The Colossal mechanic is the main attraction for Voyage to the Sunken City: massive minions who take up extra space on the board and do ridiculously powerful things. The new year is only a couple of days old, but with the hype of pack opening and theorycrafting behind us, we've watched as powerful decks have already begun to assert themselves, many of them thanks to their class's Colossal. Some have helped create powerful new archetypes, while others have slotted into existing powerful archetypes.
But whatever Colossal you've opened (or crafted), there's a home for it, and we've gathered some of the best performing decks featuring Colossals from HSReplay.
Best Deck for Blackwater Behemoth
Blackwater Behemoth is one of the least impactful Colossal minions, at least in these early days, but has still managed to find a home in a couple of powered-down archetypes. The re-introduction of the League of Explorers in Standard has led Priest to experiment with Reno Jackson decks, and the Legendary Colossal fits right in.
Best Deck for Colaque
Similarly to the Behemoth, Colaque isn't one of the Colossal minions who is currently running the meta. Instead, he's happy to chill out in his little mobile home and contribute a single big body to the defensive gameplan of Ramp Druid. While Ramp Druids come in all shapes and sizes, the one we found uses Fandral Staghelm to power up its Choose One effects and Ivus, the Forest Lord to use up all that ramped Mana.
Best Decks for Crabatoa
Crabatoa is a useful tool for Pirate Rogue, whether it's a deck that tops out at Mr. Smite, or one that tries to get the win thanks to the Plunders of Pirate Admiral Hooktusk. Like most crabs, it can make its home anywhere.
Best Decks for Gaia, the Techtonic
You're probably familiar with Gaia, the Techtonic, Mech Mage's powerful Colossal, and it shouldn't come as a shock to see that the best decks to play it in are Mech-heavy decks. Both lists we have here take their own spin on the archetype: One digs in with Deepwater Evoker and Drakefire Amulet, while the other uses the Explorers Brann Bronzebeard and Sir Finley Mrrgglton to shake up the play pattern.
Best Decks for Gigafin
Gigafin is a big Murloc, which makes it a perfect inclusion for both styles of Warlock decks that Voyage to the Sunken City pushed into existence. It does a great job slowing doing opponents (by eating their board) in Abyssal Curse Warlock, and it also helps Murlock close out games by clearing away Taunts or by making it impossible for an aggressive opponent to race them.
Best Deck for Glugg the Gulper
Glugg the Gulper is helping bring Burn Shaman into the new year, alongside new friends Coral Keeper and Bioluminescence. It turns out that Glugg is great at making a board to give extra Spell Damage to, but can also just be a threatening presence on its own.
Best Deck for Hydralodon
Hydralodon is a great fit for Big Beast Hunter, even if they'd having prefer its Battlecry go off, they're not too sad to see it get summoned by Wing Commander Ichman or Sunken Saber. That being said, it is a great target for Harpoon Gun.
Best Decks for The Leviathan
Like Gaia, no one is shocked to see The Leviathan performing well in Paladin lists built around Radar Detector and all the new Mech synergies. However, this Colossal is flexible enough to also fit into a Control Paladin list that wins by making things big with The Garden's Grace, or by turning into Lightforged Cariel and waiting out the damage.
Best Decks for Nellie, the Great Thresher
Quest Pirate Warrior is one of the early winners of the new meta, mainly thanks to the reliable win condition of The Juggernaut. We know we aren't showing off the most creative side of Hearthstone with this Pirate Warrior list, but on the other hand it does have a decent 70% winrate (that will probably go down). To make up for that, we're also showing off this Control Warrior list that uses Charge damage from Captain Galvangar or Mr. Smite to end the game. The latter works very well with the cheap Pirates generated by Nellie, the Great Thresher.
Best Decks for Xhilag of the Abyss
And finally, Xhilag of the Abyss, like the Hydralodon, is a perfect fit for Big Demon Hunter to summon with Caria Felsoul or Sigil of Reckoning. It also goes great in Deathrattle Demon Hunter as an additional way to fill the board with threats.

I love seeing these Colossals on board. They are perfectly spaced to get the visual effect of one giant piece of art.
