped. Prestor makes a lot more sense.

  • Yeah, that probably makes more sense story-wise. I cannot for the life of me understand why we got Saidan, though.

  • There's not a chance that it isn't Whitemane's staff. We also got Saidan the Scarlet in the last set, who is a Scarlet Crusade leader that has nothing to do with Alterac Valley. This is a Scarlet Monastery set. No doubt.

I hope in the next miniset this control meta will finally end!

About 3/4 what I meet on ladder is Control Warrior, Control Priest, Control Druid or other infinitive heal and removal decks. x_X

Do you want to trade dimensions with me? I'd love to go to the universe where people are playing control decks and not pirate warrior, token druid, and face hunter endlessly.

Admitably, Im getting a bit pissed facing druids right now because its impossible to guess whether its aggro or ramp druid and a wrong mulligan will be completely ruinous given how polar opposites both decks are. But its so far been an okay experience in standard.

Just play Quest Priest and hard mulligan for Pandaren Importer, Venomous Scorpid, and Thrive in the Shadows regardless of the matchup. Can't have a wrong keep when every card is a re-mulligan.

  • Super unpopular opinion, but my favourite expansion is The Witchwood. I just love the flavour of the set, and I honestly did enjoy the meta at the time even if it got old very quickly. For the first time since I started playing Hearthstone all the way back in open beta, I actually made an effort to rank up. I found a deck that was both enjoyable for me and mildly competitive (my favourite kind of competitive) - Big Deathrattle Hunter with Kathrena Winterwisp, Carnivorous Cube, and Play Dead to cheat out King Krush and Charged Devilsaur for lethals. That was a good time.

EDIT: As for favourite songs: The Witchwood is also my favourite expansion song, because I love that Disney feel. For the same reason, I adore the Mercenaries trailer. Saviors of Uldum is also just fantastic with those high notes, ho-lee. This isn't a song, but I also love the KotFT trailer. I wish Hearthstone did more sets with that kind of gravitas.

  • I just had an interesting shower thought: I bet we'll see Mi'da in the Miniset. That's the shattered naaru whose shards we've been collecting. They'll either be a neutral or priest legendary I bet.

  • So, the Unseen Gleams card back that was added to the game a few months ago with no image is apparently in the game now.

If that looks familiar, that's because it's the third of the four contest-winning card backs from that Chinese contest back in 2020. Which is a shame, because I really wanted this card back, and it sounds like I won't be getting it. I don't know what a Huawei device is, but I'm gonna guess it's not very widespread in Canada.

Still really cool for the winners though. I hope we get that Murloc one soon, and it's easily obtained.

  • This card back is visible in-game now. Not sure when that updated, but it's the Serpents card back from that Chinese card back contest from 2020. https://outof.cards/hearthstone/2611-winner-of-the-hearthstone-china-card-back-competition-the-winners-card-back-is-being-added-to-the-game

Which is a shame, because I really wanted that card back. Damn.

  • Remote-Controlled Golem was foreshadowing for the Deadmines I think, since it's a Westfall-themed minion.

  • When they do randomized brawls, it should be limited to random class cards in my opinion. I managed to get a Wyrmrest Purifier on 2 one game and it made the brawl way more fun.
