We know there are many changes in store for the reward system as the year rotates. The one thing I want more than any other change is this:

The ability to opt out of weekly quests for different game modes.

I don't want to deprive anyone of such quests if they enjoy them, but it's supremely annoying that I have to reroll a weekly quest several times before I get one that involves the primary game mode. More than once this has left me with just three or four days to complete a quest that I would normally have the whole week to work on.

Coercion is not the best way to get people to like something.

Will basic cards unlocked by level-up change? I'm asking,because I would like to know if I should rush leveling DH to 60 before next rotation. What's estimated date of next rotation?

Ign published an interview with some informations about the new gamemode that OOC hasn't covered yet. So I thought I'd give you a short summary of all the new information:

-Mercenaries has its own 15 person dev team that is actively working on the mode for over 11 months. The dev team also includes Paul Nygen who pitched the idea of the Dungeon Run mode.

-Mercenaries was originially planned as an 2v2 mode, but they then settled on the rogue-lite (I know the devs are calling it a rogue-like, but a rogue-like with permanent progression is per definition a rogue-lite) and rpg mechanics

- they refear to the runs as "levels" (they also did that other times they talked about it)

- equipment can come from "drops in levels" or from other sources

- the max level could be level 30 ("level 1 to, say, 30")

- the endgame is about enhancing your characters and equipment

- There will be an heroic option

- some abilities will be better against certain bosses

- a lot of endgame gameplay will be about figuering out how to counter a certain boss

- Jaina and the Lich King will be bosses

- You can see what the enemy will do in the pve parts. That's not the case for pvp

- As a result the pve part will be more about puzzles, and the pvp about bluffing and playing mind games (probably not the card Mindgames )

- they announced the mode at Blizzconline to show everyone that Hearthstone is doing more than just releasing expansions.

Bonus from an GamesPredetor Interview I stumbled across:

-The mode will have no mana system and the abilites are cooldown based instead

- example abilities could be a simple attack or a Dragon breath that either deals damage, or heals an ally.

- they think that the mode will be really deep

- fights will reward you with xp and "resources"

All of this sounds super exciting and I can't wait to learn out more.

When cards will be announced?

Anybody else a little disturbed by this card? What a real kick when life is already down, guess you can remember this card as being how depressive these last bunch of months have been.

If I designed this card, it would be randomly what it does now or summoned a 2/3 or restored 5 health to your hero in condition the wife is alive.

Speculation is always fun, so I couldn't resist doing a bit of sleuthing when I heard about the new 'mercenary' characters we'll be seeing. This thread is primarily about the characters that will appear as Legendary minions in constructed, but will involve a discussion about the characters appearing in the Mercenaries game mode to set out all the evidence.

By the sounds of each each class will have a mercenary character, with us currently knowing about the troll shaman Bru'kan. We don't yet know the other 9, but we do see that Bru'kan appears on Chain Lightning (Rank 1) (as well as the Rank 2 and 3 versions), which seems to be a quick and simple way to show the growth of the character from a low level scrub to a high level powerhouse worthy of a legendary card.

So these Rank cards likely give us clues about the other mercenaries. Currently the only other Rank card we know is Imp Swarm (Rank 1), which shows a female forsaken warlock. 2 down. 8 to go.

OK, so it's optimistic to say anything about all 10 at this point, but we actually know a surprising amount already: In the Barrens cinematic and the key art we see 5 prominent characters, two of which are Bru'kan and the forsaken warlock. It stands to reason then that the other 3 are also mercenaries, giving us a tauren druid, blood elf mage and orc warrior (presumably the Rokara mentioned in the Deep Dive).

That leaves 5 classes vacant, who I first assumed would also be seen in the Barrens expansion, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Here's where the Mercenaries game mode key art comes in. In it we see 3 categories of characters:

1. Basic heroes: Valeera, Rexxar and Illidan (I assume all 10 will be present in the game mode).
2. Other characters we are are already familiar with in HS: Rag, Eudora, and a baby King Krush in the top corner (at least I assume it is Krush based on the artwork titled King Krush 1 in the press kit https://blizzard.gamespress.com/Hearthstone-BlizzConline-Press-Kit).
3. Previously unknown characters, notably including Rokara and the tauren druid from the Barrens cinematic.

One of the 3 complete unknowns is a monkey (maybe a baby King Mukla?), who we can safely assume is NOT one of the class mercenaries. That leaves a human female with a hammer and a gnome with a fine set of facial hair, who I assume to be the paladin and rogue mercenaries respectively.

It doesn't look like we have any direct info on the hunter, priest or DH mercenaries yet, but we do still have 1 clue: so far the horde and alliance races have been represented exactly once (except goblins, sorry guys). I doubt we'll see a pandaren, so that gives us night elves, dwarves, draenei and worgen as options. Honestly, since the whole theme is very WoW Classic centric, I don't expect to see a worgen who, like goblins, joined in during Cataclysm. Yes, blood elves and draenei joined in after Classic too, but only a little bit, and they have to make up the numbers somehow.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and also assume they want the race-class combinations to mirror those seen in the WoW Classic cinematic, not least because they directly reference it in the Barrens cinematic with the tauren scattering dust(?) over a cliff overlooking a river, and with the forsaken consuming the life of surrounding grass to summon a demon. So that gives us a dwarf hunter. 

Obviously they cannot do night elf druid as per the WoW cinematic, but that's convenient because DHs can only be elves, so the night elf needs to be the DH anyway. Finally that leaves a draenei priest, which is about as fitting as you could ask for.

So, all in all, I predict we will have the mercenary race - class combinations of:

Along with this, I don't expect the 5 alliance classes to get a Rank spell this expansion.

This all falls flat on its face if the 2nd expansion isn't alliance focused, but everything points towards it (even the Year name) so I'm not too worried.

These deck recipes are created by Blizzard. They have been added as a part of the Darkmoon Faire expansion.

Deck recipes from the Darkmoon Faire expansion make up half of Whizbang the Wonderful his deckpool.

I personally use this so that I can easily go to the HSreplay page and check out the 'kept' percentage for mulligan.

Darkmoon Faire deck recipes will be available until around august 2021.

Which mode makes you spend more time in 'XP mode'?

For ranked you are not getting XP whilst queuing into your opponent. And if you play an aggro deck, you might spend just 5 minutes in a match.

For battlegrounds, do you get XP at Bob's? And on the battleground? Because they last longer (takes a while for you to die, no matter how bad you are), does that make them a better XP/min spent at the game?

Simple question; although I expect very diverse answers... "What do you consider BM within HS?"

Repetitive intentional roping and spamming emotes are probably the most commonly acknowledged BM behaviors.

Now for something more subtle and only noticable by yourself... What about playing a topdecked card (which flips the board state in your favor) instead of playing the exact same copy of that topdecked card which you already had several turns earlier in your hand. Would this also be considered as BM or does it just proof that you are being an ass**le? 😅

I saw a post with a similar topic for another card game, and I think it would be fun to do a similar thing for Hearthstone on the forum.  I will start, let’s put a card you underestimated and one you overestimated from expansion reveals as compared to how it actually played out in the meta.  If you only have a card in one of these categories just post that one.

Underestimated:

I thought it was going to be way too slow to see play and that you would often lose to aggro before having a chance to play it but it actually saw play in a lot of control shamans and was considered a powerful card.

Overestimated:

I thought it was going to be a powerful late game card in deathrattle decks, copying 3 deathrattles and having a large impact.  But it turned out to barely see play in the meta, it is only used in fun and meme level decks but not in any meta decks.

Which cards did you underestimate and overestimate and what was your reasoning at the time?

I understand that Core cards will be given for free according to the Levels.

I am just level 46 as DH; what do you think? Do I risk to miss some important cards ? Tks

Some of you might remember me (good), some might not (probably better). About half a year ago I decided to quit the game for good for various reasons (the main one being the unchanging frustration about the meta always being worse than expected. Fuck Demon Hunter, all my homies hate Demon Hunter) and while it was one of the best decisions I had made in a long time, reading about the upcoming Core Set really caught my interest again. Basically I'm too curious to see how that will turn out to not make the smarter decision of just ignoring it.

However, since I quit before thee Tavern Pass was introduced I have literally no idea how the HS f2p economy is nowadays. I know that the Pass was pretty dogshit when it first came out and it resulted in a number of changes. Did these changes actually fix the problems? Or more specifically: Are you still able to accquire the same amount of gold (roughly) in between expansions for the same amount of playtime.

I remember my personal highscore being over 10k gold saved up. Is that possible in the current system without spending absurd amounts of time? Is there an overall gold average that casual players can report?

I really don#t care about catching up with the current expansion since I have at least 2k gold still lying around and more dust than I need, but I really want to know how long it would take to, say, farm 5k gold?

I thought about this thread for a long long time, and given you can ignore friend requests, and you can report users in the launcher for harassment, but there are a lot of salty people out there, that can send you a request after a relatively normal game and then start to harass you endlessly until you kick them out or they just go away after driving you a little insane and they just get bored out.

So, this would be the place where you could preemptively get an idea of WHO are you adding.

The idea is to give a name and the reason you're pointing it out, maybe a screenshot if you managed to take one.

I'm finding myself in the middle of another meta where no viable deck appeals to me and statistically speaking I have a 50-50 chance of having one I like around this time in the next expansion as well.

I've never understood why the bulk of the Hearthstone population doesn't feel more cheated when metas settle and only 5-10% of the cards released see play at all. It's no different then buying a footlong sandwich from a Subway and taking two bites then throwing it away!

These are cards good money was spent on or excitement was had awaiting them and then *poof!*, have fun getting beat by the 3 or 4 decks that work if you want to play them. Wait forever to open a Legendary and chances are it stinks. Greedy big effect card? Ha, good luck it'll do anything.

To me it just reeks of laziness that is only allowed bc the community doesn't urge them on buffing cards more: they've shown some indication of wanting to buff cards but imho it's miserably short every time. 

Pencils have erasers for a reason and squeeky wheels get the oil. I would seriously raise your voice (which equals $ to them) on trying to get this game away from the robotic states it always falls into. My solution? At least monthly buffs and nerfs. Shake up the metas and have something to look forward to every month.

Quick backstory:

I've been playing since Naxxramas, and used to reach Rank 3 before the ladder revamp. I've made it to Diamond 4 a couple times (where I am now). I'm feeling pretty good about my chances for a first time Legend this month. I got to Diamond mostly playing Ramp Paladin, then switched to this greedy control warlock and have been doing well and having fun. I teach high school, and have vacation coming up next week, so more time to grind. I would love some support from this awesome community.

I tend to beat aggro either by a landslide when I get my good early game stuff and draw lots of Soul Fragments, or by a super thin margin, which is very exciting. I hold up well against most control decks. Ramp Paladin with Alura on curve kills me every time, but what can you do.

How to defeat him? I tried a few times without success ... his three "defenders" are too tough ...

I’ve avoided buying any BoH bundles, but this SI7 Anduin skin is calling me...

I was wondering, if I buy the bundle and wait until the new year to open would they give me cards from 2021 exp 1?  Or do you think they will only give from Year of the Dragon/Phoenix cards since that’s the standard year right now

Hello there!

I don't know how many of you out there are as ADHD as I am, but when I got the new quests for Darkmoon Faire I felt an unbelievable urge to kill them off for the mediocre reward of 300 XP (per quest fully completed).  I honestly feel compelled to always get these done before I can enjoy the game with decks that I like to play.  I have tried to incorporate the cards into the decks I like, but a number of them just aren't able to be included in a competitive deck.  I'm trying to do the Hunter one for the bola... the only time I get the chance to really kill minions with it is if I end up going against a Face Hunter, and even then... it is up the RNG Gods to give me that damned card to play and kill a measly 3 minions before I die.

I have been able to kill two birds with one stone on some of them, like a fun Demon Hunter deck with the Aldrachi Warblades with cards that helps you boost your attack (like that is hard to do in DH), will actually kill off your Paladin quest for gaining life from lifestealing weapons.  A much easier feat with a different class.   

I even was able to kill off the Warrior quest for attacking with armor using Guardian Druid since your hero power grants you 1 armor before you attack.

So my question is this for the community:  Have you killed off all your DMF quests and how did you get the particularly difficult ones done, like Forbidden Jutsu with Rogue's secret of getting a 10 cost minion from your opponent attacking you?

Hey, just two comments about the ranking system I didn't hear anyone talk about much:

1) One small aspect: The fact that you don't get 10 gold after three wins leave you with coins you will never be able to use. I have 40 coins that once in a while turn to 90. It is an endless circle that will never turn to a- 100 (or 50) Gold that will allow me to purchase anything. 

2) Second bigger issue: With the new system I am actually playing less.  Before, completing a quest you got an instant reward. 50, 60, 80, 100 gold, and so on. You actually felt that if you are going to fill your quest log and not play, you will miss on gold and you will not be able to get as many packs. Now, I am free to play, so this is a big thing for someone who wants to use the next expansion. 
With the new system, I don't have that. I complete a quest, gives me a 1000 XP, and I still have 2000 XP more to go to get the next 100 gold, which I will get some time in the next three days. That removes the urgency of logging in. 

It is great for other things I have to get done, like studies and work projects, and teach my kid some school stuff, but not good for a company that wants to get its login ratings up and not down. 

Anyway, that is my experience, don't want to beat a dead horse, but just wanted to share a personal observation.
