As you can see, these tasks are quite the mixed bag: while some are fairly simple to complete, others require more than a bit of thinking (and luck: that one's always welcome) and planning ahead.
Moreover, certain tasks clearly state that you need Comps consisting of Mercenaries belonging to specific races in order for your progresses to count: while the Y'Shaarj event was about Humans and Pirates, this time you'll need the help of Naga and Night Elves!
Not all challenges might be as difficult as they seem at a glance: there are usually tips and tricks to be found to make everyone's lives easier. In this series of guides we'll take a look at how to complete each event Task, so that you'll be able to get your hands on all the rewards available. As of now, we'll focus our attention on the current task.

How to Complete the "Mountain Rescue" Task from the Yogg-Saron Event
- Requirement: Complete Heroic Avalanchan battle with all your Mercs alive in Winterspring.
- Game Mode: Heroic
- Rewards: 100 Yogg-Saron coins.
- Difficulty: 2/5
Just like any other Mercenaries event in the past, here's the task that asks you to complete a certain bounty with all your Mercenaries alive. Remember that such requirement doesn't mean that you cannot have any friendly Merc die during the climb, as long as you're able to resurrect them with the Spirit Healer node before you get to the final fight.
As you can see from the picture below, Animated Avalanche will appear on the board as a 15/400 Protector with a 9/200 Hailbringer Caster and a 20/20 Ice Rager Fighter. Moreover, each enemy unit has an additional effect.
- Animated Avalanche - Taunt. Freeze any character damaged by this merc.
- Hailbringer - Elementals cannot be Frozen.
- Ice Rager - Elementals have +20 Fire Weakness.
We'll now go through each enemy unit separately, talking about what role they play in the final fight.
Disclaimer: as you can see, we weren't able to collect much about each enemy's moveset - if you're able to witness them casting additional abilities than the ones already listed, please let us know in the comments, so that we can update the guide to make it more complete!
Starting with Hailbringer, this unit is focused on Freeze shenanigans. Its aura ability will make sure no Elemental will ever Freeze as long as Hailbringer is standing - while this means that you'll have to go through 200 points of Caster Health in order to Freeze an enemy, it also means that your Elementals will benefit from this effect too, given that it's not limited to just enemy Elementals.
Therefore, running an Elemental-focused comp seems to be a clever decision, especially for another reason.
[Hearthstone Card (Icicle 5) Not Found]
As we were saying, the other reason is Avalanchan's Passive effect: this unit will Freeze any character damaged by this Mercenary - the Taunt keyword will force any attacking unit to run into it, making such approach very unfavorable; moreover, the fact that Avalanchan has 400 Health point makes it very resilient: you cannot expect to take it down with two or three attacks!
However, if you adopt the aforementioned strategy and run a Elemental-focused build, your units won't end up Frozen due to Hailbringer's aura effect.
Finally, we have Ice Rager. Since your enemies don't have any Fire abilities, this unit's aura effect won't be detrimental to you - in fact, it's going to be the other way around: you can exploit Ice Rager in order to hit the opposing units harder!
All in all, we have a final fight that revolves around Freeze effects, Elementals and a blatant clue that Fire abilities are the most efficient way to complete the bounty. Therefore, the usual Fire comp is by far the best approach. On the other hand, Avalanchan is a Protector with a lot of Health points: any strategy with a focus on durability has high chances to succeed.
- Protectors: Fathom-Lord Karathress, Tidemistress Athissa.
- Fighters: Lady Vashj, Lord Slitherspear.
- Casters: Queen Azshara, Zar'jira, the Sea Witch.
Suggested Comps
Here are a few Mercenaries parties you can use to complete the "Mountain Rescue" task. If the task will allow multiple solutions, you'll be able to choose between at least an efficient and a budget comp, so that our suggestions will accommodate any kind of player out there. Moreover, in case any other content creator will provide interesting strategies, we'll make sure to list them below.
Out of Cards Recommendation - Fire Comp
There's no real reason not to use the Fire comp in order to complete Mountain Rescue. Sure, there might be other valid strategies or you might be missing one key component, but if it's not the case you should just go for it.
To prove this comp of being fit for this task, we actually recorded a video showing you that you can pull this off with ease. As you'll see, we were able to complete the bounty even without getting any decent mid-run treasures (/rant).
- The comp for both the climb and the final fight is Balinda Stonehearth-Baron Geddon-Ragnaros.
- Pick as many Fire Damage buffs you can along the way.
- When you get to the final fight, remember that Lesser Water Elemental 1 won't Freeze the enemies as long as Hailbringer is still standing.
- Antonidas and Chi-Ji are irrelevant: we included them only because they have Fire synergy and we wanted to showcase a party with 6 Mercenaries.
- If you don't own them, include any other unit you want: the main trio will handle the rest.
Budget Out of Cards Recommendation - Nature Comp
If you're on a budget, then you should probably consider the Nature boys.
To prove this comp of being fit for this task, we actually recorded a video showing you that you can pull this off with ease.
- For the climb we're going to use the Dragon comp.
- For the final fight, we'll switch to the Nature comp.
- You want to start by taking out Ice Rager, so that you'll avoid Critical Damage that could kill one of your Casters and mess up your plans.
- After that, it's basically up to you: we advise you to kill one unit at time, but you can choose the target your prefer.
- Avalanchan has more Health, but it's easier to take out since it's a Protector against a team full of Casters.
- Always make sure to have Guff's Living Brambles 1's Nature Combo always active.

If you have an upgraded Onyxia, you can also try this dragon comp to take advantage of her huge damage versus red taunts.
