The down side is that the meta was solidified back in 2014! Doesn’t mean you can’t still deck build and try off meta stuff. But it does mean a lot of players will just play the most OP list from 2014 they can find/remember.
Go here and set up a gathering for the pre-release weekend of Mar 26-29. I've done it before and just set the location to my house. Since the only option right now is a private gathering you shouldn't have to worry about strangers seeing your event and showing up at your place.
Then once you are in the event you set up you can open them. You might be able to access them a little earlier than the event start time too as gathering hosts can get into the event ahead of time to make sure they set up the network they intend to use for the event, etc. But as long as you set the time for some time during the pre-release event you should be fine.
Not to mention Lock and Load is going to be in the Core set, and it's going to be 1 mana. So cheap spells like this can also be valuable resource generation when played in combo with that.
Because it fills the board at the end of every turn that includes your opponent’s turn. Meaning every time you start your turn you are going to have at least six 3/2 imps (18 total damage) ready to attack.
If the old portal from the Un’goro quest was an every turn effect it would have been nuts! This one is also crazy, but with the disadvantage of having an empty deck.
So it honestly seems like the type of card that is more meme than competitive, but in the right meta/match ups it could also be a great win condition.
Does Core set launch mean Legacy rotation though? Possible that Classic, Basic, and Core could all be in standard play for a few days (unless I missed something asI skim through the article on a work break).
I would love if these could make Greybough better.
Not likely to be able to set it all up in a turn or even two, but if you get smaller non-taunt minions out, then Greybough, when about to pop the minion that resummons him drop Plaguemaw. It’s likely more meme than meta, but still it could be interesting and fun depending on additional support.
Don’t be too sure. They said in a fireside chat about Darkmoon art they like telling stories in their card art. Like how some spells will feature a legendary minion in the class if the spell and minion fit. (Stormstrike has Inara Stormcrash in the art)
So his appearance in this Shaman spell may indicate he will be Shaman’s second legendary in the set.
Or if you reduce one of them by 1 mana you could play them together. Emperor in Wild, maybe getting her off of a Dark Portal that is active. OR... perhaps the “best” play of all! Actually using Deck of Chaos* to make her a (1) 3/3!!!
*But really, don’t play that card. Unless you are playing a meme deck. It’s a meme!
That's a good point! Maybe he's going to be a figure head in the mode? As in the guy sending you out on your missions or something. Would actually make sense since he is from "Gadgetzan! Where the gangs rule the streets!" LOL
Wreckless could be good with the Death Knight hero card in wil
thats a turn 10 play at earliert though and they still need to be at 1hp to actully get water elemetnals.
Using Frost Lich Jaina is already a late game play, and minions already need to be at 1 hp to get Water Elementals so that also doesn’t change the fact that this card can pair well with the DK hero power. Is it situational to get multiple Water Elementals in a turn? Sure! But the fact that you can while using trades and/or spells to potentially set it up can make it more reliable.
Will you always hold the card for that play? Likely not. It would likely get played earlier unless you don’t need the board clear, or you pull it late. Maybe that’s what you meant/were trying to say.
The real concern in Wild is whether or not Frost Lich Jaina is too slow on her own? Personally, still love that card but haven’t seen it played much the past year or two.
I will personally wait to judge it until we see more of the set. I got the feeling Blizz is trying to push the game in a more board centric direction where stats and making good trades may actually be relevant as was in the early days. I am making that assumption based solely on the Core set though. Or rather what was excluded from the Core set (Kill Command, Evic, majority of Charge minions, some board clears, Mage’s “freeze everything” stall cards, etc).
These exclusions could be done to allow the team to include new clears and burst, or could be to try and make Standard feel more like your decisions matter. If it’s the latter, and depending on the new secrets and secret support pallys can use... could be decent. But we’ll see.
The fun side of Classic is playing Vanilla HS.

Oh nice! Guess I'll be short a few goldens until I get a few more DH wins, but set on the rest. Thanks for the update.
I don't think they've revealed that info yet. Might remember a mention of possibly being tied to achievements for at least some of them.

*Wakes up. Opens OoC to see overnight reveals.*
”Altar of Fire. (Reading card) ... WHAT?!?!”

They already did. Paralytic Poison.
Also, it’s not called a “poison” but I feel like Envenom Weapon should count. Probably doesn’t though.

If it doesn't, this could!
Link is to HS official site, card wasn't on OoC yet when I made this post.
Neat.
Everyfin is awesome! When you’re living out your dreams!

It’s a “loose” story. Likely meaning a Horde exp, an Alliance exp, and then a HvA exp. Third maybe based on a WoW battleground location is my guess.
I like this mostly because the outrage was predominantly from Wild, and they listened to Wild players! Nice!!
