Next expansion coming soon, as we know now that they don't thoroughly test the cards, so expect OP decks in the beginning and nerfs coming a few weeks after. That's why I will not craft anything, specially Legendary cards before the meta settles down. That could take a couple of weeks.
Some interesting cards:
- Stormwind Piper looks good because its nearly impossible to remove on 3 without your opponent throwing everything into it. Curves well into something like Sin'dorei Scentfinder. If you have Trueaim Crescent you may get away just buffing your board by 2/2 on 4.
- Ignite and First Flame easily makes into spell mage. Forget the quest, ignite alone will do it.
- Alliance Bannerman is broken as hell. Just came from the theorycraft stream and this one's a winner.
- Maestra of the Masquerade is funny, but the misdirection will only occasionally work. Too bad we'll never see this in tournaments.
- Rogue got scammed because there's simply not a single good deathrattle below 4 this time round. Maybe the midset?
- Canal Slogger will be one of the most infuriating card you'd ever have to face against shaman. Its almost always a 2 for 1 trade in your favor, and it heals you as well.
- Can't wait to build decks with Mo'arg Forgefiend because this thing is just insane as an 8 drop. At least I would be, if Royal Librarian didn't exist. Like why'd get rid of spellbreaker only to print another one except this one is infinitely better because it has tradeable. This card alone guarantees the death of priest midgame stabilization. Wouldn't be surprised if this is in every deck at some point.
- In case anyone's interested, my views on the quests are in the theorycraft article. Basically druid and mage quest are good, contrary to expectation.
Why won't see Maestra in tournamets? I couldn't find a ban for it anywhere.
Its useless in tournaments because you get to see what classes your opponent's bringing. I doubt they'd limit the disguise to only the 4 classes, so its literally a 50-50, which isn't worth it.
I feel like a dumb ass. Thank you.
I like this expansion so much, all classes have their personal theme that's so flavorfull.
I really like this set so far. These cards are a little bit more complicated than what we usually get.
edit: very interesting that most classes got an anti-aggro card or a lifesteal card. Seems as though Team 5 was wary of what aggro could do this expansion.
Druid cards are super broken for an aggro deck.
Druid has got nothing but great Arena cards this set. Almost guaranteed that Druid will be strong whenever this set is in rotation.
Shadowreaper Anduin is back, AND HE HAS A GUN
Priest can finally deal damage again! Now it's finally possible to win games without dragging it for all eternity!
Pirate warrior are back with Cap'n Rokara leading the way. Set sail, Juggernaut!
Half of me: "Oh God, of all the Questlines, I might be most interested in playing Pirate Warrior. This truly is the darkest timeline."
Other half: "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch! FIRE THE CANNONS!!"
It actually looks slow enough to be a respectable deck this time, so there's no shame in it :)
What I want to know is, what on Azeroth happened to Rokara to make her join the Bloodsail Buccaneers? That's a serious change of philosophy from her Frostwolf background and the horde honour Bru'kan taught her.
Edit: I have read the flavour text, and it sounds like the Horde mercenaries won the ship in a competition, and Rokara is just playing out the fantasy of being pirate captain. I can't blame her.
I don't know, some classes look all over the place mechanics wise. Not going to preorder this time!
But I am interested in which Archtype will prevail nonetheless. Let's gooo!
Man, the flavor this year is on point! A lot of interesting and very cool cards!
Finally!
That Rogue set, especially the Legendaries and the SI:7 synergies, might not end up being super powerful, but goddamn flavourwise that is one of my favourite class sets they've ever produced.
Quick thoughts:
Hunter Quest seems profoundly OP right now. It fits in pretty easily with current hunter archetypes and gives permanent improvements without having to complete the quest, if I'm reading it correctly.
Warrior quest seems fun at least. Potential win condition if Juggernaut is unkillable
Juggernaut does not have stats so is unkillable like the imp portals. And yes, the hunter quest is pretty damn good unfortunately
