Try not to get so upset about digital pixels from a pre-programmed AI.  It's not even like you're complaining about a real person emote spamming.  You're complaining about a bot....that is doing a formulaic rote action based on pre-determined circumstances and outcomes.

That's like getting angry at your Alexa or Siri when they accidentally think you activated them.

Just to be clear:  Does this also mean you cannot draft spells from other schools, or does this mean only your starting deck is restricted?

That much I think we can both 100% agree on

Yes but if this doesn't help Lux, she will probably still not see play.  I'm a little dubious myself of Jayce's efficacy.  His level up is just Karma's but restricted to 6+ cost spells...doesn't seem great.  Though his play/immediate effect is far better than Karma's to say the least so who knows.

Feels like this is a combination of Hearthstone's Mercenaries, Adventures, and bosses from dungeon runs all in a better designed package.

Looks interesting to play.  May take a break from HS in fact.

My pleasure. I've seen somebody adding Multicaster, but it was on top of the usual Quest Spell Mage package (so not much different than having those slots saved for a Wand Thief or another minion before). There wasn't much success to report yet. Man, I do miss a proper minion Mage mixed with some spells.

And yes, not much love for Priest currently either, since I don't believe just adding Mr. Smite to Shadow counts as a great novelty. The Control one could live again if there are more board based decks to stop, but... always OTK combo counters to be wary of.

Try this deck:  I've been piloting it last season and this season with some moderate success

It's shell is a bunch of value minions, discover effects, combined with the hero power package.  I haven't really updated it in regards to the latest miniset because the cards don't really change anything in it.  The "big spell" cards in the miniset are not relevant at all, and the multicaster is unnecessary IMO since we have spell tutors in the deck as is.

The only card I'm on the fence about trying to squeeze in (for fun) is Deeprun Engineer.  Simply put there's only 9 mechs that mage can discover.  Out of those mechs, only two are holistically bad discovers (replicat-o-tron, and clockwork giant).  The rest are either great cards to cheat out 1 mana earlier, or can be game changing at a 1 mana discount.  (I'm sure deeprun engineer works better in classes that have good mechs, but honestly having such a small pool of mechs to discover from isn't the worst thing in the world)

Initially I didn't include Crossroads Watch Post, but I added one copy and it's been pretty good against quest mages.  The problem is trying to fit another one in for consistency, because honestly against every other deck out there it's a relatively bad card (hunter and pirate warrior don't run a ton of spells and therefore the minion is usually dead weight in those matchups).

Speaking of tasks, anyone have any tips on how to unlock Sylvanas' Reclaimed Souls task?  I haven't used her a lot but it currently is requiring me to gain 10 attack with reclaimed souls, but the ability ONLY gains attack if one of your characters dies....seems like one of those "you'll get it eventually but it's annoying" tasks....(poorly designed IMO but that's a rant for another time)

    Any tips on this one?

I believe the HS-team does enough work, look at the basic set introduced last year. I dont know why you are assuming they dont.

Never said they did.  I suggest re-reading and absorbing what is written instead of skimming through the post

I honestly can't imagine the power level of cards for the final set of the year (which typically have the strongest power since they are not in the rotation period for as long -- 1.25 years instead of 2 years as is with the first set of a year.)

While on the topic.  When is blizzard going to address that very fact: end of year sets, even though they stick around for awhile, are typically "Worth" less since they don't stay in rotation as long.  Seems like they should just have each set rotate after 2 years per set. Of course that would entail more work on their part...

    soooo.... nothing?

LOL a fucked game mode with only nerfs to make the rewards harder to get. great game, activision.

I agree that the game mode is very lacking and largely unappealing for long term play compared to the other modes they've released...and most likely will need a LOT of work to be a decent mode.  They have a long uphill battle to make amends for it's weak launch.

That being said....what you posted above is not how you go about giving healthy feedback/constructive criticism about a game; especially in a location that is largely unlikely to get viewed by anyone working at Blizzard in the first place.

They go hand in hand, yet they are distinctly different aspects of game creation.  If it helps, think of them as a Venn Diagram with overlapping responsibilities, but still separate areas as well.

I never said you were wrong with Ben Brode's team at the time having a decidely lack of intervetion when it came to problematic metas.  But at the same time they had 2 things:

    1) A strong cemented vision of the game

    2) An unfounded faith that players would figure out meta problems on their own. (which as we've seen has backfired)

Worse metas than this one?  No.  We had many metas which had some oppressive decks, but I can't really recall too many as bad as this one.  I've been playing the game since the beta.  It's had it's ups and downs.  But the last couple of expansions have been the most uninspired, unbalanced, dogpiles I've seen.  If I had to put a finger on when things started to go downhill and just got worse from there, it would have to be with the release of Demon Hunter as a class...or did you forget about the oppressive Demon Hunter meta and the MULTIPLE....MULTIPLE....MULTIPLE nerfs it went through to become somewhat of a balanced class?

Sorry, we are gonna have to agree to disagree here I suspect.

Blizzard is starting to annoy me to be honest.

Blizzard: "Let's get rid of charge and replace it with rush.  Charge is such a hard mechanic to balance and creates uninteractive mechanics"

Also Blizzard: "jUsT kIdDinG!  wE bRoUgHt BaCk ChArGe!"

I actually disagree. At some point in the past they made a lot of very questionable decisions of "this is not happening" which have lead to...confusing balancing choices.

Remember when they said Shadow Priest wouldn't be a thing because they couldn't figure out how to make damage in Priest work without enabling OTKs? Well, if they hadn't gone back on that we wouldn't have Shadow Priest now, which is arguably  the most interesting direction the class has gone in. The game evolves and stuff that was busted 2 years ago might barely be relevant nowadays. I see no problem in occasionally testing the waters and just throwing out crazy shit like this. Sure, it might backfire and be horribly overpowered, but at this point they nerf stuff within a week so I don't see the issue.

Going back and finding a way to make an archetype that has never really existed before "viable" is completely different than renouncing a specific mechanic, only to bring it back... Shadow Priest was essentially only a meme until this year.  Pirate decks have never been a meme and have always had a strong presence since Patches was released.

And then on top of bringing it back, enabling it in such a way that it makes an already strong archetype even stronger.  Oh, and as others have stated:  Powercreeping it's predecessor.

There's a difference between making the game interesting and making it frustrating.

As much as powercreep is frustrating to experience, I'd still prefer it over total stagnation or a constant stream of unplayably weak gimmick archetypes.

I'd much rather stagnation, then frustration.  One can be circumvented by experimentation/playing other modes.  The latter forces people out of the game and ostracizes people.  Gimmick archtypes are only gimmicks if they never get supported.  The only notable situation where I can think blizzard forced an archetype without adequate support was "frost shaman" with Moorabi.  Beyond that, they seem to be trying to print supporting cards for archetypes as they go along so what is a "gimmick today, dream tomorrow" so to speak.

Also, I'd much rather balance, interactive board play, and fair mechanics over "POWER LEVEL OVER 9000!!!!!" mechanics.  Questlines were a mistake, and it took them way too long to realize that (and nerf them).  Maybe HS is gravitating away from my interest, but just saying: there are certain immutable ways to design and balance a game, the last few expansions haven't really been all that stellar in my opinion.

I was referring more to the design side of things and less on the balance side of things...

I forgot aggro needed more support

I feel like Team 5 with so many people leaving blizzard no longer has the same vision as it once did.  Ben Brode et al, at least had a vision for the game.  It feels like the "new" team 5 is just content with hopping around making overly cutesy intro videos, and acting like a bipolar eplitic when it comes to making balance decisions.  "We don't like charge anymore" "We do like charge again". "we hate control decks, time to nerf priest" "we love control decks, just kidding here's rez priest support again!"

It just feels very wishy washy as far as design vision goes.

Well for one, Reapers Scythe is rotating in approximately 3-5 months.  Secondly it helps create trade synergies (auctioneer jax).  sometimes cards aren't printed for the current meta dapper.  sometimes they are printed for the future meta.

Not sure why they are forcing MORE demon seed synergy cards when they nerfed the deck already.  Seems pretty counter intuitive to recognize how bad a deck is that it warps the meta for over a month and then print MORE synergy cards for it.  Honestly I'm getting pretty tired of blizzard's shitty design issues.

The fact it isn't an elemental is a GOOD thing Dapper.  We don't need blizzard printing spoon fed meta cards to the kids.  "hey kids, you know how you love your aggro elemental shaman deck?  Well here's a new elemental weapon evolve card buckaroos!  Would you like me to wipe your ass for you too kiddies?"
