Darkmoon Faire mini-set brought us some new legendaries to enjoy, but how to best utilize them? Fear not, we have the answer thanks to the power of data (provided by HSReplay). Today, we'll take a closer look at Standard decks with our friend from Outland, Envoy Rustwix.
Control Warlock
Envoy is just the kind of slow-but-high-value card that Control decks LOVE to have, so no wonder that they've found room for the inclusion.
Zoolock
Thanks to the fast draw of Zoolocks you may empty up your deck relatively fast, and that's when Envoy comes in play with an additional late game power spike. It can also create continuous value if you get another copy from Kanrethad Prime(s).
Galakrond Warlock
Control with a slightly different flavor. Which one do you prefer: with Galakrond or not?
Quest Warlock
The idea of the deck is very similar than Leta's list that Avalon showcased some time ago: create a lot of Primes, draw a lot of (zero-cost) Primes, win.

I've been playing a Quest/C'Thun/Rustwix control warlock the last couple days, and it's very fun (and pretty good). Here's my issue: it seems like I'm always drawing Soul Fragments with my upgraded hero power and therefore missing out on the cost reduction. A couple times now I've tapped into a "free" soul fragment followed by a full cost Prime that might have saved me. Would I be better off removing the Soul Fragment package?
I love Rustwix. Normally in the past I'm not a warlock player. (Zoo doesn't appeal to me, and the last control lock I played was handlock with molten giants, if that gives you any sort of frame of reference). But Rustwix has single handedly given appeal to playing warlock. The card enables a variety of strategies. Currently I feel like the best version is quest control.
I think versions that run Tickatus/Y'shaarj or other corrupt cards aren't horrible but just not as viable right now. (Deck has too little ways to corrupt Tickatus) and the soul shard package feels slightly inferior. Come rotation, with quest rotating out and Galakrond rotating out, without knowing what new cards will come the soul shard shell will most likely be the only viable way to play a control version.
I've actually found the Tickatus Control variant to be by far the strongest of the available options; I've been working my way up the ladder with it almost exclusively after having been away for awhile, and have met virtually no resistance. The thing that it's easy to overlook is that Rustwix is himself an enabler of Tickatus, since his one card turns into 3 primes that will all cost more than 6. (I've actually been running Free Admission in my version, since it lets you pull two minions relatively cheaply. If it's late and you haven't seen a 7+, you're guaranteed to hit something for 3 mana, but in a pinch, you can always throw down an uncorrupted Strongman.)
You could think of it as partial justification just for running Malicia, another Tickatus enabler, but I've also found it to be really helpful padding against other Control decks. If you want to get to Tickatus and friends quickly, you're often tapping enough to warrant the healing. But it definitely feels most potent if you match against any other Warlock. Heaven forbid you face another Control (or, more likely, Galakrond) Warlock running Tickatus... getting Soul Fragments shredded doesn't feel nearly so bad.
Honorable mention: Whirlkick Rogue, getting it from Jandice Barov ;) I'd also like to spotlight two decks I made with this card:
I will try Control Warlock, thanks for sharing!
