When i see this card, I feel bad for Lyra the Sunshard. I don't need to cast spells on minions for her to work, but this epic is a solid 2-drop. It costs way less mana, so it has way more combo potential.
Overall it's a really cool card, but I don't like the fact, that Blizzard make other legendaries look so bad compared to other non-legendary cards.
Fact is Lyra should cost (4), especially as a Wild-only.
Flavour-wise, it makes sense that Sacrificial Pact can only target friendly minions: you can't have a PACT with an ENEMY Demon.
Flavor-wise - most often you do not sacrifice your friends but captured enemies.
Most often - but we are talking of WARLOCK here, and Warlocks regularly sacrifice their own Demons (and sometimes any friends too ie Dark Pact), because they are bound with an evil PACT.
Also, CAPTURED enemies indeed: a minion on the opposite side of the board is not captured: which is why I suggested a cheap Warlock tech for stealing demons.

Pact should indeed be finally adjusted to what should have always been. And I say this independently of the new expansion.
On the other hand, I'd be ok with a cheap Demon tech in Warlock's sleeves, eg. some steal-yo-demon card similar to Mind Control but obviously cheaper (on which you could also cast Pact).
My only hope is that so much support is already provided that it's pretty hard to make the deck more broken than it is already, by virtue of a deck having 30 slots...
I think it would be relatively easy to code a condition over refund, on the first two cards you disenchant (+ two goldens): anything else refunds non-nerf value.
She'd be just a Combo card. Instead, she's a Combo AND Tempo card. Unique AND versatile.
Maybe spellbreaker would have been HoFed regardless, but either way what I wrote was obviously a hyperbole to underline the similarities between the two cards.
People already hate playing around randomly generated Mage Spells (especially Secrets). And now they print a Card, that not only fills your entire Hand with those, but also can be randomly generated? That's gonna be real annoying.
Also, Wild Quest-Mage....Remember the Times when it was actually difficult to generate new Spells?
Mana Cyclone or even just Banana Buffoon are way better for Wild Quest Mage: you can't afford random spells for one turn only.
The discard part is what keeps this card in check. Heavily.
Art realism in this card looks quite new to HS.
Card itself is pretty sick: you basically can't afford to let a Hunter DR minion on the board.

More conditional than Lyra the Sunshard, but way easier to combo with.

Context and details are important.

This is how Youthful Brewmaster enters the meta as a tech card.
Waste Tempo on turn 2 to gain Tempo on turn 4.
Not bad, but unless Dormant receives additional synergy, this card won't find room in a deck.

Compare with Firelands Portal.
The (2) discount is obviously not worth the condition.
Unless HUGE support is provided for a Spell Mage archetype.

I feel dirty with 2x golden Shadowform in my collection.
I'd have preferred a 3/2 for (3).
As it is, for Wild purposes it is just a Combo card, to setup for later usage.
Not really.
I imply that this card, as a legendary, is more meaningful in Standard without common Spellbreaker around.
Nobody except Combo would craft and play Maiev Shadowsong, if they could play Spellbreaker.

Cards don't die, you know...
Spellbreaker had to die for this.
Wild-wise, this is probably the best card of the expansion.
In the vast majority of cases, this is basically a Spellbreaker that can deal 3 direct damage.
Worse against deathrattles and auras, better against multiple taunts.
Definitely good ofc, but not as broken as people think (unless you consider Spellbreaker broken).
Far from broken against current t1, imo.

Btw, why not call this card "Tome of the Netherstorm" or something like that?
Mages need more books!
Mmh.
The discard part is problematic.
I can't find proper use for this card.
Exactly what I was writing.
Also, DH lacks spells that can go face.
This card seems broken, but actually is not.
At least, until they make sticky minions that DH can exploit.
